got it, just saw the details, I now think your post is relevant. I apologize. Now the sox will wait to see how he heals and tries to make a go of it. The contract thing will end up taking all year. Time for KW to work the phones. We will need a left handed outfield bat with some pop. Doesn't have to be a lot of pop just some.

who is talking surgery
-
Radio guys did the same thing
-
and when his injury goes away next week?
-
so Sandy confirmed it and Maggs denied it? I am certian there have been many offers, but not the one we are talking about. Maggs is all ove rth enws denying this and Sandy is saying the opposite. One of them needs to keep there mouth shut.
-
ACTUALLY, I completely agree

What panic...The sox will not trade maggs if they are in the race. They will remain the main player to resign him and they will also have an opportunity after the year is over to resign him. Calm down. Pray the Sox are in it. Enjoy the damn season, lets worry about winning this year and leave next year to Soxfest questions. If we fall apart in a month then we can think about what and who we will trade. make sense?

Did I mention we will need to manufacture runs early in the game? -
Chicago White Sox @ Oakland Athletics Game Thread

This looks like a game we will need to manufacture runs early. Time to use bunts and sacrafices early. We should manufacture early. -
Well it looks like the story was false, at least according to Maggs who was on the radio today and denied the story. Therefore, we all have speculated about this and run our minds and hearts crazy. Its all gossip.

A couple of things, yes he did deny that the report out of New York was wrong, secondly, I will say that this must be more than a strain. If he cannot go the first game in seattle, than just DL him. Whether he is a wimp, or we are cautious or there is more to it, if he can't go by the weekend, DL him.

It appears there is not need for this thread considering you have eliminated everyone on this list. It appears nobody would be interested in Maggs and paying him. Please print out this thread. at the end of the year lets see if one of those teams will be in the bidding! Dodgers- They need hitting and a star. They have a new owner and no they wouldn't put it to other needs. Like what? Pitching? they have lots of it. Mets- they really have a salary cap of about 110 million if they wanted too. orioles- have been trying to unload Gibbons for awhile- get rid of Gibbons and get maggs, which would you rather have? Giants- Bonds will retire within two years or he will get kicked out of baseball by the attorney general. One or the other- The guy is 40. Cubs- Don't count them out. High profile team, lots of endorsements, national exposure, and doesn't have to move. think about it. Seattle- Year after year they have a payroll around 90 million. Thats alot more than the Sox, and Maggs is there type of player. Line drive RBI guy. They will need to regroup in a tough division. Maggs would be a great pickup. Sox- I agree we ahve a good shot but a better shot right now, not later. Once others start courting you could lose him. people roll out red carpets, he knows what he has here. No endorsements, half filled ballpark, low payroll, cheap owners, no national exposure unless we win the world series.

Actually I don't think it was a mistake at all. This could turn out to be a great motivator for the team, not Rauch. KW stuck up for the team, it keeps things together. Rauch can be sacraficed, but this shows the enitre team that KW is in there corner. On the other side, If the team forgives him, and he pitches again they just might kick it into another gear and rally around him. Quite frankly, its a ploy management uses in business when a team of people are grouped togehter to complete a task. The MEts are already interested in Rauch. There will be more.

Glavine is the head of the Players union, not just for the mets. He is the single player rep who is extremely active. JR hates the players union and Glavine does not like JR. That won't happen. lieter might be a better choice.
-
Teams that would be interested in Maggs and can pay for him. Dodgers- Need offense. They will get rid of Green if they can. mets- Will take him and trade others. orioles- have claimed they are already interested in him and have him as a target. Seattle- Winn will be gone. Edgar will be gone. garcia will be gone- Enough money there. Cubs-Yes the Cubs- Sammy may resign but not for the kind of money he is getting. Couple that with not resigning Alou and you have Magglio numbers. Giants- Going out on a limb here but they will cut payroll this year and they need somebody to back up Bonds and eventually take over for him when he retires. Whitesox- What will probably happen is we will keep him unless we collapse. If we are in it, I am certian we will get a chance to match any offer.

If Crede was playing well, it doens't happen. I think Uribe maybe playing more third in the next week.
-
sent you an email are you sure you won't go today? we can hang out at abar if it gets rained out
-
this is one I didn't think of, but would be concerned we give up all of our top talent to do this. I actually only see them getting one fifth starter, unless we unload some folks on our roster like rowand or Maggs. Don't see maggs going yet. I will easily get rid of Rowand.

Jim, Jamie burke would have been my choice. Seems strange other than getting someone to put down a bunt or pinch run.

I am not going, your on your own Ross
