2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) You have to start somewhere. The Bears offense is the side that needs the least improvement. With a quality QB the Bears offense easily could have been top 5 last year. Is Cutler going to be a quality QB this year, who knows. But adding a WR isnt going to change the dynamic of the Bears offense. The smart play would have been to trade down, accumulate picks and improve the defense. I hope Kevin White becomes a pro bowl player, but right now the Bears have 3 guys who can catch a lot of passes already and there are only so many downs. Until they trade another away for 30 cents on the dollar.

2015 Cubs Catch-All thread
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) So you don't use any information you may receive from one thread in another? If I say Jose Quintana sucks, and then say I have always thought Jose Quintana is great, you would never use that against me? . The information revealed on this thread wasn't available the last conversation. The bolded strikes me as an odd approach to this forum. I think that is part of the problem Balta and others are referring to.

Bench clearing brawl
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) I'm afraid it might not be a matter of patience, but just actual pitch recognition and/or "baseball IQ." I think that was the same issue with Viciedo, and it's really a much more serious problem, because I'm not sure that a simple change in approach can fix it. It's really hard to tell from a fan's perspective, obviously, whether or not a guy is really trying to change. But if he just can't recognize the cues/pick up the spin in time, he's doomed to mediocrity even though he's so physically gifted otherwise. At the beginning of the season I really thought maybe a light had gone on somewhere between last year and now...his PAs actually seemed better to me. I was thinking to myself, has he gotten better at laying off pitches or will it just take a few weeks for the pitchers to adjust (why they seemed to forget how to pitch him at the beginning of the season, I don't know)? But it seems as though they have adjusted. He's back to looking like crap again and swinging at crap again. I agree, he reminds me a lot of Dayan.

Bench clearing brawl
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:40 AM) Not saying it didn't happen, but sure seems like more people would be aware of the Sale situation if it really did occur. Yeah, I agree. A buddy of mine saw that tweet LH referenced. Doubtful it actually happened, but I wouldn't be shocked either. Sale is a bit of a loose cannon.

Bench clearing brawl
Apparently Sale tried to find Ventura in the Royals clubhouse in the 8th inning or something

4/19 - Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 11:15 AM) Just f***ing once I'd like to have some bulls*** start like Detroit where Greene is a Cy Young and Iglesias is Barry Larkin for a month. I mean, why can't we get some pixie dust once and awhile? Org wide failure IMO, guys never overachieve. If anything, their talent shines through our poor coaching org wide. Umm, what do you think Q is?

4/19 - Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) The reason why I still thought we'd be sitting on an above average starting rotation despite a below average #4 starter was that I thought we'd be above average 1-2-3. Drop any of those down to "average" for their slot and suddenly we're an ordinary starting rotation instead of a playoff-caliber rotation. Yeah, and what I'm trying to say is I will look at Q's last 2.5 years instead of the last 3 starts when determining whether he is "average" or not. Right now, he sucks. But I'm confident he'll get it going and be back to his old self for the vast majority of this year.

4/19 - Sox vs Tigers
You guys just have realize how small the margin is between bad and good at this level. Look at Zach Duke for instance. Nearly out of the league a year ago and now he's one of the better relievers in the league. Q needs to make a few adjustments, get his mind right, and he'll be fine. It's not fun to watch right now, but there's 162 of these things. We've played 10 so far.

4/19 - Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) If Jose can't be the kind of pitcher he was last year then we legitimately have no shot in this division. I'm just as frustrated with Q as anyone, but I'm not quite willing to throw away the last 2.5 years because of a few bad starts. This staff is going to be fine.

4/17 - White Sox vs Tigers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) The video guys told him he missed the tag. That is why. Why not challege a random play in the 3rd innimg if it leads to scoring? I don't understand when someome is told by people looking at the replay, actually getting paid for it, that the tag was missed, why even though you haven't seen the replay, you are an idiot for not blowing them off. I doubt anyone holds themselves to this standard. But just remember if anything ever goes wrong because you were given bad information, you are a stooge. It is all yoir fault, and unacceptable. Oh you are so full of s***, DA. Any close play on the go-ahead run in the 9th needs to be challenged. Especially when your player is telling you he made the tag.

Ventura on his job status
I'd like them to actually hire someone who's extremely intelligent, like Maddon. I don't necessarily want just another former white sox player. How would PK be any different than Ventura? They're like carbon copies of one another.

Ventura on his job status
It's not even a lack of talent that is costing us defensively. This isn't a guy not getting to a ball he should have. These are fundamental mistakes that basically every professional ballplayer should be making, and if he isn't making, he can practice making them until he consistently does make them. However, for more than 2 full seasons, our players have not been making them. This extends to situational hitting and base running too. These are not talent issues; these are cultural issues.

4/15 - White Sox vs Indians
Ack. Between the lack of defense, poor base running, lack of fundamental and situational offense...All I'll say is Robin must be the Phil Jackson of managing a clubhouse.
