  1. Trump, the "self-funding" man who is going to get money out of politics, actually just loaned his campaign money and is now courting major donors whose donations will be used to pay back the loan. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-elect...r_feed_politics
  2. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 12, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) Man I wonder what is rhetoric will be once Clinton becomes president? she should be hung next to Obama! at the "white mosque" (it used to be the white house!) Detroit and Milwaukee should be nuked because Muslims Ferguson should be carpet-bombed. Weird how all of these garbage white supremacist people keep latching on to Trump.
  3. Weird how an issue that exploded thanks to several regressive states passing anti-trans laws is a "waste of time" for people to push back against, and that the federal government shouldn't be concerned about enforcing civil rights I guess.
  4. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ May 13, 2016 -> 08:54 AM) "Harry was a legend, but he's been gone and he was with the Cubs longer. Seriously, Harry has nothing to do with Hawk, though." Not even close to being true. Harry Caray was only the Cubs announcer for 16 seasons, Hawk is in his 31st season with the Sox. I think he meant Caray's tenure with the Cubs was longer than Caray's tenure with the Sox.
  5. I think you've asked about that specific website before, and yes it is steaming garbage, and no claufield it is not comparable to nyt.
  6. I'm not saying buy something off the used car lot with 100k miles+, but a car with a cpo warranty and like 25k miles is going to be just as reliable as a brand new car.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 12, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) That's why NFL teams have been upgrading their in-stadium WiFi and some offer little TVs at certain seats. The Bears offer season tickets holders free NFL RedZone on mobile phones so they can watch at the game. I know there's the whole social crowd/atmosphere aspect, but paying a bunch of money to go to the stadium to end up watching the game on a 5" screen sounds ridiculous.
  8. Certified pre-owned aka comes with a factory warranty might be an option there. New cars can have issues, too. Car payments do suck, I agree there.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ May 12, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Yeah. Makes sense. We paid off our first car so quickly and I was so proud of it. I am sick thinking of a longterm car payment. find something coming off a lease and save thousands?
  10. trump's long-time personal butler seems insane, going so far as to call for the US military to assassinate Obama.

  12. QUOTE (Nixon @ May 12, 2016 -> 11:59 AM) i didn't see them. i missed out on all the recent olds reunions (the pixies, etc). i think after i saw sigur ros live i lost all interest in going to any concerts for a while. f*** iceland tbh. I had tickets for that show but somehow got the date wrong and was out of town for work edit: wait I second I was thinking of Pavement not the Pixies, still though
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) I PM'd this per request, but might as well throw it in here for fun... Hey man, I got married in 2006, so things have probably changed, but I'm guessing not much. Where we stayed - the Hyatt. Stay in a big hotel and check out with a Priceline to get the daily brunch included. Cost on-site is $25/person for those, so it's best to get that worked into your deal. You basically want to stay on Kaanapali Beach. The Hyatt was wonderful, but given location right off of Black Rock, we wanted to do the Sheraton should we ever go back. http://www.hawaiisnorkelingguide.com/kaanapali_beach.html There's your big secret. Right outside of that hotel (you can go anywhere on Kaanapali Beach) is black rock. Tons of marine life gets kinda swept in there. For $10 you can rent a snorkel and flippers (at least that was the price in 2006) and you put your head under water and see freaking everything. Gorgeous fish, sea turtles, eels, all that s***. Really, really gorgeous. Other things we did that were awesome: zip line tour through Skyline - http://www.zipline.com/maui I recommend going to the tour that's in the middle of the island. The drive up there through all the celebrity homes was pretty rad take a Trilogy Tour - http://www.sailtrilogy.com/ eat at Kimo's - http://www.kimosmaui.com/ Other than that, just f*** a lot and explore Lahaina and have a great time. Definitely rent a car. I can second pretty much everything Steve said here. I've been to Maui twice, once in 2005 with my parents and then last year with my wife. That island has pretty much anything anyone would want to do.
  14. Bill Maher is a dumb asshole
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ May 11, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) Bernie's main reason to stay in race is same as clintons was in 08, a desire to let all of his supporters cast their vote for him. He'll drop out after california. They do deserve that, he was a strong candidate, with high enthusiasm levels. More delegates = more leverage at the convention when it comes to the party platform, future appointments etc.
  16. Trump Selects a White Nationalist Leader as a Delegate in California More on this great Trump supporter from TPM: and from Vox:
  17. privilege status: UNCHECKED
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) The board is quite liberal I feel and people are quick to say s*** in theory, when in reality I want to see how they react. I'm sure nobody would do a second take walking in a Subway when somebody right in front of them obviously is a man in a dress with high, high heels. You won't even think that's a tad unusual. I've seen men in drag before and didn't flee into the night
  19. that was last cycle's slogan! get with the times!
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:39 PM) What was the fanbase's consensus feeling heading into 2005? I don't remember, I was pretty isolated and had just moved, I didn't know about this board, social media didn't exist yet, etc. I remember being excited about picking up AJ but I never expected that team to start off the year firing on all cylinders the way they did. Didn't know about this board either, but my Sox friends down at school were somewhat negative on their outlook.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2016 -> 01:04 PM) One thing I will say is that Trump is bringing a ridiculous number of crappy and pissed off white people. For the first time since I have been alive, there were more Republican ballots taken in my county primary than Democratic, in a county that is 3:2 Democratic. I don't want to see Trump win, but I also won't pretend that there isn't something going on there. True, but OTOH Clinton's total votes in the primary are higher than Trump's. Lots and lots of people came out to the R primaries, but only a plurality of them have voted for Trump. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20...vote_count.html http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/20...vote_count.html edit: the flip side of "it's May" is that you're right, anything can happen and this is bound to be an unconventional election. Still, as of now, that Q poll is the outlier.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ May 10, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) she's consistently a 5-6 point lead. That type of lead is not synonymous to losing a bunch of states but winning nat pop vote. That poll is interesting for hyperventilating but meaningless. I look forward to six months of people melting down every time a poll is released that shows Trump with a marginally plausible chance of winning enough states. (I'm sure I'll do this at some point as well, e.g. post-1st debate polls in 2012)
  23. 1. It's May 2. Quinnipiac was one of the worst pollsters in this primary. 3. It's a RV poll 4. They have the electorate as more white than 2012. Hispanics are registering at record rates. For comparison, other polls within the last week have Clinton winning those same states by larger margins than Obama did.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 10, 2016 -> 11:51 AM) Priests have been preying on little boys for decades without remorse or consequences, in fact the church has covered up and hidden many of these cases. Why do we let children go to church? Most abuse is likely to come from family members. Clearly this means that we need to remove bathrooms from the home!
