  1. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:50 AM) The landscape keeps changing. Three things that have happened that have radically shifted Sox deals: 1) Hudson injury 2) Crain injury 3) Berkman injury The Sox FO is different now than in the past. Rick is very, very patient. Interesting. Thank you sir.
  2. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:46 AM) I mean, what do I know though? Well, not being a Braves fan, I don't see Heyward often. I know his star has dimmed a bit, but I remember hearing that he was the second coming of Wily Mays a few years ago. Now that I look at his numbers, they look frighteningly similar to Viciedo's. Jason brought up a good point with the service time. It's tough to gauge the guy's value, especially considering he will just turn 24 in a few weeks.
  3. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:36 AM) I don't. If they did, it would be for a guy like David Price who they planned on being around for many years. As good as Peavy is, he doesn't have the same kind of long-term value. Interesting. Thanks.
  4. Anyone think they would be willing to give up early on Heyward?
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) I see you über-geniuses are still beating this one to death. Hah, someone is on a roll today!
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:31 AM) He's also been injury prone. He was killing the ball for the Cubs, but then he got hurt again. He was also never a .340 hitter in the minors (or really, really good). His 2006 was phenomenal with everything taken into consideration, but 2007 he definitely fell off, and then he was traded. He's still been a pretty good hitter, especially against righties. If our best case scenario is David Wright and we expect him to turn into a Bill Mueller or Alex Rios type, and his floor is Ryan Sweeney, I'd be pretty happy so long as strong defense comes with it. And he is handsome like those guys
  7. Maybe they were going to ask if he and Brett Lawrie are related
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:57 AM) It hasn't been "Debunked". You pointed to one article on them working on fundamentals the last day of ST. Whatever they did...IT DIDN'T WORK. So yes, I blame the players making mental errors on the manager, just like I gave last year's manager credit for how focused the team was. If Robin Ventura isn't to blame for the complete collapse of the player's fundamentals, focus, and mental performance on the field, fine, then we're at the "There's no reason to retain him because he really doesn't do anything positive or negative so why does anyone care" point? I find it difficult to really have any other opinion about RV than this...
  9. He's brutal at going back on the ball...not sure why, but that was my main complaint about him last year. If we had to put someone else at the corners because they fit those positions better or because they were worse in CF than Ale, than I could live with that, but we would preferably do it because we had good options at those corners.
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:33 AM) hah, this made me actually LOL
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:29 AM) Can you link to which ones you ordered? I'm looking to upgrade myself. I suggest the Marko 5000
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:15 AM) Hey, you leave Giorgio out of this!
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:18 AM) If I value any sector of development out of the White Sox system, it is pitching. No one was talking about Santiago or Quintana either before they got here. The Sox have produced all kinds of pitchers if you look around baseball. Yeah, but they don't get obsessed about in our system for 4 years so they don't count!
  14. I dunno...something bugs me about the main piece coming back being "a Bill Mueller" type...I guess I was sort of hoping that the main piece would have a ceiling of Evan Longoria or something
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 01:11 PM) And he pitched like s*** when it mattered in that one good season. End of last year, he had two bad starts vs. DET, and in the third one he couldn't even finish the sixth inning. Needed a big win against the Angels, and he got rocked. Kinda similar to his limited postseason career in San Diego. But god forbid you say something bad about Jake Peavy the competitor. I love having him on the Sox, but I can't stand his apology society that says he does nothing wrong. Actually, no. The question was "what he Jake Peavy done to earn a standing ovation."
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:52 PM) He hasn't done anything worthy of a standing O. He had barely 1 good season for us, and that season didn't even get a playoff birth. Wow, seriously? How about the f***ing injury he came back from and the way he busts his ass unlike 99% of the rest of the roster?
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:46 PM) Peavy probably comes out for the 6th and Robin pulls him so he can get an ovation from the crowd at some point ? Or Robin ignores everything and treats it like a normal game ? Normal game.
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) You could argue that Jake is outpitching Verlander so far. With six hits and a walk where is our clutch hitting? For a minute I thought you meant our poster, Jake... I think it's pretty clear Mr. Peavy has outpitched Verlander thus far.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) What you mean? He means they are trying to trade him.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) I thought Peavy was getting squeezed. Peavy put palms up asking where one was I love him...let's just trade the rest of the team and rebuild around the Jakemeister
  21. I'm having seller's remorse and we haven't even sold yet.
  22. So I hear we are wearing the winning ugly unis today? I guess Peavy made the call...
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:33 AM) I think ump just told Leyland "I made a terrible mistake" Why? What happened?
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) Anyone else having a hard time getting Soxtalk to load? i was just getting ready to ask the same. it seems to be improving a bit finally.
  25. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 11:15 AM) I think Peavy loves pitching in front of all these scouts. It's like a tryout Yeah, I am still bittersweet about trading one of the only players on this team that seems to have a real competitive streak.
