QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 08:34 AM) I would just go ahead and tell the solution, and if you have any documentation showing that you found the solution at that time then track that. You're defense for any blowback is that you were looking out for the best for the company. Thanks for the advice, Russ... Yeah, I did email out the information that I found and they actually utilized it in implementing their solution. Of course, no thanks came why way

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) It brings chills to my spine to think of how close it was to being the White Sox. Oh, I thought you were going to say because you are using PEDs in-season...

I am not one to boo players, as I think it's silly, but to each their own. However, before I feel too badly for Adam (in regards to getting boo'd on the field, not his son's condition), he makes $19,000,000.00 a year. He's in the big leagues. It comes with the territory. Glad to see his son is doing a bit better. Edit: Sorry, bad math. $14,000,000.00 a year.

QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 05:58 AM) Hello all. I'm a new poster to the forum, just registered on Sunday, thought I'd say hello. I'm from Ireland, born and living in Dublin. Up until recently, my sporting passions were Dublin Gaelic Football and Celtic Football (soccer ) Club. I'm a season ticket holder with Celtic and travel over to Scotland for most of their home games and some away trips, as well as travelling all over Ireland supporting Dublin. I have now also added the White Sox to my sporting interests. Up until a few months ago I had never even watched a game of baseball and, outside of the basic concept of hitting and running, had no real knowledge of the rules. However, over that period, I have really developed an interest and better understanding of the game, opting to support the White Sox. I'm still very much a novice in terms of knowledge about the game, but derive great enjoyment from watching it. I look forward to exploring the forum more and engaging with and learning from the discussions about all things White Sox. Joxer. Whiskey shot! Joxer, do you guys have many games televised over there?

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Sorry to burst people's bubble but White Sox fans are no different than fans of any other team in any other sport. A ridiculously paid player who is stinking up the joint will typically be booed by the fans. bubble...has...been....burst....

I get that... Situation occurred where the one manager's incompetence created a problem to which I found a solution, after she had gone back home to resume her "PTO." I tell the other boss who then tells me not to tell anyone of the solution I've found. We're talking about a way to mitigate some $35-50k in LDs every day, and I'm being told to not reveal the solution so that the other manager can take the hit. Not cool with that, regardless of how commonplace it may be.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:56 AM) I got an iPad 2 as a gift. I would have preferred an Asus Transformer Prime with the keyboard dock, but after some research, I've found the iPad has some viable keyboard options as well. I want to use the iPad mainly for note taking (handwriting and typing is great IMO, beats pen and paper) and web browsing, so I would like to get a reliable keyboard case. Anybody know of a good one that matches nicely with the white iPad? Edit: I've found these: http://www.amazon.com/Luvvitt-KBWHT-Alumin...d+keyboard+case http://www.amazon.com/New-Trent-Bluetooth-...trent+ipad+case The New Trent case offers more protection, but doesn't look as sharp as the Luvvitt case. The only drawback with the first case is that it leaves the back exposed, so I'll probably have to get a back protector for it. Anybody know of a good full body protector (besides Zagg)? Why don't you admit you went out and bought it?

It's costing a lot of money. Considering documenting it all and reporting it.

Anyone ever have two of their superiors sort of battling it out against one another and in the process making decisions meant to harm each other and clearly not in the best interests of the company?

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 10:04 PM) It looks like I'll be getting a purebred yellow lab this week. 8 months old, already 80 pounds. That's a big boy!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 07:24 AM) I feel like his control has been way off lately? Yeah, he's not been as crisp as he was early on...but I'm not sure if that is a result of his fastball getting hit around a bit lately and so he's not as confident, or if he's just a bit fatigued, or if he's just not throwing as well right now.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 07:23 AM) Caulfield, I quit reading at "Nate Jones...fastball...lack of movement" He has extremely good 2 seam run on his fastball. Everything that guy throw is nasty. He, like other pitchers, still must locate and change speeds though. He just needs to make some adjustments. The hitters have adjusted and started getting to him...now he's just got to show them something different.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 07:43 PM) Why would you dump from our offense in a playoff run? Dayan is on pace for a ~80 RBI (even better if you don't include the cold April in your projection) season, as much as I like Jordan Danks I sure don't expect him to have production like that for the rest of the season. The point made earlier in the thread was that anyone that would pay Mark could have Mark. If the chairman was willing to pay Mark, I'd certainly choose that over giving up a key cog in our offense and even bigger key to the future in Viciedo for yet another starting pitcher. If we're not willing to pay Mark (or he isn't truly available at such a low price), then I still don't want to move Viciedo for a starter. Too much subtraction for the addition. Yeah, I understand your point. I just disagree. I'd gladly throw Hamels/Sale/Peavy/Quintana/Danks-Floyd out there with a lineup not featuring Viciedo over the same rotation (given the question marks) and a lineup including Dayan. You've also got to factor in the notion that the chances Mark is available right now are slim to none.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:23 PM) I wouldn't feel like a team needs a multi-year run like the Rays to have "broken through" or become good of however we're going to say it. Pirates are right in the thick of things this year, 11 games above .500, leading the NL Central at the break with a better record than the White Sox. That gets you a whole lot of nothing.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) I'd rather see us eat a bunch of money to get a player like Buehrle instead of creating a big hole in our offense to bring in another top pitcher. Well of course you would...it's not your money... I don't view dealing Viciedo as creating a big hole in our offense, however. He's more like a luxury at this point. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I'd rather have Hamels...so you deal Viciedo for him now and then sign him long-term, you're spending more over the course of the contract but probably not much more over the course of the next 3+ years. Additionally, I would be a bit shocked if the Marlins were to cut bait on Mark after so little time. That would be almost unprecedented in recent MLB history.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Mark Buehrle's contract was written so that they could give up if they had to. I'm not sure that I understand this thinking...if they desire to move him, they're going to have to either eat a s***load of that contract or trade some major talent along with Mark. Mark has pitched well, but I don't see anyone wanting him for 3.5 years and $54 million right now. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) Yep. It's silly that people think we have the prospects to land Upton considering the competition for him is reportedly huge. First of all, I would be shocked if they actually traded him. Secondly, his statement wasn't that we had a prospect to land him; it was that Sale was the only person on our entire roster who could land him. That's simply not true.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Thank you. Pittsburgh may have a good record right now, but it's not going to last, as their offense is incredibly bad. Also, they have two starters in Burnett and Bedard that aren't long-term solutions. Everyone likes how they're building that organization, but let's not give them too much props just yet. One other thing people need to realize is that teams like KC and Pittsburgh have spent big on the draft to quicken their rebuilding efforts, but a good chunk of these over-slot players are Boras clients. So they'll have these guys for six years and then they're likely off to the highest bidders. IMO, the Royals are in big trouble, because by the time they develop a half-way decent pitching staff, a bunch of their position players will be gone. I just think it is darn near impossible to build a contender that is almost all players developed from within. I still can't figure out how the Rays have sustained the consistent success they have with what they have gone through over the course of the last 4 years. When you are developing so many players from within, you have to give those players opportunities. Those opportunities mean you're not signing other productive players. Thus, when one of the young players gets injured, struggles, or just plain doesn't turn into the player you thought he would be, then you usually don't have much to replace him with in-season. When you're talking about giving these opportunities to 15+ players simultaneously, the odds for it all coming together at one time are extremely low. Hats off to the Rays, who are pulling this off because they have no other choice.
