This is probably where the idea of Jacob came from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacob Very interesting. Odds are that this is what they are basing the storyline with Jacob with. So I think I answered my own question. Issac is probably the one laying down the law.

Wow, one of the best episodes of any TV show I've ever seen. Pretty intense. The ending was pretty crazy. I can't wait to find out more about fake Locke. Also, I want to find out about the rules of the island. Because he had to find a loophole, could there possibly someone who lays down the law? Dog face statue guy? We need to find out more about him. Also, didn't they find the coffin with Locke? Or did they find the coffin and Locke after Locke already left? Finally, what was the answer to the question "What lies in the shadow of the statue?" Sounded like Richard answered in Spanish.

Since he already allowed the release of the documents, might as well release everything. Releasing the stuff in the first place was the stupid decision.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 13, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) Sounds good. Looking forward to those... And congrats on being done with HS! What are your plans for next year? Not to hijack the thread, but... I will be attending Harper Junior College (Paletine) and playing football there, hoping to earn a D-I scholarship.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) why did you use it as part of your title then? Um, cause that's the fun fact of the day. I saw that and was amazed. It just shows how badly he has been playing the past month.

With today being my last day of High School, I plan on doing a lot of reports in the upcoming weekend. I think I'll focus on some of the prep catchers, corner infielders, and pitchers.

Owned, look who's directly above you.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:25 PM) Is Ankiel a FA after this year? It's worth considering as well that the market could well be even worse next year. Doesn't matter if they're a Boras client if no one will offer more than $5 million for 1 year for these guys. Yep, Ankiel will be a FA, and with Rasmus, Duncan, and Ludwick, Ankiel seems to be the odd man out. I agree it's not a huge deal for players like him who probably won't command a ton to be Boras clients, but KW has the whole no Boras thing going on, so who knows. Another guy who could be intriguing for 3B (if we feel he can play it and would be the best option) or maybe even DH is we let both Thome and Dye go would be Hank Blalock. Doesn't walk enough for my liking, but he has cut down on his K's considerably, and always hits well at the cell. I also like his stance and approach.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 13, 2009 -> 09:17 PM) doesn't sizemore have more K's than josh? Bust? Fail on two accounts: 1. Sizemore is proven to be 10x the player Josh will ever be. 2. I never said K's were the reason he's a bust. K's factor in, but in today's game, you gotta look past K's a lot of times. Also, they are both at 39.

I would LOVE Jason Bay here and playing LF for us, but as others have stated, doubtful Boston lets him go. I would be all for aggressively going after him though. If Fields shows he isn't the answer at 3B and Viciedo hasn't made major improvements, Adrian Beltre might be worth a look, but he's a Boras client. Ankiel is another guy who'd be interesting in CF (especially if we let Thome go, we could use his LH bat), but again, he's a Boras client. Johnny Damon would be intriguing for LF and leadoff as well, but again, another Boras client who likely demend a lot if his season keeps going the way it has.

Is Josh Fields a bust? Outside of the early going, Josh Fields has been pitiful. His average is down, he's hitting for almost no power, not coming through in any situations, and is striking out at a record setting pace. Also, he is late on everything and struggles catching up to 90 mph fastballs. Also, it seems to me he has no clue what he's doing at the plate. Personally, I've seen enough of Fields and I am willing to put the bust label on him. Maybe with a better hitting coach he can become a decent hitter. If Fields and/or Walker would smart, Fields would take this approach at the plate: Back off the plate some and use a more straight away stance. Also, loosen up a bit, he seems very tense. His swing is slow, so he either needs to choke up an inch or use a lighter bat. At bat, he needs to step into the pitch and drive the ball to center field. If he does that, I think he could be much improved. However, it's easier said than done, and either Fields doesn't get it, Greg doesn't get it, or both. Thoughts?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 08:10 PM) That's sort of the point. It totally doesn't match with the article at all. BS, if you can actually justify why that picture fits with that article, I'd love to hear it. The "They went to school in Chicago" that the Times uses just seems bizarre. There was probably a deeper meaning to it, but I doubt it was meant in a sinister way.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 13, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Eh, I really wasn't with the premise the blogger was going for but I found it kind of random and creepy myself. Why use their picture, of all pictures? Was pretty stupid to use their picture, but really isn't a big deal or a deal at all. However, it is a picture of students in the chicago area going to school. I doubt AP has a bunch of images of students in chicago going to school, and with how popular Obama was, there was probably a ton of pictures of Sasha and Malia (I think I got it right this time) going to school and stuff like that.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) Seems like both those runs came in the 5th? Yep. A walk, a single, and a double, with a couple K's mixed in.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:53 PM) Total strawman, find me one person on this board that condoned the unfair treatment of Palin's family. Probably the worst thing I saw anybody say here was the fact that she used her family as a prop, or that it was ironic that Palin is a hardcore abstinence-only education type, and her daughter ends up pregnant. No not really, just pointing out how Balta was so moved by those evil people at the Washington Times that he had to post it on here to show how evil conservative newspapers are. However, I just doubt Balta was posting the articles of those people called journalists and how they viciously attacked a 15-16 year old girl. And Balta, if you did, I'm sorry.

I really don't care anymore. I used to be strongly against the legalization of any drugs, but what's the use? Just legalize everything and let the idiots put whatever they want into their bodies. Users are still gonna use, but if it's gonna be like that, why not ruin all the drug dealers and the drug trade with mexico and make money off of it. It's a free country, and if someone wants to blow snow or take some acid, let the idiot do it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) So the big story of the day is that Obama completely did a 180 and is now NOT going to release all of the torture pics to the public. Interesting. The dude has been flip-flopping a ton in his short time as president.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) Ok, I've got to admit, the Washington Times actually impressed me on this one. I don't get the big deal, who cares. I doubt they are secretly saying they want Obama's daughters killed. It's a picture of two girls who, guess what, were Chicago area students for a while! It really is a non-issue. However, I'm sure you were quick to post articles out of disgust when newspapers, blogs, and news stations unfairly and maliciously attacked Bristol Palin.

GOP, RNC to rebrand Democrats as 'Socialists'
BearSox replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in The Filibuster
Well, most of them are socialists, but the problem is, look what Bush did in his final year. Both isles have them, IMO, but one side more than the other. -
Hudson with a decent outing. 5 innings, 2 runs (both earned, 3 BB's, 6 K's. Either the hitters in advanced A are a lot more patient or Hudson didn't have his usual great control today (I'm saying it's the later). Struck out Pedro Alvarez in the first. His 3rd walk of the game in the 5th came around to score.

Lillibridge the leader to go back to Charlotte
BearSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Getz has been getting away with his homerun swing because he's just an all around better ball player than Lillibridge. But we need a hitting coach that can actually fix them. Cause Walker ain't getting the job done, and it's gone on for far too long. They need a knew approach and either they're stubborn as muals, or Walker isn't getting through the them. I tend to think it's the later. -
Right now, which is the more appealing option... Ramirez at SS and Nix/Betemit at 3B, or Nix at SS with Fields at 3B? I gotta go with Ramirez at SS with Nix/Betemit at 3B. At least Ramirez can hit a fastball and won't K a ton, and adds more speed, and you don't really lose anything on D.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) Guys, Danks is not a leadoff hitter. Get that idea out of your heads. He strikes out far more than a leadoff hitter should. He's a much better fit to be an ideal #3 hitter. Ie, good speed, average, hopefully a good OBP, solid power (not amazing, but 20HR power). Maybe a two hole hitter as well, but not a leadoff hitter. He'll always strike out a good amount, we just have to hope he learns to draw walks at a high rate I agree. If he were to be a leadoff hitter, he'd be in the mold of Grady Sizemore (one can only hope he becomes that good). However, I hate leadoff hitters like that and they should for sure be batting in the 3-6 spots.

Ely got rocked and rolled... However, Danks 2-3 with a double! Dude just can't stop hitting. Now, if he can start to turn some of those K's into balls put into play.
