KW to make a strong push for Crisp?
BearSox replied to GreatScott82's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
He's a name... Delwyn Young. There is no room for him on the Dodgers, and I have been interested in him since he tore up the PCL. He is now tearing up the Arizona Fall League for Team USA having 9 hits in 17 AB's. -

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 09:23 PM) I'd rather they sign Rowand and Hunter. They could use that $30M per year they're saving by not pursuing A-Rod. An outfield of Dye, Hunter and Rowand ain't too shabby and it would allow the Sox to carry a legit pinch hitter on the bench because Rowand and Hunter could play all three outfield positions and Dye can play the corners. that would be ridiculously stupid. We would ridiculously overpay two players over 30 years old who will not preform to the numbers they did last year, and instead of getting younger, we'd just get older. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) Why in the s*** would the Sox get Furcal, Crisp, AND DeJesus? Why not? We have enough pop in the middle of the order, and we add defense and speed, and 3 players who could hopefully all have OBP over .350. -

well, superwishful thinking would be that we could get Furcal, DeJesus, and Crisp all without giving up DLS, Eggy, Gio, Carter, Sweeney (which seems to have little trade value right now anyway), and one of Contreras/Garland (preferably Contreras gets traded). I have revised my wishful thinking once again and wouldn't mind a highly un-likely lineup of... 1. Furcal, SS 2. DeJesus, LF 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF 6. Pierzynski, C 7. Fields, 3B 8. Richar, 2B 9. Crisp, CF We make up for Fields D at 3B (which I think he is already average and will only get better) with a superb defensive outfield, and we don't lose much, if any D at SS. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 31, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) Him or Crisp would both be the exact pickups I'd be a fan of. I also realize Crisp had a down year, but in 2006 he was banged up and those injuries really effected his production. I don't have an explanation for 06 but I think he's talented and he has had more than just one good year (05 was rock solid, but 04 was good and the early part of 06 was darn good as well IIRC). Plus he has above average range out there. I think it is possible to acquire both... but that is proably wishful thinking. -
I would love to see a Thomas, Noah, Gordon, and Duhon/Khryapa deal, but we would need to get another cheap big for the bench.

I just remembered someone who we talked about before... David DeJesus. -

He's a little fantasy lineup I dreamed up of... 1. Chone Figgins, LF 2. Rafael Furcal, SS 3. Jim Thome, DH 4. Paul Konerko, 1B 5. Jermaine Dye, RF 6. A.J. Pierzynski, C 7. Josh Fields, 3B 8. Danny Richar, 2B 9. Coco Crisp, CF Never gonna happen, but I can hope. -

I like Crisp and would be in favor of getting him and all, but with his contract and the way he has played over the past two years, he ain't worth Carter, unless the Red Sox will pay most of his salary, which I doubt. I have no problem trading McCulloch, he was a horrible pick to being with. Perhaps the Red Sox would be interested in Haeger as possible knuckleballer to replace Wakefield (I know they have Zink, or whatever his name is, but IIRC he is already in his 30's). Also, instead of Carter, how about Micah Schnurstein or Thomas Callaro? -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) That leaves Gavin Floyd, John Danks, and Gio Gonzalez battling for 40% of the starting rotation. That isn't going to win. Like Jose Contreras is so much better then what John Danks, Gavin Floyd, Lance Broadway, Gio Gonzalez, and Jack Egbert? PUH-LEASE!

Brian Anderson's strong words about Winter Ball...

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 30, 2007 -> 05:41 PM) Changing the title. Very misleading. I don't think so, this all but says that he wants out of Chicago. -
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Looks like the Sox and Brian Anderson have both given up on each other. This makes it more then likely that Anderson will traded away in the offseason, like many expected.

Talking to my dad, he brought up a very good point, Johnny Damon's bat speed reduced greatly this past season.
-
anything to get him out of the white sox organization...
-
The reason why I did not bring up Hu was because I think Furcal would be more easily acquired since the Dodgers would be looking to unload his salary to pay for ARod.

http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article...RTS01/710290436 This comes as no surprise to anyone here. But my question is, do the Dodgers now enter the ARod race? Is Ned Colletti gonna give out an 8 year 30 million dollar per year contract to ARod. I kinda hope so, because that make Furcal a whole lot more available and probably easier to get as long as we take on the whole contract, and I think ARod would be a very good fit in LAD (however, he'd be a good fit for most teams). Thoughts?

Never will happen, but I wouldn't mind a lineup of... 1. Damon, LF 2. Crisp, CF 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF 6. Pierzynski, C 7. Fields, 3B 8. Richar, 2B 9. Short Stop, preferably one with speed Now, we still have the big 4 base cloggers, but we gain speed at the top and bottom of the order.

QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) I saw somewhere also that Crisp and/or Lugo could be headed to the Sox if the Red SOx sign ARod Crisp is on his way out almost no matter what if you ask me. Ellsbury has played like a stud. Lugo, overpriced and overrated.

I would get so hard if we got Kemp...
-
I wouldn't mind it. However, like previously stated, the yanks would have to pick up some of the contract.

If Pablo comes back next season and he is slower, we might as well DFA him (sadly, we all love Pablo), and that opens up a spot for Bourgeois.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 04:03 AM) I wouldnt do that, first it costs more because its a labtop... 2nd they get to be big that they might as well be desktops lol.. 3rd ofcourse everything breaks down once the warranty runs out and they arent easily upgraded. You can build a PC with same or more power and buy the 360 with your total cost being smaller than the labtop. Yeah, I already changed my mind about that. I'll probably just buy a nice little laptop that has good reviews. And from doing more research, with my current computer, as long as I upgrade the graphics card and 1 GB of RAM, the games should fine.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) You DON'T judge a player's postseason performance. I don't think any less of Todd Helton or Troy Tulowitski or Brad Hawpe then I did before, nor do I think any more of Dustin Pedroia, JD Drew, or David Ortiz. And apparently someone missed ARod's .941 OPS in his first 56 PA's. But he's a choker...GTFO. I am so sick of OPS. OPS doesn't mean s*** to me when looking at how a player played. ARod has played like s*** in the postseason as a Yankee. It has nothing to do with stats. He has looked like complete garbage at the plate. It's not like he was hitting liners all over the place, because he wasn't and hasn't.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Oct 28, 2007 -> 11:42 PM) You realize that guys who put up MVP numbers during the regular season usually help their teams get to the playoffs. Thank god we have some clutch guys on our team that were setting up their golf games as of early September. I realize that, but whats the point if he is pretty your whole heart of the order because you are spending so much on him, and he doesn't do s*** in the postseason so that means you have pretty much no offense then.
