  1. good stuff... I'm expecting a big spring training and year at Charlotte from him...
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) If all you want is defense, just call up Lucy and save a few mill. But I'd prefer the team has someone who can hit a bit too. Also, Hall is still under contract, so its unlikely they'll release him. Possible, but unlikely. Also also, Hall's career line indicates that 2007 was not normal. I don't know if he changed something or what, but his approach to the plate last year was pitiful... If he has the same approach next year, he ain't gonna out-produce anyone.
  3. QUOTE(bigruss22 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) Loretta? I know he doesnt have a lot of power, and im not sure about his defense anymore, but man he just seems to rack up the batting average every year, I wouldnt mind seeing him in a platoon role. Likely gonna be Pablo, if he can return healthy.
  4. Eggy's been added to the 40 man I see... not a real shocker.
  5. QUOTE(StatManDu @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 12:19 PM) I like Owens' speed but I wish he got on base more and had a better arm. don't we all... Jerry Owens should only be a 4th OF, and pinch runner late in games.
  6. my ideal situation with JD would have him have a good 1st half of the season and provide good value in a trade, with Sweeney just tearing up Charlotte. Hopefully Fields steps up to replace Dye and we trade Dye for something we need to help a hopeful playoff push.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 09:53 AM) I'm hoping he does well, boosts his trade value, and then is used in a package to get someone that can help the team next year. how dare you... on the other hand, anyone have a link to the white sox AFL team?
  8. I wouldn't mind seeing a signing of Jose Molina...
  9. my dream but highly unlikely lineup for next season: 1. Figgins, CF 2. Renteria, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Jermaine Dye, RF 6. Pat Burrell, LF 7. A.J. Pierzynski, C 8. Josh Fields, 3B 9. Danny Richar, 2B
  10. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Oct 13, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Sorry but I strongly disagree. You and others that seemed so concerned about Crede and his ability must have missed the 2005 season and World Series puh-lease... give me a break.
  11. oh yeah, if you ask me, it's a whole lot smarter and safer to spend 6-7 on Burrell then it is 4-5 on Crede.
  12. QUOTE(rockren @ Oct 12, 2007 -> 11:44 PM) I agree that Crede couldn't put up the numbers that Burrell would offensively, but so what? Burrell is overhyped and overpaid. Since his coming out season in '02, he's only hit .250. He strikes out once every 3.5 ABs. That ballpark he plays in is a joke and it has impacted his numbers. The past three years since that park opened- Burrell as hit .284 at home and a woeful .248 on the road. I'd rather roll the dice with Crede at 3rd next year with Fields in Left. Don't waste 6-7 million and stay the hell away from Burrell. It's funny that you say Burrell's numbers are inflated because he plays in a small ballpark... are you forgetting that we play in U.S. Cellular Field? Also, I'd much rather have Burrell then Crede. Crede only does 2 things better then Burrell, and one is field 3B, and the other is strike out less.
  13. if Rowand is type A free agent, I want no part of him...
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 9, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Derek Lowe never made it into Baseball America's Top 50. Fausto Carmona never cracked BA's Top 75. And Brandon Webb and Chien-Ming Wang were never rated as Top 100 prospects by Baseball America. But I will remember whenever someone asks me about a prospect, i will always say they wont make it, because the ODDS are with me. I guess BA doesn't like sinker ballers.
  15. I despise the idea of trading Konerko... However, if a top prospect was thrown into that deal as well, then I think you have to take it. But, I highly doubt Konerko is gonna get traded.
  16. I think for Crisp, we can trade Crede and perhaps a mid level prospect to get Crisp if we take on his whole salary. I think we should release Hall and go for Jose Molina to be out backup.
  17. Anyone know if the Rangers would be willing to trade Taylor Teagarden? I'd love to get him here and be our future catcher.
  18. IIRC, he is a very good defensive catcher. Probably won't ever do much, but he could work his way up to the majors as a backup catcher.
  19. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Oct 8, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) I was actually thinking the same thing. A minor cheap risk, that may or may not pay off. Kind of like the Erstad experiment of 2007. It that's all it would cost, I'd sure as hell bring in Prior. If it 3-4 million like Wite thinks so... I'd pass.
