  1. Who are all these players you speak of? You haven’t mentioned any yet!
  2. Because there are none (I can check the list too)
  3. @WhiteSox2023 I’m still waiting for this long list…
  4. Nope. Not with the budgetary constraints he was under. What useful players were available for less than $5M?
  5. I don’t think any of the position players are tradable for anything useful. Then again, I don’t think they could have signed any last offseason that were. Their biggest value is in providing a strong defense for the pitching staff. I think Fedde will be their biggest trade chip this July unless they decide to move Crochet.
  6. I’d be willing to make a large bet that a few Sox pitchers traded this summer bring back a handful of useful prospects. Hell, Kelly and Lynn’s suck ass brought back some last July. And they were expensive too. Today alone we hear that two aces in Strider and Beiber are down with TJS. Good pitchers are dropping like flies early in the season more than I’ve ever seen before.
  7. And again I’m ok with that considering the overall suckage of the roster that Getz inherited and the budgetary constraints he was under. They were a 100 loss team no matter who he signed last winter. At least they have a strong defense that will make these tradable pitchers like Fedde, Soroka, Wilson, Brebbia, Kopech look better than they actually are and get some useful prospects back in return come July.
  8. And that’s fine with me too. But I still think there’s more to the Jose R story than we know. Just a feeling. Why wasn’t he playing in Charlotte? “Attending to a family matter” ok
  9. You’d rather have the $5.5M reliever with a 9 ERA? It was a salary dump for both sides, although I think the Sox got the only potentially useful long term piece in Shewmake in that trade.
  10. I’m not worried about it. Isn’t like half the 40-man gone after this season anyways? Seems like they’re going to have a ton of space and even now could easily create it if they wanted.
  11. I don’t want the Sox rushing ANY prospects to MLB until they’re fully ready, ESPECIALLY in a lost season. I don’t want to see Thorpe, Montgomery, Ramos, etc this season at all. Honestly, I don’t even want to see Sosa. Why start the service time on any of these guys in a lost season when any hopes for actually competing are still 2-3 years out at a minimum?
  12. Who gives a s%*# in a lost season? None of these moves even matter. As long as they aren’t tying themselves up to horrible long term contracts like Javy Baez or Anthony Rendon I don’t care. Eloy and Moncada are off the books after this season and then they essentially have a clean slate from a payroll perspective. I’ll care more next offseason when they actually start spending money on multi year contracts.
  13. Btw, can you imagine a Cease trade centered around Westburg and Hall? With the way Westburg has started this season, I can’t even imagine how livid folks would be around here. “Look, Getz traded Cease for a 25 year old utility player! And a 25 year old 5th starter!”
  14. Because the rest of the roster is garbage. This wasn’t going to turn around in one offseason fathom. You know that. This is a multiple year rebuild, which is why I was advocating that the return on a Cease trade be centered around young players with high ceilings rather than guys like Jordan Westburg and Nicky Ortiz.
  15. $4.3M is not too expensive for a solid utility player. I disagree.
  16. At least Nicky plays excellent defense. He’s a useful player if used in the right matchups like he was last year. Actually, he’s the prototypical utility infielder because he’s versatile and runs well too. The Sox 40 man roster is so weak that Nicky if forced into a full time role. Either way, he’s one of the least of their concerns right now.
  17. And Steven Wilson looked excellent last night as well. That’s my closer.
  18. I’m no Getz apologist but the haters are sure quiet about this one so far and very focused on the Fletcher trade. At the big league level, Steven Wilson is looking very good so far too and looks to be very flippable in a few months for additional prospects to effectively add to the Cease haul.
  19. Exactly why I’m skeptical they have an innings limit on him. Again, he pitches tomorrow meaning it will be his 3rd start in their first 9 games. At this rate, he’s going to have 20 starts (~120 innings) by the 4th of July.
  20. And if he doesn‘t “hit a wall” what then? Innings limit anyways?
  21. No. You said he will inevitably get injured by throwing too many innings. How did that work in prior years? Not well. He hardly pitched and was hurt a lot. So if he’s throwing well and feeling good into this summer why would you impose a limit? I have yet to see any evidence that a magical number of innings two years post TJS will prevent injury.
  22. How about we see how he’s going in another couple months? If he’s still going strong and feeling good, why arbitrarily impose a limit?
  23. They sure aren’t starting the season like there’s one and has anyone from the organization said there’s a limit? I’m just saying, their actions so far this season certainly don’t point to a limit and if he’s still throwing the ball well why impose one? He hardly threw any innings the past 5 years and that didn’t keep him healthy.
  24. He’s about to start his third game of the season in two days which means he will have started 3 of the Sox first 9 games. Does it look like they have an innings limit on him, man?
