JPN, how dare you. There has yet to be a game that can rival the awesomeness of MVP 2005. Besides, The Show >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2K They might have a lot of options, but their gameplay is terrible, IMO.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:41 AM) With Owens gone, Pods in Chicago... I'd bet Cook goes back to Charlotte in the OF there. Jordan Danks then in B-Ham. Yeah, I just read about that after I made that post so it's a definite possibility... but that lineup would be pretty sick: 1. Danks2, CF 2. Beckham, SS 3. Flowers, C 4. Allen, 1B 5. Viciedo, 3B 6. Gartrell, RF 7. Cook, DH 8. Retherford, 2B 9. Shelby, LF Damn!
-
QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ May 2, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) Where would he play? I guess you bump Shelby somewhere? You'd have Danks in CF, Shelby in LF, and Gartrell in RF with Cook being the 4th OF and DH. In that case, sucks to be Lee Cruz.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) I believe Carl Everett, Ryan Bukvich, Tim Raines Jr., Keith Foulke, Tim Bittner and Oneli Perez are all on the Newark Bears' roster. Jerry would feel right at home. Tim Raines is also the manager... and Ron Karkovice is the hitting coach!

If Nix wants to secure a spot on this team, he should try and learn some OF.
-
When will we promote Danks to the awesomeness of Birmingham? Make an already awesome and ridiculously talented lineup even more so!

Wes with a great outing. 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 BB, 7 K's, no runs. Charlotte looking like a W tonight with a 4-0 lead late.

GAME THREAD: 5/2, Sox @ TEX, 7:05pm WGN
BearSox replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2009 Season in Review
wtf, did the Rangers still our opening? -
McCulloch got rocked in the first... Infante touched up a bit for the first time season. Gave up 4 runs (3 earned) in 5.2 innings, with only 1 K and 2 BB.

Do all the minor leagues use two umpire systems?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:47 AM) Worth noting is the difference between being surprised and disappointed. Maybe disappointed does factor in, but I'd still be surprised.

There is absolutely no reason to suspect Pujols, IMO. I've watched him since he came up, and neither his body nor head changed drastically between any seasons. Sure he has filled out into his frame, but everyone usually does, especially when you workout using MLB weight programs every year. I just don't see Pujols body being an effect from steroids or PED's.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:13 AM) And in his first outing he went 79 pitches. So what, shouldn't the pitch count increase with every outing than instead of decrease? You've just proven my point.

QUOTE (scenario @ May 2, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) You seem to be ignoring the fact that Feldman was starting to come apart. It doesn't really matter how well he was doing before that inning. We've all seen that act before... cough, cough, Javy Vazquez, cough. I'd hardly say he was falling apart. He got two outs, gave up a dorksnort single to Getz, Fields had a solid hit, and than he walked Quentin. And he handled Thome pretty damn easily in his first two AB's. All pitchers usually run into some trouble, but that is quite the stretch to say he's falling apart. Who knows, he may have very well given up a grand slam to Thome. But it was his game and I'm inclined to believe that the outcome might have been different. It's BS when managers take out starting pitchers when it's their game to win.
-
QUOTE (G&T @ May 2, 2009 -> 08:42 AM) This was only his second start of the season and was on a pitch count (per the Texas broadcast). Plus, Thome can't normally hit lefties. I don't think it was that bad of a move. He threw 77 pitches and had one out to go... It wasn't the pitch count that led to Washington taking him out, it was over managing. Feldman also had Thome's number on that night as well.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 09:33 AM) From everything we have learned about A-Rod in the past year, does this really surprise you? The Roids were definitely for stat padding, I have no doubt that ARod would be happier with a record than he would a world series ring However, I think we most had our suspicions about him before the PED reports came out. None of this news has surprised me. I think finding out stuff like this about Pujols would be a hell of a lot more surprising.
-
I think we all owe Ron Washington a big thank you for last night. Talk about a boneheaded move by taking out Feldman. Maybe the results would have been the same if Feldman stayed in, but taking him out right there was retarded. I know for a fact if I was Feldman, I wouldn't have given Washington the ball. f*** that, I'm having a great game, and as soon as I give up a couple of hits, you take me out? That's complete BS. I wonder what Nolan Ryan thought about that move last night from Washington... I am 99% sure Ryan didn't like that move one bit. However, as a White Sox fan, I'll take it!

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 1, 2009 -> 06:41 AM) You have this really predictable pattern of cognitive dissonance when you post. The fact that you're even attempting to argue this and think it's so absolute just shows where your mind is. Bulls***ting me doesn't really work, so at least stop bulls***ting yourself. I'm not bulls***ting you, all you need to do is look at the facts. Yes, FOX is a right wing station... but they aren't even close to the same level of bias and horrible journalism that is MSNBC.
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) lol whatever. It's the same. Eye of the delusional beholder. Give me a break. MSNBC is extremely hateful and will continually attack anyone who disagrees with them and refuse to insult Obama. There's a reason why they are in the s***ter. How many "news" channels will let people like Janeane Garofalo come on and call hundreds of thousands of people racists and stupid rednecks, without being challanged? It's not even close, and if you are trying to make them the same, you're the delusional one.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) Why is the concept of "It's voluntary" and "You can say stop" so hard to understand? Because if you supposedly care so much about human life, you shouldn't want anyone to go through "torture" voluntary or involuntary.

I found this funny.... http://news.bostonherald.com/track/celebri...terboard_offer/ So Mr. Olbermann, it's okay for someone to be waterboarded if it's someone you don't like and they are doing it for charity, but it's wrong to do it to some low life piece of trash terrorist who has info about possible targets and attacks? Being such a great moral person you are and standing up for the rights of these "misunderstood enemy combatants", why would you be in favor of someone getting waterboarded, even if it is by choice for charity? Instead, shouldn't you discourage someone from "torturing" themselves? Oh I think I know what it is, it's because Mr. Olbermann is a big fat fraud and has no business being on prime time TV every night!

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Fox Nation's Purpose Statement: It strikes me as if they are trying to have it both ways. Continue to lie to themselves by saying they are a "fair" news organization, but launch a far right website and say it's not REALLY the new organization. This line makes me laugh: "The Fox Nation is for those committed to the core principles of tolerance, open debate, civil discourse--and fair and balanced coverage of the news." Yet on the front page: Say what you will about Fox, but at least they aren't nearly half as bad as MSNBC.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) That would be the party of inclusion, right? He did say he would be happy to have a serious discussion, and one of the leaders of the tea parties said he'd be happy to have a discussion with Obama... so I'm sure that'll happen!!!!!!
-
Well, at least he's saving the economy by pumping in billions of dollars to these companies that need saving.... oh wait, that hasn't helped at all.
-
Nice one Mr. President. Making fun of the hundreds of thousands of PEACEFUL protesters at the Tea Party Protests on Tax Day. I'm losing more and more respect each day for this person I have to call President.
