  1. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 12:59 AM) Only 8.5 games out boys! One waiver claim away.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) And Addison Russell's offense has caught up to his defense. The Cubs have 3-4 possible MVP candidates for the next three years. Talk about hitting it big. Its one thing to have cant miss prospects but to have so many that follow through with reaching full potential is remarkable.
  3. I am not going to overreact to what KW said. It doesnt really mean anything anymore because they can only show me with actions at this point. Make a team that produces Wins and gets into the playoffs and I will be fine. Its really simple... I dont need the logic behind it... I dont need the fluff for the media... I dont need to be able to say I was right... I dont need any one person in the FO to have control... I dont have to see the Kenny sucks ot that Rick sucks or that we need a new owner.... just fix this damn thing, whoever that may be and do it fast.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) hell yes I did. Did it at my first concert which was Bonnie Raitt Somewhere in between you let the American dream die and replaced it with British things. I bet you talk with an accent like this. Oh wait, my British accent doesn't translate through the keys. Dammit.

QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) They are bad when they are an obligation, which they often are. I've seen very few legitimate encores in my life. Have you ever participated in yelling ENCORE...ENCORE....ENCORE...and have them come out after your repeated requests? Didnt think so, you havent f***ing lived, bmags.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) I want to say either hip or knee replacement. I dont remember it being something life threatening I thought he didn't give a reason, even to his colleagues. I wouldnt think he would be so hush hush for something like a hip or knee replacement but I could be wrong.
  7. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Perfect response,,,,,maybe for a Hawk hatin' cub fan. Perfect response,,,,maybe for a soxtalk trollin hawk fan.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) Does this work https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-footb...-team-nfl-sack/ I know it says it's not secure but that's a real blog, I think they screwed up their wpengine cert. EdiT: here it is sans blog post: https://t.co/Uj1BK4OD6E Woah s***. Bullard had a lil Tommie Harris in him there.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) Bullard has really nice get-off. As advertised. The bullard-Floyd stunt that led to the sack was worth the whole game. I missed this play somehow. Floyd is going to look terrible whenever anyone gets a body on him though, as expected I guess. But when you don't he is going to blow some QB's the hell up.
  10. If he winds up signing with the Hawks it sure shows how much he liked being courted more than actually having trouble deciding, doesnt it?
  11. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Damn, that sucks. I hope he gets better, but it's unlikely. Say what you want about him, but it's pretty admirable that he continues to do the job he loves even with his health declining. A heart arrhythmia is not a terminal illness. People can have these things and then never have another occurrence again.
  12. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 12:28 AM) You "love the bantar" ? OK.. I prefer a play-by-play announcer that is more focused on the game and has a better feel for it than Benetti. He is consumed with the bantar and inane questioning of Stone because that is all he has in his own playbook. This season has been a long one and Benetti's perpetual interview of Steve Stone asking ever more inane questions have made listening to the broadcasts unbearable at times. What is most annoying to me is his inability to follow the action in real time, describe it with accuracy as it is happening, and impart excitement when it is called for. As I pointed out, Benetti often raises his voice on routine fly balls. I'm fine with someone who has never played professional baseball, but the Peter principle set in for this guy a long time ago. Maybe back at HF. It's never going to be popular to criticize Benetti because of his disability and I am sensitive to that. Putting that aside the fact is that Benetti's skill set is not up to par with his peers, not even close to other major league baseball play-by-play announcers. It won't be long before he gawn, IMHO. Hawk has been involved in the game of baseball for decades and he still has a problem with this. He will jump out of his seat for a pop up 25 feet in front of the warning track.
  13. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 08:26 AM) Fuller considered to be out several weeks now. With that, Bears are meeting with Antonio Cromartie today. Does Cromartie have anything left? The secondary is really the last place on this Bears team that can afford any injuries at all.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Such a bummer, there seemed to be so much potential after that first season. It may have all just been thanks to Peanut on the other side. The first half of his first season he showed some promise but he fell off. And has been pretty mediocre to just flat out bad since that time. The awfulness of Emery continues to step on nut sacks.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Like clockwork. Honestly though, it still doesnt validate how DA lumps a few peoples opinion to cover the span of the entire board population. He does this often. You just did it to but I am not going to make it seem like there are a bunch of posters that do that.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Uh, Shipps? You must have put him up to this nonsense.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) Sounds like what goes on in most threads. So now you are generalizing every thread on the board to be like exactly like a gamethread because there are bad posts within some of them? Color me shocked.
  18. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:05 PM) So much for that. Kyle Fuller shut down for preseason due to an unspecified knee injury. They were hinting at surgery this morning. I dont think he is in the Bears future at this point. He isnt one of their guys and he hasnt showed much of anything. This regime doesnt play around too much when you have those to descriptions next to your name.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 03:03 PM) So opinions in a game thread don't count? I guarantee you if Fulmer busts, these same posters will be pointing out they told everyone so back in a game thread. Obviously, this year hasn't gone as planned for him, but sometimes failure makes you better. I still like this guy. No they dont count at all. Game threads are the lowest common denominator of baseball knowledge than any thread in the universe. How do you not know this by now? You just choose to pretend that people are actually attempting at giving well thought out opinions and you then generalize a group of fans to fitting the narrative of your choice. Game threads are posters typing their emotions for that little voice in their heads while they are watching their team.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) Some have written him off. Read a gamethread. Until a highly touted White Sox pitcher fails, I'm going to think they know what they are doing with them . Positions players, I'm with the complainers. Assume the worst. A game thread!? You have to be kidding me. Game threads are no indication of what people actually believe and you know that.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 02:45 PM) He wasn't having problems. I don't see what is wrong with challenging a guy, and keeping his innings, which were going to be limited, in check. He pitched about 9 innings. Big deal. This could have been the plan all along. If he could contribute to the bullpen and they were contending, he probably is still on the team. Now they can send him down, stretch him out and bring him back for a couple of starts, and he and the team will have a better idea of where he stands for next season instead of just hoping. Some have already written him off as a wasted draft pick. LOL DA you know damn well anybody that would do that just doesnt know baseball. I havent even seen anybody to say that and if you did you cant paint the picture as if there are a group of people that believe that. You are being overly dramatic as usual.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) The roster has a lot to do with winning and losing. The reality is most managers who are supposedly great have had some really bad years and it wasn't because they were suddenly stupid. If Robin is a big part of the problem, the roster isn't nearly as bad as many want to make it. Would that be fair? It would be a fair decision, yes. Robin hasnt had a great year and he has been here a while. They have given him the benefit of the doubt for years now and he has actually had a tenure here as if he has had success (when he hasn't). A lot easier to find out the root of problems by eliminating one you know is part of it than it is to remove the whole team. Its bad all the way around right now but it certainly isnt necessary to be the keep Robin drum.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) You are delusional if you think it suddenly makes this team any better. All he was saying was great fire Robin. The reality is he is the least of the White Sox problems. There are several players you should hope get "fired" before him. How would you know that? As a fan that doesnt have insight to what goes on behind the scenes I would think the most effective way of judging a manager is by a good sample size of baseball seasons of making or not making the playoffs, to start. Then you see if they have control of the locker room. Players doing what they want or throwing tantrums dont help a managers case.
  24. Bears, its preseason so not a big deal but for the love of God don't look terrible again tonight.
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 18, 2016 -> 11:04 AM) The Yankees did what any team in their position at that time with in-demand veterans would have done. It was long overdue, and turned them into thev#3 farm system in baseball, to go along with their virtually unlimited financial resources. Good position for them by 2018. This is part of what I think is over blown nowadays. Its only half the battle to get a great farm system but if those players dont stay away from injury, develop skill and maturity, and then eventually produce at the major league level it doesnt mean anything. That is a long way to go. People with highly rated farm systems don't impress me too much. Its fine and I would probably rather have a highly rated system then not but I would most certainly take a system that isnt ranked high but consistently cranks out a stud here and there every year. The best teams find a way to do that no matter the rank.
