  1. I almost wish I could watch the movie of Shipps going out with these three women to the Tyler Perry movie more than the actual Tyler Perry Movie. Shipps, do you promise to share all the details with us?
  2. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 10:16 PM) No, it's definitely a term we used for that period in HS American History class. Maybe your class year was too close in time to that period to have a full understanding of it? Very well done. Almost spit out my drink.

    The Droid

Apple's genius is very simple. Their product design is by far superior to anyone on the market. Even in commercials their competitors admit their products are sexy. Secondly, their products are the most simple and intuitive on the market. You pick up one of their devices or turn on their computers, and you don't need to read an instruction manual. Operation comes naturally. I can't express in words how huge of an advantage this is. Finally, their marketing is brilliant. There is a reason that their competitors have sunken to either blatantly copying their strategies or downright insulting them. Until someone recognizes this, their competitors can break down their products and try to create their own that address Apple's shortcomings, but all but the most techno-savvy people could care less. What people want are easy to use devices that are well and beautifully designed and can take a little punishment. Apple is one company that has recognized this.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) If there's ever a year for Walker to earn his salary...between Teahen and Rios, he's got 2 guys who have the talent to rip a hole in the central, but who haven't lived up to it the last couple years. Yeah, great point.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) If we could somehow get Teahen to flash the form he was showing as a kid in 2006 this would be a spectacular move. Man he cost us a lot that year He went pretty crazy with the stick in the second half of 06'. I think that is when many thought he was reaching his potential. Unfortunately, he did not maintain that. However, he's still a relatively young guy who should be in his prime years, so hopefully we can get him on track and reap the benefits.
  6. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) He's even worse at 2B than he is at 3B. You don't want that. Realistically, he should be playing RF or LF. Honestly, I think he's done fairly well considering they have a new position for him to play every month. Let's put him at 3rd, let him settle in, rake at the Cell, and watch Gordon do the same. All these UZR ratings and other metrics are going to be thrown around all offseason, but I think we'd be best just waiting til April and watching the kid play. This is not nearly the end of the world that some are making it out to be. Personally, I think it's something to be excited about.
  7. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) Keep in mind, that Teahen was projected by a plurality of scouts as a 35-homer guy. It's pretty clear now that he's not going to reach that, but the skillset remains. His propensity for doubles is a clear indicator of that. I expect to see a nice increase in power production in the Cell, and would not rule out 20-25 homers for the guy. Yeah, I think he'll hit 20-25 homers fairly easily. I really like the move - I think he is a perfect fit for us - but I understand I am in the large minority.
  8. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:59 PM) Now this deal makes sense to me. But I still want to know how much cash we're getting because Beltre is out there, and Beltre is about a zillion times better than Teahen. NOW it makes sense? This possibility has been on the table since the moment the deal was leaked...
  9. QUOTE (League @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) Teahen has put up positive UZR's at 3rd in the past, his numbers are dragged down by 2/3 s***ty years. He may be salvageable over there. I seem to remember him being quite solid in 05' and 06' or something...I swear he was looking solid defensively when he started settling in with the Royals...I remember him robbing us all the time and Hawk talking about how good he was going to be...
  10. QUOTE (tommy @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) KENNY just said Teahen plays 3B and Beckham is our new starting 2B, well holy s***. Woo hoo!
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 11:00 AM) S'Later then Mr Dye. The women of depaul will miss you. Kincaid's?
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 05:00 PM) They're not going to let Bay walk just to give Hermidia a spot. They'll let him walk if the Yankees offer him $180/8, but they're not going to let him walk for this guy. The Red Sox always like to have a deep OF, esp with Drew out there who is Mr. Glass. Baldelli was a similar player this year. Wonder if they might be shoring things up in case there was really some truth to that Jacoby to the White Sox rumor?
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) So with Teahen and Kotasy, we pretty much have backups for every position including catcher right? And ss
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 03:09 PM) Man trades make people say crazy things. Lead off Beckham, putting Rios in the 2-hole, getting Alex Gordon. We have many months ahead, I guarantee this is the first of many moves made this offseason. KW knows that his starting rotation needs some support and he also knows that a youth movement is coming with the leadership that players like Beckham brings. If I would have told you last night we would make this trade today, you would have said I was saying crazy things...in fact, I've been predicting we would go after Teahan for 6 months now and people did say I was crazy.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) I thought Getz and Ramirez were an awful combo and had no rhythm when turning the double play (Getz's arm was also extremely weak on the relay). I thought Getz's arm was fine...my issue was with Alexei arriving late to take the feeds...
  16. This might excite me more if it was Alex Gordon instead of Teahan.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:56 PM) How versatile are you really when you suck just about everywhere you play on the field? Real hard to get excited about Mark Teahen, he doesn't do a whole hell of a lot well. Is that really true? Can someone show us some defensive metrics? I seem to remember Teahan being a solid 3b...my guess is the numbers say he isn't, which is why you have the opinion that you do. Could he really be any worse at 3rd than Gordon?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) Wow, I'm not a fan. Getz and Fields for a guy that will make 4M in salary. Makes very little sense to me. However, I will say that I like Teahan, but wow, opened up a major hole at 2B. There are guys out there who could fill that hole and none of them with the possible exception of Beckham (if a 3B is brought in) or Retherford (who has raked at every level, although that is no guarantee that he'll do the same at the big league level) are on the Sox. Sox have to be getting cash back or something. I really think Mark is a solid player and a very versatile pick-up, but at the same time the finances of this deal don't make sense. I think we'll find out its Fields for Teahan. Why do you assume Teahan wouldn't play 3rd?
  19. QUOTE (League @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) Kenny hasn't being saying that. His moves have been speaking to the contrary, in fact. Adding Peavy, Rios and now Teahen is throwing around some serious cash. I think there is going to be a big salary or two coming off the board still...so I don't think this means we are necessarily adding payroll by any means. Keep in mind Teahan also plays some 1b...
  20. QUOTE (League @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) Until I hear Ozzie or Kenny say that, I'm not believing it. Yeah, who is saying this? The NY Daily News reporter who looked at where Teahan played last year? No one can possibly know our plans for Teahan until Kenny and Ozzie come out and say it.
  21. If they move Teahan back to third, I love the move. If they put him in RF, I am very disappointed.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:21 AM) God damn it... This deal makes no sense at all. Add salary, open a hole at 2B, and we don't even get a prospect. For Mark Teahen. Wonderful. Hate to say I told you so...
  23. Why do you guys think that? Pedro pitched pretty well in game 2... He's going to have to, because Petitte shut down Utley/Howard/Ibanez in game 3. The Phils need big games out of their righthanded bats tonight.
  24. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Nov 4, 2009 -> 08:38 AM) Asking this question completely neutral, but to those who think Pods can get 2 years from the White Sox, what other teams out there are going to offer him 2 years or 1 year at good money? There are going to be suitors for both Chone Figgins and Johnny Damon. Now I'm not sure if either of those guys will get away from their current teams, but their are teams out there who are very interested in their services. And a few of those teams are going to come up empty in that pursuit. They'll then look around the marketplace, see that Podsednik is available, coming off a .300 season, they'll see he played average defense this year, good team guy, and they'll throw him a bone at 2 years and $8 million or 10 million. I dunno, I could be way off base here. All we can do is wait. But that is my theory.
  25. Ok, I guess you can trade now, but just not sign free agents...
