  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) What I really can't stand is that Ozzie said himself that the Tiger series was a big one, yet he threw two utility players into the lineup in only the second game. And of course, Mackowiak misplayed a ball that ended up hurting us, as he does every single game he starts in CF. This has to be one of the biggest series of the season. The Sox could have come out 1.5 games back to 7.5 games back. I'm getting sick and tired of Ozzie's lineups and pitching management. I forget who it is, but somebody has the percentage of games that the starting lineup played; its something like 33%. Do any other teams rest their starters this much, especially right after the All-Star break?
  2. QUOTE(spanky @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:34 PM) My favs include, Wilco, Ryan Adams, Sun Volt, Tupelo, M Ward, and Faster Pussycat. Good list.
  3. http://rubytuesdays.com/locator.asp Orland, Fox Valley, Downers, a big list. I could have sworn that there was one at Louis-Joliet at some point. Maybe I am thinking of Orland though. Yeah, there's an IKEA there. One just opened in Downer's Grove/ Bollingbrook/ Woodridge too.
  4. Luckily shelton got under that last meatball. Get rid of this bum.
  5. hanger Vazquez is horrible
  6. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Are there ruby tuesdays in Chicago? Those commercials come out a lot. I haven't seen a hardees either but I'm guessing they might be somewhere in the suburbs? I've never had a whataburger either... There's some around Chicago. I believe Joliet Mall has a Ruby Tuesdays. Hardee's are around too here and there, but they're more prevelant when you get to Kankakee and farther south. I had whataburger once in Texas, but that was like 8 years ago.
  7. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...6071800823.html Turkey now threatening to send troops into Northern Iraq. Seems the Kurds are using the "new Iraq" as a launching site for terrorist activities in Turkey according to the Turkish government. It would put the US government in a precarious situation. We couldn't support Israel's incursions into Lebanon to stop terrorists the government there is unable to control while at the same time chastising Turkey for the same thing.
  8. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) Bah, guess I never wanted to be united, as I hate that band. Then I hate you
  9. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) We agree on a band? Wilco could unite people all across the world with their awesomeness.
  10. Per "BREAKING NEWS" headline on cnn.com, its official: Bush has vetoed this bill. 6 years and this is the one thing he chooses to veto? This president is a complete joke.
  11. Those are usually tailored to the market though, aren't they?

I couldn't think of where else to post this, so I thought it'd sort of fit in with movies/tv, etc. Why do we have sonic commericals around here? The closest ones are in southern Illinois or Indiana.
  13. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) What exactly is the problem with letting these people fight it out amongst themselves? I'm failing to see why the US is upset (or should be) with what Israel is doing. They're waging war against a known terrorist organization and they're doing it in response to an offensive action. No one in the world thinks that Israel is wrong for starting this "war." The situation is even more justified because of the history that's behind it all. I think we should all sit back and hope that: 1) innocent citizen casualities are kept to a minimum and 2) that Israel wipes the floor with Hezbollah and returns some rationality to the region (not likely I know). Instability in the most volatile region in the world, which also happens to be home to some of the largest oil reserves, is one reason. I really don't want to just let the mideast "duke it out" and see oil at $200/barrel.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Since I took 4 years of HS Spanish and remembered most of it during my placement exam at UIUC, I proficiencied my Spanish course requirements at the college level. I took 3 years in HS and would have completely bombed an entrance exam. Luckily, engineering only requires 3 HS years and no placement exam.

I would buy a used car, a few years old, maybe coming off a lease. Let someone else absorb that massive deprectiation hit from driving a new car off the lot.
  16. QUOTE(sti3 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Israelis stole their land? I thought it was given to them for that stuff they endured at the hands of the Germans. Read up on the creation of the Isreali state; Jews used plenty of terrorist tactics in the early 20th century to pressure the British into turning over the land for a Jewish homeland.

Rented and watched Syriana on Saturday. Another let down. The movie never really developed the plot. It was broad, but shallow. The "vast conspiracy" and such was barely played out, and instead we got pointless scenes with Clooney's kid or the lawyer's alcoholic father. I don't see what all of the acclaim was for that movie, either.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Buehrle may be not be in the highest pitching tier (Santana, Pedro, Clemens, etc.), but he's sitting right at the top of the next tier. Who cares what the stats say? Personal prejudice is what really matters! Buehrle doesn't have the intangibles
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) For whatever reason I really don't think this signifies an iminent trade nor do I believe there's anyone else in the minors besides Tracey and Montero who would be trusted in mopup duty even. What does "DFA" stand for?
  20. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:26 PM) right because thats not a hole at all (this year). actually Rosenthal just piped up and said we need pitching. that just about covered all the holes in that five minutes. They're leading the majors in runs scored -- no, offense generally isn't the problem with this team. Its exceptionally poor pitching, given the expectations for them this year.
  21. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) I missed most of the game. What are the reasons why the Sox are losing big? Mark Buerhle got lit up early. 7ER in 3 innings. Politte also pitched.
  22. Apparently its not enough that the Sox are getting blown out; the announcers need to rip on their rookie CF for about 5 minutes.
  23. Hahahaha these announcers are tools. "Nothing going right for {Anderson] offensively" "Need someone servicible..."
