  1. I'm still trying to figure out how this magic number stuff works... all I know is lesser the value, the better.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) The main idea of the whole series is to win one game and be done with it. It'll be nice to take two, but you have to win at least one. Then you can take care of business back home and win 2/3 from the Indians and hope that the Twins lose one of their games to the Royals. that's not the main idea... however, that is the worst case scenario.
  3. The ACLU will probably defend the hackers saying it's part of their freedom to hack into a public figure's e-mail account if it helps them to know that person better.
  4. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Solid fundamentals (at that age) will land you a roster spot in High School. Depends on the talent level at his high school.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) 2005- 2006: 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 47/53(87%) on saves 2007-2008: 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 68/77(88%) on saves. Freaking crazy, I tell ya. stats are overrated. He's gotten guys out, but he has been extremely lucky this year. Eventually, those linedrives hit straight at defenders will start to fall.
  6. Just dreaming about my ideal scenario for next year... trade for Figgins, sign Hudson and Baldelli: 1. Figgins, 3B 2. Hudson, 2B 3. Quentin, LF 4. Dye, RF 5. Thome, DH 6. Konerko, 1B 7. Ramirez, SS 8. Pierzynski, C 9. Swisher/Baldelli, CF
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) Correct. He is much, much better now. It's almost to the point of concern that some people cannot(or refuse to?) grasp that Jenks is a top of the line talent. Apparently it'll even take more than 1.5 perfect games worth of outs to prove that he is. Seriously, what does he have to do at this point? No, he's not better now. That is freaking crazy to say. The guy can't strike anyone out anymore, and I would love to see a stat for this year showing how many times he allowed the tying run to come up to the plate in a save situation, compared to other closers around the league. I don't know if they have a stat like that, but I would love to see it.
  8. I'd be shocked if we even offered him arb.
  9. QUOTE (TCQ @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) HAHA this is awesome, but it would have happened about 5 years ago if he wasnt the son of a major league coach More like 9. I would put money on it that he made his high school team based solely on reputation.
  10. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:50 PM) Wasserman and Ramirez...yes. But Boone is an enigma. He's had some great outings early in the year...and people were singin' his praise. I think it's just between his ears for him. The other two just have no business up here IMO. The only way I'd not be oppossed to keeping Boone Logan is if he gets his head on straight and Ozzie finally only uses him vs. lefties. However, even if he does get his head on straight, we all know Ozzie will still put him in situations where he will have to get tough outs vs. righties.
  11. I'd be all for trading Jenks, especially if we can get the type of package the Rangers got for Urbina a couple years ago. I know Jenks is a fan favorite around here, but face the facts people, Jenks is not the same pitcher he was in 05 and 06. Unless you have some of the nastiest breaking stuff in the league (which he doesn't), a straight as an arrow low-mid 90's fastball will not get the job done. I'm still wondering how he has an ERA under 4 this year. Plus, there's those health concerns with him and the fact he has a screw in his elbow. I wouldn't invest any type of big money on him.
  12. I'll be glad to see the day when none of Ehren Wasserman, Boone Logan, and Horacio Ramirez never pitch for the White Sox again.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Oh yeah, just forget his career up to these last few games. Last time I checked, we're in a pretty heated race for the central. At this point, all games have an impact, and to say these aren't "pressure" games is just ridiculous.
  14. Shot at 3,000? He's only 32, and he's one of the most durable pitchers in baseball. If he averages around 150 K's (that's being very conservative) a year and stays healthy, he should get 3,000 before he's 40.
  15. we should go with a 3-man booth... I think a booth of Hawk, D.J., and Stone would be epic. Then, get a real pbp guy for the radio, and we are set.
  16. hopefully we get a real PBP guy for the radio now... I like Stone a lot as an announcer, but as a radio guy, he was terrible, IMO. I remember coming home several times, turning on the sox game, and not finding out what the score was until I got home 20 minutes later. I hope we can get someone like Pat Hughes to be our PBP guy.
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Alot of those early problems came from his high school coach. The guy pitched him in both games of a double header. Not at all, Kerry Wood's problem is that he threw way across his body, and whenever a pitcher throws across his body with any kind of velocity, injuries are bound to happen. Wood's injury wasn't from getting "overworked" when he was younger, but rather it's all mechanical with him. Wood will develop injuries once again.
  18. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Sep 10, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) ESPN 1000 said the MRI confirmed its strained ligament....that is surprising as hell. With how that looked last night I though PK was finished for the season. Good thing for him. Like I said earlier, a lot of these injuries are painful as hell when they first happen.
  19. Neither are all that great of options, but Broadway is a lot better than Richard, IMO. Besides, who else you want starting? Carrasco, maybe, but he has probably been our best reliever for the past couple of months.
  20. I'll take Griffey over Swisher anyday of the week as Griffey actually has a good approach to when he comes up to bat. Swisher just stands there letting good pitches go, hoping to draw the walk. Griffey actually wants to hit the ball.
  21. QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 10:01 PM) If Griffey continues to play center field, something is seriously wrong with this team. With Konerko down now, there is absolutely no excuse for not putting Anderson in CF. Hell, there was no excuse to be starting Griffey over him in the first place, but this just emphasizes this. That's all I'm going to say. I'd say there is no excuse for starting Swisher over Anderson right now. Griffey's bat is better then Swisher, and Griffey provides as good, if not better D in the OF (I'd say better). 1. Cabrera, SS 2. Griffey, LF 3. Dye, RF 4. Thome, DH 5. Swisher, 1B (until if PK returns) 6. Ramirez, 2B 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Anderson, CF 9. Uribe, 3B
  22. I'm not a fan of either Wise or Anderson, but they are both much better than Owens.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Here's the problem. A mild sprain could easily take 3 weeks to heal, especially on a body that's 30+ years old and has a decent amount of mass on it. Even a mild sprain and that's probably the season for him. If it's a mild strain though, he has a shot at returning for at least the final push or maybe even the playoffs. Anything else though, and his season is done. Right now though, I just hope he is back for ST next year.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 9, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Agreed, and when we make trades to try and add speed, we end up lowering the talent level of the squad (Lee for Pods) Yeah, but Lee was a POS and quite frankly, is a loser. Guys like him are great hitters and all, but the teams they are on never amount to anything.
