QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 10:41 AM) Thanks for showing us a piece of your intolerant soul. No problem.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 10:32 AM) Dont guarantee anything. Richard outperformed Javy heads and tails down the stretch. Especially when he relieved him in game 1 Oh please. When will people like you realize Richard is a pretty terrible starter? He might make it as a reliever because he won't have to face the lineup more than once, but quite simply, he doesn't have the stuff to make it as a starter. Also, it isn't that tough for anyone to out preform Vazquez with the way Vazquez pitched down the stretch.

If a gay is ever elected as president of the united states, I'm moving.

Javy might not do much in pressure games, but at least he helps us get to the point where we can actually be in the playoffs. Could imagine where we would have been this past season with Javy and either Broadway or Richard in his place? I guarantee we would not have made the playoffs if that was the case.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 08:02 AM) I still don't think that a Guillen-managed Sox team will have a lefty hitter backup catcher behind AJ. Maybe, but, I doubt it. If not, at least Armstrong is upping his stcok. He could probably fetch a little something in trade (maybe to help a larger deal over the top), and if not, he'd be good insurance at AAA next year (especially with Lucy such a huge question mark). I hope he isn't the backup next year. While Cole has been playing good lately, he still needs more time. He should be the starting catcher for Charlotte. Also, the only way I ever see Armstrong becoming a starter in the league is if he gets some plate discipline. Right now, he rarely walks. Until he does that, he isn't going to be much more than a backup. It sucks that Lucy got injured last year, he seemed to be finally finding his swing, and he could have easily been our backup for 09. Oh well, lets just hope he recovers fully.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Yes he can. Watching his swing did you notice his top hand?...I'd never really seen that before on a hitter...he kind of exaggerated turning it over in his stance. But he really does get the bat through the zone pretty quick. That's a good thing that he exaggerates turning his top hand over. My guess is that he felt like he needed to work on getting his bat through the zone quicker and really wanted to get his top hand turned over quicker. A lot of people don't realize that swinging a baseball bat, or rather having good bat speed, is all in the wrist and forearms. Also, having an uppercut swing is a good thing. As Ted Williams explained, the ball isn't coming in flat, it is coming in at a downward angle. So swinging with an uppercut would actually put your bat and the ball at the same level.

I remember during ST last year, Hawk was raving about Armstrong's D.

I'd pass.

would a trade of Dye to Tampa Bay for Edwin Jackson and Willy Aybar make sense for both teams?
-
The only way I see the Yankees moving Cano is if they get some team to overpay for him, but I just don't see that happening.
-
Yankees aren't trading Cano, end of story.
-
yeah, that'd be pretty stupid considering he's a GG caliber 2B.

I'm surprised by the lack of talk about the Braves
BearSox replied to Fantl916's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kelly Johnson is a solid player, but I don't think he's someone we need to really try hard to get. He's a guy who will get on at about a .350 clip, but he also strikes out too much for my liking. I'd rather stick with Getz then go with Johnson to be honest. -
I would rather take the risk that Konerko has come back to his old self and trade Dye for a lot more. Also, I wouldn't be oppossed to trading one of Konerko/Dye and Swisher as well.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) One of the great myths on this site is that Q is a good defender and capable of playing right field. I agree with this. While there is some adjustment from RF to LF, I wasn't impressed with Quentin's D at all.

Man, I was expecting Obama to win fairly easily... but I was expecting at least some battle from McCain. Oh well.
-
didn't he also play football, or am I mistaken?
-
While I agree Richard is better off in the pen as a second lefty and long man, I disagree about the fact he'd be a dominant reliever.
-
I was a fan of Josh Fields, but after seeing him last year, I want him traded ASAP while he still has some value. Watching him at plate, he has about 0% confidence and his approach is beyond awful. He and Brandon Wood are very similar, IMO. Both are big pussies when they are at bat.
-
I've said it many times before, but if we trade one of Dye or Konerko, we should bring back Griffey at a reduced salary.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) How do we know this? He seemed like he had potential to me. From what I have seen from Richard is that he doesn't have the stuff to be much better than a AAAA player.
-
I normally don't do this, but I was wondering if anyone had an edgytim/rivals membership. I ask this because my highschool football team is featured on the front page of edgytim and I want to check out the article and highlights from the game last night.

Trading Vazquez might fill one of the holes at 2B, 3B, or CF, but trading him would also leave us with two big vacancies in the rotation. Also, I'm gonna let everyone know now, Clayton Richard is going to be a disaster of a MLB starter. His best shot is somewhere in the NL as a 5th or long man.
-
If we trade one of Dye/Konerko, expect Griffey back, IMO.
-
If we dealt with the Rays, one guy I would love to get is Willy Aybar. I was very impressed with his approach and swing this postseason. He went up there ready to hit. Plus, he's a switch hitter who can play all the infield spots decently and could probably learn the corner OF spots as well.
