  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:06 AM) You are in a major conference where most of the others schools' basketball budgets completely dwarf yours. Being in a major metro area, your fan base is non-existent cause there are so many other teams to root for. You play in a cavernous multi-purpose arena 15-20 miles from campus. Its also a big commuter school, so a lot of the other students are spread around the city anyway. If they had stayed in C-USA, it would be a better job, cause you would have a way to better chance to compete and be successfull right away. Going against the likes of UConn, Cincinnati, Louisville, G-Town, etc., good luck. I do agree that Jerrence Howard would have been a better hire. A young great recruiter with connections to the state could have brought more excitement and life to the program. Thankfully they didn't cause I think Bruce needs him by his side to keep up these top recruiting classes. Yeah, they should have stayed in C-USA. Look at Butler. They know their place. They can win the Horizon League every year and go to the NCAA tourney. Why try to mix it up with traditional powerhouses when you don't have the resources to compete with them?
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) It really isn't though. If you've got the right connections in the city it's a great source of talent, it's in a major metro area, and it's a program in a major conference. If i were DePaul I would have thrown millions to Jerrence Howard. At the very least you'd deal with 2-3 years of no worse than what they've been, but he's in on some of the best recruits in the midwest. He could at least build up the talent on the roster and then bring in someone who can coach em up. Come on, it sure as hell is a rotten job. It's a city school with no fan base, rotten facilities, they play their games nowhere near the damn campus....they've sucked for the better part of 25 years now. They've shown very little ability to keep City recruits from heading elsewhere....I mean come on, this is just like people saying St John's is a good job. It just isn't. 20 years ago it was a good job. Not anymore.
  3. Here is a good article about how crazy these ADs are. EVERY school is throwing aroud a ton of money these days. CBS Article
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 07:47 AM) Terrible Who did you expect them to get? What a horrible job that is.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2010 -> 04:15 AM) You need to post some before/after pics. I would imagine you look significantly different than you did 78 days ago. Will do, J4L...only another few weeks...
  6. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) I'm a total craft beer person, but. . . Sometimes a Corona with a lime can really hit the spot. I feel so dirty now. Ah hah! The ultimate confession! This is like catching Phil Knight wearing Reebok's!

Knocked out CST tonight with the dumbbells for the first time. I actually think I like this particular workout with the bands better, just because i think it is easier to keep better form with the bands than with weights considering all the awkwards triceps work involved. Today was day 78.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 02:15 PM) One thing I was very skeptical of was the 10 hour battery life claim. Well, Looks like it's a little BETTER than 10 hours: Yeah, the battery life is really strong. The other thing i don't understand is all the complaining about the keyboard. Most apple freaks have been trained to type on the iPhone by now...this thing is like heaven compared to the iPhone...
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 08:04 AM) The only thing I say about moving away to be with her is this, if it goes bad, then you are all alone in a city with nothing to distract you from the horrible situation, no family or friends right there to fall back on. You are seriously out on an island emotionally and somewhat physically. On the other hand, it is an adventure, one that could lead to much bigger and better things. It is a brave thing to do. Which I can attest is indeed a difficult thing to do. I moved out to Vegas about 21 months ago, not for a girl, but for a job. I knew basically 2 guys that I played fantasy baseball with for a few years, and that's it. I have no roots here, except for the mother of a close friend who lives out here. Other than that, there is not a person within 1000 miles that really gives a s*** about me. Most of the time, I love living out here. I don't really get too homesick as I can call, text, email my friends and family. Sure I miss not seeing them, but most of my friends are at the stage in life where they are recently married and starting families, so you don't really see much of them anyways. When it does really suck is when something crappy happens, like you break up with a girl. I recently did that and it was hard without that support from your friends and family. You basically have to deal with it alone, which makes you more prone to handling it poorly. This is not to say I have no friends out here; I do. But they are not the kind of close, deep-rooted friends that you really want to talk to when the s*** hits the fan. So Wite, that is just my experience with it.
  10. Yeah, but he does provide a very nice OBP. Seems like the theme though is that if Kenny could have convinced Ozzie to pencil this type of hitter into the lineup every day, we would have Jimmy on the roster right now.
  11. Blake, I say go for it.... It's not like you're leaving Seattle to move to South Dakota with her...I agree with you...go and enjoy the big city young man!
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 5, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) He was DFA'd, right? Which meanss the A's would assume a chunk of that Thome-like contract. Yeah, I think the A's would pay all but the pro-rated minimum.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 11:54 PM) when i think frank thomas i think big media personality, totally. Yeah, exactly. I better watch what I say though...he works out right around the corner from me...
  14. I loved what Frank did for us on the field, but I could really care less about him when he starts opening his mouth...I was already starting to get uncomfortable with some of the things he was saying about Alex in that interview...
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 07:47 PM) What if I said I wasnt wearing pants? You deserve several lashings for this...

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) Ok, looks like I'm going to give this a shot. Gotta gather some equipment this week. Question for those with experience: My softball league starts in about 2 weeks. We play Thursday nights. How sore will I be? How should I schedule the workouts so that I can play ball? Should I make Thursday the rest day? Any suggestions? You will be sore for about 1 week. If you start on a Monday, your Thursday will be Yoga day, which would work just fine with your softball game being that evening.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 4, 2010 -> 02:24 AM) I am now "in a relationship" on Facebook. Come Monday night, that will be "in a relationship with (her name)" Ahh, ok. Best of luck, my friend.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) The more I see the iPad, the more I like it, but I'm not motivated just yet to buy it. If the iPad 2.0 has a built in webcam, I might just have to get one. I would still prefer a iPad that runs full OS X, but I doubt that will ever happen. I've got to tell you, my first impression is it's pretty awesome - all I hoped it would be. I also know I am glad I didn't get the 3G version, because I am going to be spending much more $ on iTunes now - so I don't need to be paying for a data package as well. I doubt they ever make it too powerful though; the last thing they want to do is encroach on their own Macbook market.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 04:43 PM) That is soooo much better than trying to leave comments on my iPod Touch. iPod Touch + SoxTalk = FAIL! Bought two books, and three movies. Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers and Atul Gawande's The Checklist Manifesto. Navigating the pages is extremely natural; very well done. The Hangover, Couples Retreat and Inglorious Basters. Looks like movies take about 30 minutes or so to download using my Wifi signal.
  22. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 3, 2010 -> 03:26 PM) Why not? Clearly you don't value money very much. And yet I still have no desire to give you any!
  23. First post from the iPad! Gotta say guys, this thing is pretty badass and really easy to type on!
