  1. Coop is old school and set in his ways. I don't take it personal when he says politically incorrect things.
  2. LOL You can cut the whitesox fan angst with a butter knife at this point. For the process of healing to start he just needs to sign somewhere already.
  3. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Mibelt Rodriguez ‏@MibeltRodriguez 1m1 minute ago The #Mets and #WhiteSox are the frontrunner to sign Yoenis Cespedes. He's looking for a minimum 4 years contract (1/2). 0 retweets 0 likes Reply Retweet Like More Mibelt Rodriguez ‏@MibeltRodriguez now @MibeltRodriguez The #Mets haven't make an offer to Cespedes, and they won't go beyond 3 years. 4. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) guess what.......... everyone has an opinion, and many times it can be different from anyone and everyone else. just b/c opinions are different esp from the mods / admin should that constitute the mods / admin on jumping on them...... poster should not feel threaten if one posters opinions happens to be different!!!!! now if this difference brings out the lack of age of that person, why is it the other person fault. difference of opinion is what make the soxtalk board great. And this is exactly my point. Why is it that mods/admins can't have any opinions? Nobody feels threatened by you, believe me, and age has nothing to do with it either so I am not sure what you are referring to there. If you or anyone else has a problem or concern with the mod/admin team it should be done by pm. We can go back and forth that way without clogging up threads of speculation.
  5. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 19, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) and the admin and mods should be above the petty stuff...... reminds me of davers. this narrative of yours that the mods/admins are against all and classless is really a narrowed minded and juvenile notion. Many of us have been here for nearly a decade and over and have only become mods/admins at some point because the owner of the site realized that we care about the site and its content. If you want a board that has mods/admins as robots and they dont participate in any of the talk then go somewhere else. Have you ever thought about the quality of what you are posting instead of constantly trying to judge the mod team?
  6. Man, the Sox fanbase is going to blow up when Cespedes signs elsewhere. LOL You guys gotta know with everything that has happened with these other FA's that Cespedes is going to sign elsewhere right? People! Prepare yourselves for the end of your Sox world.
  7. So as I suspected the Tigers had whatever money these guys were asking for but in the end they decided they liked Upton more than Cespedes. It would have been way worse if they would have signed Cespedes though, knowing we werent in on Upton at all. I still cant understand why Upton wanted NOTHING to do with the Sox. It seems like it was more than just a money issue being that he wouldnt even talk with them.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 05:28 PM) Atta boy! Oh he's going to meltdown.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) Who reported we made a 3/$55M offer? Levine was saying that is where the Sox are looking to sign him at but he didnt say it was an official offer.
  10. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 04:29 PM) 47th in wRC+ (121) since he came into the league. That's not good enough to be considered "great". Ooohhh okay. I have no idea what this means. LMAO
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Funny read from an Astros writer POV. He makes some good points that won't be popular with folks that want the Sox to sign Cespedes. http://www.crawfishboxes.com/2016/1/18/107...igning-cespedes "Second, Cespedes isn't a great hitter. I'll pause while the over-reactors pontificate. Done yet? He's not a great hitter. He's a good hitter coming off of a magnificent walk year. And the most important thing to know is: never get involved in a land war in Asia. Only slightly less important is this: never overpay for a free agent after an awesome walk year that could be classified as an outlier." In this day and age where we dont see as many power hitting sluggers across the league I would have to ask him why he wouldnt put Cespedes in the category of the great hitters. I guess it all depends on what this guy considers "great" but look around, you dont see guys putting up huge offensive numbers anymore. If it werent for the popularity of sabermetrics that we have now there would be a lot of small boring numbers for fans to argue about. Cespedes is in the bottom part of the top tier offensive guys in the league in my opinion.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) There's one of the several money quotes on it from that article. Damn. That does not look good for the Sox org. Even if its not a definite knock on them, maybe he didnt listen to what he was being told when he was here and could have been the same exact thing that they are teaching him there. But either way a comment like that doesnt look good.
  13. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:28 AM) Don't know if anyone noticed but in the top ten for Shortstop Marcus Semien was listed at #8 . I was surprised. I thought he was having an atrocious season defensively but by the metrics he was okay.
  14. QUOTE (Special K @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:07 AM) I'm just saying, if the Sox are going to dole out their biggest contract ever, I could see it for a guy like Upton as opposed to a Cespedes. And perhaps if the money were there, he might reconsider. From all the reports that I have heard and including Levine this morning, the Sox arent offering their biggest contract ever. They are trying to get Cespedes at 3/50-55 so they arent going to go into Upton territory and even if they did he seems dead set on not coming here. So as far as I can tell we arent going to get either big name OF.
  15. QUOTE (Special K @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) Call me crazy, but, I've got a feeling we scoop up Upton. Kenny loves Upton and lest we forget, Kenny always gets his guy. Whether it be Griffey, Jr., Robbie Alomar, Dunn, Edwin Jackson... Doesn't matter. Kenny always gets his guy. Multiple sources have said that Upton has already declined the Sox at least twice. He doesnt want to be here for whatever reason. Its not going to happen.
  16. The Score has been reporting that Cespedes is going to make a decision very soon on where he is going to sign. Where are they getting that from?
  17. Is it pronounced Dowel Lah-gins? Or do Dowell Lo-gins? I always thought it was pronounced Lah-gins but some of these radio guys like Mulley and Jim Miller keep on with Lo-gins and it drives me nuts! Jim Miller keeps on repeating it over and over again too. Am I the wrong one here?
  18. If Davis would just sign with the O's it would change the whole game with Cespedes. He would then truly have to take a lesser contract because there is no one else willing, it seems, that would be able to pay him Orioles money. Davis take the damn money already dude. WTH are you waiting on? No one else is going to give you over 125mil.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 15, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Wow Sox clearly didn't want him back Which I dont quite understand but whatever. Its nothing I am going to be mad about being he hasnt been the player we have needed the past couple years. He will probably have even more of a fall off next year as well.
  20. There is a lot of hate for Avi right now but the beauty of sports is that fans can forget about their hatred and their opinions of you after you put together a couple of good months. Avi has all the tools to succeed and I would love to see him put it together just to teach people a lesson (that they will never learn). But likely he wont, however. LOL
  21. He was really funny in that interview. He has that dry humor that I love and wont take it as far as say, Farmer. Plus the guy is an uber-smart dude. Totally look forward to listening to his call.
  22. Ramirez is one of the guys that I always thought would have shined on the big stage in a big playoff game if given the opportunity. Too bad he never really got to experience that with the Sox.
  23. The O's are probably just calling the bluff of Davis to get him to come down on his price. If the O's are targeting Cespedes as their number 1 and have moved on from Davis I think the deal would have been done a week ago. But who really knows this off season painstakingly slow moving with everyone trying to manipulate the other.
  24. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) He's also paid $10 million more than Avi and will cost talent to acquire. Is that really worth a 1 WAR upgrade? I would rather take the chance that Avi progresses. I think Bruce is done. There is no way in the world anyone winds up paying that whole 10mil and I would doubt you would have to give up much of anything to get him. I personally dont have interest in him but the Sox do tend to stay fixated on certain players that they like and pursue them when the buy is low.
  25. He was worth 1 WAR over Avi last year. So technically he would still be an upgrade unless Avi makes that jump.
