QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Can I join the Friday night loser party? Count me in on the rooting for Lillibridge. I want him to be our pinch runner all season. Join the party! I'm loving technology....sitting at work, watching the NCAA games, with a webcast of the ST game on....work ain't always so bad...

Milledge may have just won the battle with that gapper...

I think another #1 is going down here...

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) Beckham should have had that. Nice little play there though...

Thanks for the link, Flav. Thought maybe Lastings got that one...

Just wanted to chime in that I have enjoyed this thread....Soxtalk, especially PHT is best when we have a wide disparity of opinions and personalities contributing...and s***, sometimes when the sparring begins it's fun to crack open a beer and sit back and enjoy the hilarity that ensues. For the record, I like where you're coming from J4L...it gives me a bit of a common sense check when I get too high on the Hawk Harrelson fumes...

I had some wonderfully refreshing PBR during two games of beer pong last night. Oh, college, how I miss you so...

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Seriously. This is frustrating. Games get snowed out in Cleveland opening weekend every year. Why doesn't the Tribe start out on the road? Anyway, I'm annoyed. I'll guess it will be 57 and sunny on opening day.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) I finally got a job offer!!! Well that only took 23 months. I'll be starting in about three weeks. Yeah!!! Thank God that the stress of the hunt is over! Good for you! It's been a long time coming...Congrats!

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 23, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Men's Health Magazine, a well respected publication has revealed this surprising process of making a fast food hamburger patty. Gather the Scraps A company called Beef Products gathers the scraps from the slaughterhouse including the heads and hooves, once only pet food fodder, to begin making the fast food patty. Expose It to Ammonia Gas Next the meat is cleaned by threading it through pipes and exposing it to blasts of Ammonia Gas. But Ammonia is not on the nutrition label!! The FDA allows the fast food industry to keep this information hidden from consumers. Surprise! Real Ammonia? Yes, the very same ammonia you clean your bathroom toilet with. The same ammonia that burns your skin upon contact. This chemical will clean up the diseased beef of all contamination from E.coli and Salmonella. Mix the Meat Take cleaned scraps from a zillion cows and grind them all up together and form patties. Yes, your patty is not from one cow. This is why the risk of E. coli is so huge. Freeze After the scraps are ground, sprayed with ammonia and "cleaned" they are formed into fast food hamburger patties and frozen and shipped. Happy Eating! I don't know if I'm happy or not that I looked into this recently... because I'll never eat fast food again. I always get a kick out of stuff like this...I agree, yes, this sounds incredibly disgusting...but honestly, if you stop and think about it, how is eating a piece of meat from one cow really any less disgusting? You are eating an animal. An animal that has sat around in a stall (or if you are luck, a field somewhere), with the express purpose of eating so as to get fat, so you can eat it's flesh. It lays around in s***, has flies buzzing on it all day, every day, and then is unceremoniously shot in the head (or some other quick and dirty manner of murder), where it's hide is stripped and the carcass hangs on some hook for days until some guy in a white suit comes by in a saw and slices and dices it. I'm not sure I like the idea of eating a hoof, but if you didn't know any better, why would eating the loin or the shoulder or the ass really be any better or more appetizing? Sorry, just had to rant.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) But you couldn't see Wisconsin having a bad one and scoring something like 33 points? I absolutely could see Butler winning too...that's what my point is, I think this one is wide-open...
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) Nobody is going to "beat up" Butler, they've already faced two of the most physical teams in the tournament and got by them. You have two teams that play similar styles, with 2 of(if not the 2 best) the best in game coaches in the country that play at an extremely slow pace. This game is going to be physical and close the whole way, with the team that probably makes a higher percentage of their 3's winning this game. I hope it's Butler but this one is a complete toss up imo. Oh, I didn't mean beat up literally. I meant beat them by 10 points or so...beat up that way. I could see Butler just having a bad game and getting worn down in the last quarter of the game or so because Wisconsin just doesn't turn it over.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) You guys are on some serious crazy pills today. Yeah, I agree....Wisconsin might indeed beat them up a bit, but to say Butler has no chance seems kind of extreme to me, considering they just beat the Big East regular season champion on Saturday night.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) With out looking at the spread, I'd say Florida just has way too much size for BYU and this is where the loss of Davies will really do in the Jimmers. You're crazy. That game will be within 5 points either way for sure. Yeah, I picked Florida to beat BYU in my bracket and that was my opinion before I talked to these guys. But they are all putting like 5 bills on BYU and so I'll have to either lay off or just bet with them. It's no fun betting the favorite when your buddies all have a big play on the underdog.
-
Who are we on tonight, fellas? Lots of my buddies are making big plays on BYU tonight, but I just don't know if I am buying it...

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 24, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) We're at the exact same place in the series and yeah, that was a pretty tough pill to swallow. I was sure they were going to kill Avon and Stringer was going to run the show... I had no idea he was a Brit, either. Very convincing dialect.

Finished season 3 of The Wire the other night...sad to see my favorite character bite it...not sure how I will feel about the rest of the show now...

One thing the renewable sources have going for them is the state-mandated RPS's. Regardless of cost, many of these wind and other projects are going to be developed and the R&D going into these projects is going to bring down the costs. Additionally, gridwork will be done to incorporate this capacity and this will lay a lot of the groundwork for future improvement. The key, to me anyways, is not going to be how much nuclear plants are ultimately developed, but rather how many natural gas combined-cycle plants are developed, due to the low cost of natural gas and related large supplies.

Agreed. No offense to anyone who might sell furniture for a living, but most furniture stores are not going to be luring in the top sales talent or the most successful individuals in the workforce. A place like this is where future successful salesmen might go to sharpen their skills, get their start, etc. And this store is well-aware of that. They are just trying to avoid you thinking you can work there for 6 months and then jet off to some pharmaceutical sales company or the like. But honestly, this is the point at the arc of someone's career where such a job seems acceptable, and they know it, and you know it. Do what you need to do for yourself, Blake, and let them worry about their turnover rate. Do you think they're going to worry about you or others when Corporate says they need to lay off 25% of their sales staff? Hell no.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) I'd recommend dressing a bit nicer than normal, but I wouldn't go full on suit for this...considering they already know you and work with you. Last job before this one, I showed up on a Friday afternoon in jeans and a Sox jersey. In a waiting room with a few guys wearing suits... I got the job. Oh, and the interviewer(s) were die hard Detroit fans, they said they were amused by my guts to wear that to the interview after the fact. One of the interviewers loved me...said I'd be the perfect fit, since I knew the job and had an amusing personality...the other (a girl) said she hated me, because I was a cocky son of a b****, but still thought I'd fit in good in an office full of cocky son of a b****es (like herself). We later ended up liking each other quite a bit. So like I said, it's all in what you think you can pull off. Thanks Y2HH...I think we are sort of on the same plane here...doing something to differentiate yourself from the other candidates helps a bit I think.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 21, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) It all depends on what you think you can pull off. I've shown up to interviews in a suit more suited for "partying", and in street cloths. For the record, I landed both gigs. Well, I work for the company already, so it's not like I am some guy off the street. They know I am a responsible, hard-working employee, which is mainly what you're trying to convey when you wear a suit to an interview. For the last position I interviewed for a few months back, I just wore khakis and a wool sweater, and I did get the offer, but this is a bit more high-profile position. I just hate showing up in a fancy suit for a job where you're not going to even wear a tie on a daily basis...I view it sort of the same way I view the resume...it's just pretending to be something you aren't. I dunno...I am a bit torn here though.

Job interview this afternoon. I usually try to wear something just a step more formal than is required for the position on a daily basis. Our company is fairly casual as far as businesses go. Daily dress would be nice pants and a nice button down, but mostly no tie. So for the interview, I was thinking of wearing a shirt and tie, with a cardigan....sort of a modern look, but not so formal as a suit. What do you guys think, is a suit is the way to go, or can I go with something a little less formal?

Happy Birthday, Marko! Enjoy your day!
