  1. Absolutely should have traded him. Not trading him was egregious. I don’t care if you take a “lesser” return because a lesser return could still be a lot better than the return this offseason plus you risk injury. Dumb.
  2. While I don’t expect the Sox to spend a ton of money this winter, I’ve been saying for awhile that I think they make Anthony Santander their #1 offseason target. Just seems like the typical Sox target so I wouldn’t pencil in guys like Fletcher and Colas into the OF just yet.
  3. Seems like the left side of the staring infield next season is Montgomery (3b) and Baldwin (SS). I’m down with that. Sosa is fine at 2b. Vargas can play the utility role full time (IF/OF).
  4. If the Sox had a competent GM Crochet would have been moved for a haul last month and Robert would have been moved for a haul last offseason but here we are
  5. But I was assured his trade value would be better than last month if they just hold on to him longer. He’s following the Moncada path and will have negative surplus value by the last year of his contract.
  6. Doesn’t a guy like Baldwin fit this mold though? I think you can win a lot of games with a roster full of Brooks Baldwin’s.
  7. Take a look, many of the Os guys graduated and/or were traded. They start to get very thin once Holliday also loses prospect status in a month. They’ll have just two T100 guys then.
  8. Not if they’re shitty until 2030 like @southsider2k5 predicts
  9. Again, they’re going to have waves of prospects coming thru just like the Orioles have had in recent years. Like the Orioles, the Sox are going to have several years of high draft picks as well as signing of free agents with the sole purpose of flipping them for prospects every July. No doubt they’re going to have a top 3 and likely even top farm system for a few years. That’s not my concern, my concern is development and sustained success. People laughed when I said the Orioles window is going to close quicker than most think. “But look at how stocked their farm system is!” Holliday will be graduating from prospect status soon (assuming he doesn’t suck ass again and get demoted) so pretty soon their #3 prospect is Enrique Bradfield (seems to me their farm system depth is depleting). Easy to tank and be an annual seller. Hard to put a team over the top and sustain contender status while maintaining a strong farm system like the Dodgers or Astros.
  10. So all the critiques of Fedde from May were resolved two months later? No mlb track record, one year wonder at age 30+, etc.? Seems like many are playing both sides of the coin here. He returned exactly what I expected him to return. I never believed he was returning a top 100 guy. Just like I didn’t believe Jack Flaherty was either.
  11. They have a great shot of landing the top draft pick in 2026 if that makes you feel any better? Grady Emerson sounds fun.
  12. And if you asked people here what they thought they would get for Fedde back in April/May many didn’t think they’d even get a single 45/50 FV prospect.
  13. Fangraphs has the Sox farm system as #3 in MLB now. After they trade Crochet and Robert this offseason they’ll be #1. Additionally, they’re going to be bad the next couple years so more high draft picks and signing/trading of free agent rentals for additional prospects the next two summers. They’ll be a consistent top 3 farm system for the next few years so that won’t be the issue. The issue is will Jerry allow for high end free agent signings with the payroll sitting well below $100M in the coming seasons and will the Sox be able to develop their top rated prospects at the mlb level once they’re there?
  14. Said in another thread, Robert is our future Moncada. They’ll hold on to him until the end of his contract and get nothing for him. Fans here will rejoice when he’s no longer on the team.
  15. Next we’ll see how accurate my 55 FV + 2 45/50 FV prospect prediction was for Crochet
  16. I originally thought Fedde would return a 45/50 FV + flier. I think most would have been happy about that and some even questioned he’d return that much. It’s difficult to separate his exact return in the 3 team trade but it appears he essentially returned a 45 FV prospect + Vargas (who is likely equivalent to a 45/50 FV prospect at this point). Pretty good guess back in April and certainly more than most expected at that time.
  17. Been saying for awhile, Robert’s current value isn’t near what most here seem to think it is. It’s fine, we’ll hold on to him until the bitter end of his contract and get nothing for him ala Moncada.
  18. We have no idea if there’s any truth to what Heyman reported. Regardless, Fedde, Kopech, Brebbia, Banks, Flexen, Wilson are all on the block. Miller being unavailable might actually result in Kopech returning a 45 FV prospect.
  19. Mason Miller off the trade market due to injury. That combined with the Rangers back in the playoff race certainly helps the Sox leverage.
  20. Just saying even a guy like Mayo will be a bust here if we’re being honest
  21. Let’s be honest, guys like Mayo have no shot either. Might as well load up on pitching and try to win games 2-1.
  22. I think that’s the argument. Does being durable make you an ace though? Kyle Gibson has been extremely durable but does that make him anything more than a solid #4?
