  1. A lot of times with these injuries, they are painful as hell when they first happen. If it turns out it is just a mild strain of the MCL, there is a good chance we could see PK back within a couple of weeks. If it turns out it is more severe then a strain or is an ACL injury, then PK's done for the season.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) It was in reference to Vince Young. PK reacted like he was done for the season. He should go the Roberto Garza route and just go without the ACL...
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) its a hell of a lot more telling than batting average.....and frankly this is fact, not even opinion batting average isn't a determining factor either... but I'd take a guy who hits around .300 with a .320 OBP over the guy batting .230 with an OBP around .340 any day of the year.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) Let's just hope he doesn't go crazy tonight and the Sox have to call the police on him. I wasn't able to watch it, but what was his reaction to going down?
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) this is all that i will say about this silly, silly arguement, but AJ, crede, Cabrera, Uribe have never had an obp of .343 in an entire season let alone had an obp of .343 while hitting 24 HRs, meanwhile swisher is having a down year and those are his #s.... in addition it doesnt appear as if ramirez will ever have an obp north of .330 either, but at least he hits extra base hits and appears as if he can hold a .330 obp (though im skeptical that he will continue to hit .300 in the future) When did OBP become the determining point of how good a hitter is?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) So it's the MCL? I'm sure they'll take him for an MRI, but even if it's torn, at least it's not the ACL. Lets hope it's an MCL injury. Worst case scenario with the MCL is surgery, and then 3-4 months recovery time, meaning he would at least be ready around ST.
  7. I love the Nick Swisher is good arguement... the guy is hitting .226 with 120 strikeouts, but is considered good because he is "patient" (which is BS anyway as he is much too patient at bat, letting good pitches go and K'ing way too many times looking) and walks a fair amount of times.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Oh geez... can anyone fill me in on the PK situation? How did he get hurt and any word on what type of injury it is? anyone?
  9. Oh geez... can anyone fill me in on the PK situation? How did he get hurt and any word on what type of injury it is?
  10. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) His brother Matt could be the Pats starter pending on Brady's injury. It's official...
  11. I like the idea of signing Baldelli, and having him platoon between CF and DH, kinda like Griff is now. However, if Griff accepts arb (which I wouldn't mind), signing Baldelli wouldn't work unless we traded Swish. But then we would have two glass-men platooning in CF, and that might not be the best idea. I'd also like to see us trade for Figgins (put him at 3B, even though he would be a bit of a defensive liability there), and bring in Hudson to play 2B (3 year deal with option for a 4th). 1. Figgins, 3B 2. Hudson, 2B 3. Quentin, LF 4. Dye, RF 5. Thome, DH 6. Konerko, 1B 7. Ramirez, SS 8. Pierzynski, C 9. Swisher/Baldelli, CF Damn, that'd be a sexy lineup. The 5th spot in the rotation could either be filled within the system or via trade. I don't see us signing any FA's though.
  12. I'd have Mark Grace at first and Thomas at DH, with Ernie at short and Big Ed Walsh as my starter.
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 03:40 PM) I'll gladly defend the guy. He has the best batter's eye on the team and those two called strikes were low and inside. What the f*** was he supposed to do with those pitches? Get a grip. You're freaking crazy. He looked at strike 3 for christ's sake and your defending him? Swisher does not have the best eye on the team. He might be the most patient, but he looks at WAY too many strikes.
  14. I remember I saw him in ST and I was impressed with him. He has a pretty decent fastball (low 90's) with some good movement. I don't think he will ever be a top of the rotation starter, but I think he could be a very solid no. 4 or 5 guy. He could very well be the best one out of his family. His one brother is a AAAA pitcher for the Astros, and his other is the backup for the Patriots.
  15. sounds like Carter threw across his body... hopefully he fixed that because anyone who throws across their body with a mid 90's fastball is bound for injury problems. Just look at Kerry Wood.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) I don't know if I'd go that far. I'd say that they are about even at this point. Well, maybe not leaps and bounds, but he is still better. Griffey gets much better reads then Swisher out there, and that makes him better then Swish in CF.
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Sep 7, 2008 -> 11:52 AM) Does that make Getz available then? Honestly I think he would be a better asset than Owens If I am correct, then yes. And you're right, Getz would be a much better asset then Owens...
  18. Griffey in center is still leaps and bounds better than Swisher in CF.
  19. I think the only way you are not eligible for the playoff roster is if you weren't on the 40 man roster before September, OR, if you were not called up by the team and on the 25 man roster before September. Either way, MacDougal should be eligible.
  20. I have one thing to say, if anyone tries to make a point against her using Bristol as their example, I'm going to punch my monitor. So what if her daughter is preganant, guess what, she's a teenager! It'd be one thing if her daughter was going to get an abortion, but she isn't. Teenagers do stupid things about 90% of the time. Hell, when I'm done with this post I'll probably do some dumbass thing.
  21. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:23 PM) So we disqualify anyone with a political opinion from being in the media? How does that work? No one cares if you have an opinion, the problem is turning that opinion into fact.
  22. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Come on now, does anyone really care what that dumb ass has to say? his fans?
  23. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) Another race card from the liberal side of things. Philly columnist promises full-fledged class and race war if McCain wins. If you aren't sure your guy is gonna win, threaten whitey. http://www.philly.com/dailynews/opinion/20...eorge_Bush.html I'd highly reccommend stocking up on ammunition now, because if for some reason Obama doesn't win, there is going to be hell in the streets.
  24. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 11:28 PM) What passes for bias, placement of a story, amount of coverage, local versus national coverage, is more business and ratings driven and not some media conspiracy to elect more Dems as some would claim. That doesn't replace the fact though that the msm is in the tank for Obama and the Dems.
  25. To anyone who claims there is no media bias, you are simply a homer.
