  1. the 8 hours part scares me though... still worth 60 bucks + tax though
  2. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 12:05 PM) Uncharted, which comes out next week, just got a 9.1 from IGN which is telling since IGN is typically harsh (aka biased) against the PS3. Uncharted is getting reviews basically saying it is one of, if not the best PS3 game yet. Also, for those who care, the original PS3 review of AC which criticized the FPS and screen tearing has been edited with that section removed. Bascially the reviewer lied to justify giving the 360 version a higher score and someone called them on it. Nice... I know I will love this game. I have already played the demo about 10 times. And, Hard mode is actually hard.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) Hill's value >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Marshall's value I can't argue that...
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) WTF? How is Marshall the guy to go after? The same Sean Marshall who barely holds 1.5-to-1 K/BB ratio? No -- the starter who averages about one K/IP is the guy who's overrated. Riiiight... Please send me some of that ganja you appear to be smoking. I'm just playing scout, and from the small samples I have seen of Hill and Marshall, I would prefer Marshall.
  5. lesser, poor man's, whatever. Of course he isn't on the same level as Pedroia. I just thought they were similar as neither has a ton of power, but Pedroia has more. Also, they both have very good eyes and have good bat control as they both walk more as they strikeout. My comparison, not a projection, is that Chris Getz is a lesser/poor man's version of Dustin Pedroia. They are similar players, but obviously Pedroia is better, as I highly doubt Getz ever wins ROY.
  6. dude, you gotta do some more of your own research before you walk into a gamestop (which by the way only care about money) and pretty much buy whatever the clerk recommends. The two best game websites are probably www.gamestop.com and ww.ign.com. Go to those websites and look at their reviews, and go to their forums and read people who have played the game's thoughts, and even ask any questions of your own. Hell, subscribe to a magazine. I get Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM). That is probably the best gaming mag. out there. PSM (playstation mag.) wasn't that bad when I subscribed to it, but try and stay away from magazines that focus on one system as there is likely at least some bias. Ironically, EGM seems a bit biased against the PS3, but I don't think they are that bad at all. Plus, most games now are multi-platform and any game that is on xbox360 or PS3 is pretty much the same game.
  7. QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) It's not so much a case of Javy that I thought he was getting at...Moreso the fact that we could've dealt Brian Anderson. In that scenario then yes the CY did hurt us. Would it have been nice to have kept Young and trade Anderson instead? Yeah. But then again for all we know Anderson would have blossomed as an everyday player in Arizona not getting benched every other day, and Young would have struggled mightly for us (and I think Young is overrated as well). Too many "ifs".
  8. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) With what they have to pay Vazquez, that trade is going to wind up costing them over $25 million next year alone. Vazquez had a nice season, but on a team that lost 90 games so it was a waste. If he returns to his previous form, the Sox will have a guy with good "stuff" whose performance is league average or below and a CF that may or may not be as good as Young, and they will make a combined $25 million +. That kind of money saved makes you a player for Johan Santana. Or, he finally settled in and has found "it" again. I am so freaking sick of the no pressure excuse for why Vazquez did good last season. Vazquez has been the Sox best pitcher since the final 2 months+ of 06 till now. And last time I checked, the White Sox were still in contention in the final two months of 06. Hell, he pitched one hell of a game @ Boston and owned them (but to bad the offense was pitiful and he got the L). Now, are you telling me there is no pressure at Fenway, let alone when the team is trying to make a push for the playoffs?
  9. Two words, and you know what they are coming from me... Javy Vazquez. -------- Our rotation would be an absolute mess without him, and I'd rather have a mess in CF then at SP.
  10. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 09:44 PM) I really don't care what level it was. yeah, so I assume every 25 year old in low A who is dominating is a top prospect as well?
  11. I wouldn't mind Dotel at all. But, it'd have to be on an incentive laden deal, as his shoulder is a HUGE question mark. If we can sign him to an incentive laden deal, it would low risk but possibly a high reward. Also, I'd much rather sign him over Scott "overacted" Linebrink who would cost us our 2nd round pick.
  12. Just curious, but if the Sox get Hunter and have a LF of one (or two) of Owens/Stewart/Crisp, that would be an all black OF. Now, when was the last time Chicago had an all black OF?
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) What makes you think Aaron Rowand would sign a 3 year $28.5M deal, when Eric Byrnes got a 3/33 deal (and probably took a hometown discount in the process?) Rowand should get 4 to 5 years easy. And he'll get around 12M a season I'm thinking. More than what Gary Matthews Jr. got last off-season as well. As for Hunter, well that's obviously going to be the starting point in negotiations for the Sox I'm thinking. He will probably get a better offer from a team such as Texas or even the Dodgers (2nd worst CF production in the MLB last season, Sox were last). It's probably just me, but I'd prefer Rowand at 4 years at 48 million over Hunter at 5 years at 75 million.
  14. A good comparison for Getz is a lesser, but lefty version of Dustin Pedroia.
  15. QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) The Rays (god it's a bad name) aren't making this selection yet...Levine reported it as if the Cubs asked if he was available and got the nod. This deal is what their "Package" is going to be from an offer standpoint. Hopefully the Rays laugh and go...we got Kazmir for Victor Zambrano. I thought their GM/Owner were supposed to be tough to deal with ever since that deal. Accepting an overrated Hill, Cedeno and Marmol wouldn't fit that profile. If I were them I'd get Marmol, Soto or Colvin, Hill or Marshall, and even push for a guy like Gallager/Veal. If they truly have let that Kazmir deal go to their head, how can you not demand a package that is massive. I don't think that one I suggested is realistic but it should be the counter-offer and work from there. You never know, they are so desperate that maybe the Cubs give in. If I'm the "Rays", I don't trade Crawford to the Cubs for anything less then Marmol, Soto/Pie, and Hill/Marshall, and probably another minor player.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) For Prior to be involved in this deal, the Cubs would have to actually offer him arb, which would guarantee him several million dollars next year. He could well be signed for less than that on the open market. still, I'd take a chance on him and get him for nothing via free agency. I would not mind it at all if the White Sox sign him in the offseason.
  17. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Platoon him with Richar. you can't really platoon him with Richar cause both are lefties... unless one of them kills lefties but can't righties, and that just wouldn't make any sense. I like Getz and can see him as early as sometime in 08 due to injury or lack of preformance by Richar.
  18. Also, I wonder... do the cubs finally plan on using Murton or finally trade him?
  19. If they want a lefty curveballer on the Cubs, you go after Marshall. Hill is vastly overrated and I would put money on it that he will have an ERA above 4.5. Also, if I'm the "Rays", I'd take a flier on Prior...
  20. I could live with... sign Hunter (13-15 mil), sign Loretta to a part time roll (couple mil with incentives), and sign Stewart (4-5 mil) and have a lineup of... 1. Stewart/Owens, LF 2. Loretta/Richar, 2B 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Hunter, CF 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Fields, 3B 9. Uribe (ugh), SS
  21. After Posada get 13 million per year, 13-14 for Hunter ain't sounding all that bad, and I am one of the bigger anti-Hunter guys around here. I'd still rather get Fukodome.
  22. from what I have read Crysis is sick as hell, but it'd take quite the PC just to be able to run this game on med. settings.
  23. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) I still want it though. Don't know what they could possibly be complaining about, it looks excellent. GameSpot is usually the harshest reviewer, and they gave it a 9, so. from what I have read, the controls are impossible and will take a long time to get used to, and there is a bunch of other small stuff that is annoying. It looks awesome visually and it looks good in the video's, but then again you have a producer playing it ho has spent countless hours working on the game.
  24. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) No way Poreda is that low, I would have him 4th at worst. what exactly has he proven? That he can get guys out in rookie ball and that he has some pretty big concerns with his arm probably not being able to hold up?
