  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) But who on this team is capable of putting up Quentin May-August 2008 numbers? There's only Carlos himself, Beckham and Andruw Jones that fit into that category. Well that's three guys you named...and while I am not sure I agree with you about anyone other than Quentin being capable of that, if your argument is that we have three guys capable of it, I don't think there are too many teams that have more than three guys capable of putting up MVP numbers. I feel like we just need to get on a little roll and the offense will be fine. The starting pitching thus far has been very underwhelming, which isn't the worst thing that can happen. These guys have track records; they will bounce back. Once they do, we'll worry more about the offense. But as of right now, I don't know that it really matters a whole lot what we are hitting if our SP is going to be this inconsistent.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) On this date in 2008, Carlos Quentin was hitting .241 with 4 homeruns, 10 RBI, 10BB It wasnt like he was carrying the team at that point. And Alexei wasnt mister grand slam until the weather warmed up and he was put in the lineup permanently I think what Caufield is saying is that he doesn't think those guys are going to repeat those performances, which were two of the reasons why that team went on to win 89 games. Not saying I agree or disagree, just making a clarification.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) Kotsay also is slow as s*** on the bases. For all this versatility talk we heard during ST, there sure hasn't been a lot of creativity from Ozzie. Kinda need people to get on base to get very creative...

    Happy Earth Day

    Enjoy your day, Earth!
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) From April 17 to May 5th during the 2008 season, the White Sox went from 9-6 to 14-17. That's a record of 5-11 during a 16 game stretch. That's a rough stretch early in the season that is 1 game worse then the one the Sox are currently on, and that team won 89 games and a division title. That offense really wasn't any better or much different, and they were just fine. Sit down, relax, and enjoy baseball. It does take about 40-60 games to determine how good a team really is. I'm not about to say that everything will fix itself, but we don't know what this team is or is not capable of completely yet. Wow, thank you for finding that Blake. I just don't understand how so many of you guys can really believe that you have seen enough of this team to make any sort of accurate judgment of what they are capable of. It's certainly not the start we were all looking for, but I definitely see some signs that this can be a good ballclub. So we're in a hole! We're just going to have to dig ourselves out!
  6. Enjoy your day, Mr. Man!
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) Get the early "Man I wish it did this" reaction? They already know what people want it to do...if there is one thing about Apple products is they get massive press coverage and massive reviews... I mean don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they didn't do this purposefully. Just that I don't understand it.
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) They remotely deactivated key features, which means they could have tracked it and recovered it much quicker. Why would they even allow it out of the lab? As secret as they are, this time they allowed someone to walk around in public with a new version of the iPhone? Sorry, this smells of a marketing ploy. And kudos to them for it. It is unlike them to do it, which is necessary for the ploy to work. Brilliant I don't get what the point is though. If they wanted attention to the product all they would have to do is announce the thing and there would be an absolute whirlwind of attention for it. What does this accomplish?
  9. And doesn't Jerry own part of CSN? Hah...gotta love Ozz...
  10. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 08:26 AM) If you think Ozzie doesn't love Andruw Jones, you're crazy. Judging by the way he interacts with Andruw, I think he has a bigger man-crush on him than Kotsay. I would be VERY surprised if the AB's didn't fall out in Jones' favor over the next two weeks. Of course, if he continues to plug Kotsay in there as frequently as he did to start the season, that would be a very dumb move but I don't see it happening unless Kotsay shows a spark. The reason this has been an issue at all is because Ozzie thought he saw something in Kotsay, and you don't make managerial decisions based on immediate dividends, since baseball is a game of odds. This is about the time (2ish weeks) that you can see if your move made sense or not and adjust accordingly. Jones in, Kotsay out. I bet that's how it shakes out. If not...blech...... I have a major man crush on Andruw right now. Hard not to like a guy that seems like he is having that much fun right now...

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:11 PM) Very impressive, shack. Isn't that feeling of accomplishment priceless? Keep it up. Thanks, J4L. Trying to make it a lifestyle change, rather than a one-time thing...
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 07:32 AM) On a Tuesday, on a cool night, in April, against a team with no national following to speak of, with the team playing like s*** at 4-9. Still almost 20k. I'd actually call that impressive, and it shows you how far this organization has come in the past decade or so. Wasn't that many years ago that games like this would draw 11k, not 19k. Plus there was another City team in a playoff game at the same time...
  13. Now what did I tell you folks. Have some faith.
  14. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) well, pretty much has everything now. Front camera, shutter button. Ok...am i right that it has Flash....or it has a camera flash...someone confused me with that. I think they meant a camera flash. Supposedly Apple thinks Flash is an obsolete technology and refuses to operate with it.

And another round of plyo is in the books for me. Hate. Love.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) No guesses? Mine would be Brett Myers...no proof, just throwing out a name that would fit the criteria. I've heard all kinds of guesses...Z, Wandy Rodriguez, and Johan...
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) What about Teahen's judgement fielding that bunt in the first series? That was another key, momentum-changing play... I can't believe what a big deal people are making out of that play....it's a snap-decision...I still think the guy might have even been out...these kind of things are going to happen on plays like that. It's not like the guy picked up a bunt that was rolling foul while the guy was already standing on first base. It was certainly reasonable for him to try to make that play, even though it didn't work out in the end.
  19. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) I think what we're seeing is a lot of frustration being vented. Most of the serious posts right now are saying that there's concern but not panic or "end of the world" thoughts. I'm only speaking for myself, but part of the frustration is the lack of production from the DH position and the seemingly stubborn approach that Ozzie is using. There was a lot of concern over the rotating DH idea, and although we had to resign ourselves to it, we are seeing basically what we expected. I realize it's a long season and anything can happen. But the thought of losing both of these series at home and then going on the road to Texas and NY is very scary. The way the team is playing, it's conceivable for them to be 8-17 on May 3. Tampa has won what, the first 7 on this 10 game road trip of theirs? I'm willing to bet they don't win 9 of 10 or 10 of 10. This is where we turn things around...
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) That's why I was being sarcastic. I guess I need to use green. Although you can argue that Wise, Lillibridge, Anderson, Fields, Corky Miller, Torres, Colon, R. Williams, Owens ARE NOT MUCH BETTER than Josh Kroeger in the overall scheme of things, yes? You just answered your own question. He saw how well that worked last year and at least TRIED to adjust philosophically this year. Caufield, I was backing up your point, not disagreeing with you.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) If Josh Kroeger is our 1B/DH next year, then I'll start to actually get worried about KW's sanity. Or Maurice Gartrell. Right, because Kenny is usually one to sit around and do nothing and trust that the unproven system-fillers will get the job done...
  22. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) I agree, but the Sox are acting like a bunch of pathetic assclowns, too. Yes, they are...but it isn't going to make them play any better by just pretending that the world is ending after 2 weeks of baseball. Teams go through these kind of streaks in the middle of the year all the time and while they are troublesome, they don't get this "world is ending" kind of mentality attached to them because there are other games that took place before that bad streak which give it context. Right now there is no context. But we can give it context by remembering that this is a 162 game season, not a 39 game season, not a 54 game season, not even an 82 game season. Just try to have patience, folks...we'll get this thing turned around...there is too much talent here not to.
  23. You guys are acting like a bunch of pathetic assclowns. We are like 1/13th of the way into the season.

QUOTE (The Gooch @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) Most of it would be fine except for plyometrics. You jump like crazy in plyo, but u can replace it with the cardiox (which im not really sure about bc i havent tried it) Cardio X is just sort of a combination between all the other non-resistance workouts. They take a few yoga exercises, a few plyo exercises, a few kenpo exercises, and a few core exercises and combine them into one workout. It's a decent workout, but nothing compared to plyo...
