I'll update mine by the weekend.
-
I hope Dan Hudson pitches tomorrow. Out of all the prospects we have, I am the most anxious about him. I really hope he does well. Man, it would be a huge blessing if Hudson pans out.
-
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 12, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) Man are the Barons freaking stacked. If Dan Hudson keeps dominating, we might see him up at Birmingham come the all-star break. However, there's a possibility Birmingham could lose some studs to Chicago (or Charlotte, but I'm not so sure if we are set at promoting some guys to Charlotte).

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 11, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) Where's Mays? I suppose you could take Henderson, put Mays in there, and throw in Honus Wagner at SS and leadoff hitter. Or, you could also take out Henderson and just replace him with Cobb.
-
I think you'll see us take a lot of pitching and OF's early on in the draft (and by early, I mean the first 15-20 rounds). You could throw in a catcher here or there as well as maybe corner infielders.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ May 11, 2009 -> 11:08 AM) Would Donovan Tate still be around when the Sox pick? I think he would be a great pick in the supplemental round as there is a lot of risk involved with him not signing. He supposedly has five legitimate tools, but I dont know much about him other than he is a two sport athlete committed to UNC for baseball and football. Nevermind, just read that he is a Boras client as well... Odds are he'll be gone in the top 5-10.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) I really hope Fields figures things out, but I have major doubts about him. I'm not only having major doubts about Fields, but Viciedo as well. Going into the season, I thought we had 3B for the future set in the hopes of one of Fields or Viciedo would pan out. Right now Fields has exceeded expectations with the glove (I'd rate him as slightly above average, which is solid), but his bat has truly been a disappointment. Hell, even that one young 3B we got from Atlanta isn't doing much in A ball.
-
Getz should eventually be able to fit in all of the 1, 2, and 9 spots down the line. He's a mediocre leadoff man, solid no. 2 guy, and like fathom said, a great fit for the 2nd leadoff spot, aka the 9 hole.
-
Carbondale as in where SIU is located? That's pretty messed up.
-
So is this Wednesday a 2 hour season finale?
-
How does this guy have his own tv show? He is by far one of the biggest pieces of s*** out there.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Why is Milwaukee keeping Brad Nelson on their 25 man roster? He's 0-20 this year. Also, Masset's pitching real well for the Reds. Because they like fat left handed hitters with long swings who can only play 1B?
-
Even pitchers are having better AB's than the whole white sox starting lineup...
-
We only have 38 players on the 40 man.

Dony Lucy was taken out in the middle of today's game. Either it's an injury, or KW got sick of watching Miller. -
Aaron Miller, OF/LHP, Baylor - 6'3" 220 lbs. (Bats L | Throws L) Scouting Report Strengths: Has a very smooth and natural swing. Has good pop (can hit the ball out to all fields) and plate discipline and uses the whole field when at bat. Has above average speed and excellent base running instincts. Very good arm and is a solid defender, profiles to a corner OF spot. Is considered to be a true baseball player, knows how to play the game. Negatives: Can be too passive at the plate, strikeouts too much. Player Comparison Andre Ethier My Take I'm a big fan of Miller and think he could be a great pickup with one of our 2nd round picks. He is about a 4-1/2 tool player where the only thing he is lacking is great speed, but even that is above average. His strikeout rate is alarming though, and seems to suffer a bit of Nick Swisher syndrome. However, that could be correctable once he finally focuses on just one aspect of the game. If he's there at 61, I'd be upset if we didn't take him. I have pictures of him and Quentin roaming the corners of our OF one day.

Kendal Volz, RHP, Baylor - 6'5" 225 lbs. (Throws R | Bats R) Scouting Report Strengths: Has a big frame and can pump his fastball up to 97 with good sinking action (usually sits around 92-95). Has a hard tight slider (could be considered a curve) and is used as an out pitch. Has a decent change as well. Usuaully has good command, and has very good poise on the mound (closers mentality?) Negatives: Is he a starter or reliever? Has some flaws in his mechanics and needs refinement. Has not had a good junior year. He dominated as team USA's closer over the summer, but has struggled somewhat as a starter this year. He has a lot of upside though and could be worth pick 23. If he's there at 38, I'd definitely take him. If he doesn't make it as a starter, he could be an impact player out of the pen.

Mike Leake, RHSP, Arizona St. - 6'0" 180 lbs. (Throws R | Bats R) Scouting Report Strengths: Is a leader and has great poise. Has great command of all his pitches - fastball, slider, curve, and change. Fastball sits around the low 90's with good movement, slider is hard with a downward tilt, and change is considered a plus pitch. Curve is average at best. Has been a work horse. Should progress through the system quickly. Negatives: Small frame and doesn't have great stuff. Not much upside. Now, I'm not so sure. Seems like a solid safe pick, but doesn't seem like the type of pitcher the new draft regime looks to take early on. He's somewhat similar to Broadway, but probably better. I would not mind him with pick no. 23, but looks like his value has been increasing a great amount. A lot of places now have him in the top 15.

Draft Profile - Tony Sanchez, C, Boston College

Here's a scouting report from soxprospects (although I'm not a big fan of their scouting reports, they give you a decent idea of what type of player he is) http://forum-soxprospects.com/sreply/17143...ng-Reports.html -
GM Ken Williams criticizes pitchers for not protecting hitters
BearSox replied to Wanne's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think umpires throw around warnings much too often and willingly. With warnings, you basically take away the whole inside corner. If it's getting out of hand where everyone is getting hit, fine throw out a warning. But otherwise, just let the players play the game. Don't warnings also carry over to the next game then to? Also, in all fairness, most of our players don't even make much of an effort to get out of the way. Quentin actually leans over the plate in his stride and doesn't move, Getz didn't move a lick yesterday. We should be retaliating from all those bean balls we got to the hands or when Perry was giving us nothing but chin music. Not when a slider hits Getz in the leg and Quentin gets hit in the chest (in which he actually leaned into) on a slow quick pitch. Those are just gifts, especially when Quentin got hit. -
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 8, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) Kate is hot but i wished she died in season 1 her character is a waste. I couldn't agree more. She is beyond annoying and provides nothing to the show.

^^^ Wait, so was it intentional or not?
