  1. Sheets has no place on this roster if he isn’t going to hit. I’m not arguing that but the Sox don’t need another DH. Vaughn/Eloy already have that covered. Schwarber had one good month but has been pedestrian otherwise. Just find it funny that people constantly complain about the roster’s lack of flexibility and poor defensive outfield play. Yet, same people are advocating for Schwarber lol
  2. Yea, great fit. Another DH, like the Sox don’t have enough of those already.
  3. Unfortunately, you get the 131 strikeouts and poor defense and baserunning that come with it too. This team is (maybe) one win better if they had signed Schwarber last winter.
  4. And yet, somehow I feel many here would be dissatisfied to see the Sox in first place soon. Almost like they already wrote the team off and/or dislike Hahn/TLR so much that they’d rather see the team fail.
  5. We haven’t heard much about Schwarber lately (I wonder why?) so we have to find another random recent free agent to play the what-if game.
  6. Sox have enough DHs already. They need someone that can play OF the next few months.
  7. Yes, they need someone that can help this season. Worry about next season in 3 months.
  8. The Sox need a hitter to help them now, not next season.
  9. Conforto does nothing to help the team this season
  10. Braves brass likely had a similar conversation a year ago with Acuna done for the season and even further out of the division lead at the end of July.
  11. Refreshing to see a guy actually know how to get a bunt down. Lost art that played a huge role in winning the game.
  12. Now, you’re right. The Astros relied on cheating to win their one championship.
  13. Multiple wild card teams won the World Series despite long odds. Last season in the NFL the Rams had to play an extra playoff round (Bengals too) because they weren’t a top 2 seed. I realize the odds are worse if you’re not but it’s more important to get hot at the right time than be well rested.
  14. It’s baseball. Get in the playoffs, get hot at the right time and anyone can beat anyone else over a small sample size. The Braves were 50-54 and 6 GB this time last year. I’m sure their fans were having the same debate. I bet they’re glad they added At the deadline.
  15. Does that trade even make the Dodgers that much better this season? I’m not sure it does.
  16. Out of curiosity, what was the best potential offer floated in this hypothetical?
  17. To make it somewhat feasible from a financial perspective, the Sox would have to include a couple MLB players like Giolito and Eloy along with prospects. Can’t see it working from the money side with the Sox sending prospects only.
  18. I think it’s close. Of course a lot depends on how you value Giolito. If you think he’s this season’s version moving forward it’s far different than the version coming into the season.
  19. Giolito + Montgomery + Colas + Sosa + Cespedes for Ohtani. Who says no?
  20. I’d rather have Tyler Naquin than Joey Gallo for the rest of this season. That’s how highly I think of Gallo.
  21. Lambert is a stud. When’s the last time he allowed a run?
  22. Let’s put a bow on this one and head into the weekend 2 games back of the division lead. Everyone still want to sell before the deadline?!?
