Barring injury, it doesn’t appear the organization has interest in promoting Vaughn until late next spring. Also, I wouldn’t say 2/$20M after this season is big money (assuming Boston eats half). Historically, EE has not performed well in the playoffs while JDM has.

I realize he’s had a terrible start to the season and he’s paid handsomely the next two seasons but I wonder if the Red Sox would consider dumping JDM just to shed some of his salary? EE + low level prospect for JDM + cash. Doubtful I know but I’d love a trade like that for a proven playoff performer.

You wouldn’t think it would be this hard to find a viable DH. Thankfully we already have an in-house solution in McCann/Grandal (whoever isn’t catching that day).

Said that yesterday. No way he should have been playing yesterday with how he looked. Also said sometimes managers need to save players from themselves.

EE will be one and done so if the organization thinks Vaughn gives them a better chance to win over the next 5 weeks+ then give him a shot. Probably would be good for the kid to get some playoff experience too.
