  1. I think this a stupid move by the Twins, IMO. Well, not stupid, but not a good move either. But it benefits us because we won't have to deal with getting shut out by him 4-5 times a year...
  2. I say sign Jones and Shannon Stewart. I could live with a lineup of: 1. Stewart/Owens, LF 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Jones, CF 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Fields, 3B 9. Richar, 2B then trade for Haren
  3. I forgot about Fukodome... He'd probably be my no. 1 choice as well.
  4. screw Rowand, I want Andruw Jones.
  5. I really hope we take the Gio route with Cunningham and trade for him back.
  6. The A's could ask for Fields and then make Chavez also expandable...
  7. I'd gladly take Haren... a 1-2-3 of Buehrle, Vazquez, and Haren would be sweet... And I am still a firm believer in Pitching over Hitting...
  8. I would gladly take a flier on him if it doesn't cost a ton. One of those low risk but high reward things.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) For God's sake, no one who's going to wind up in the Mitchell report please. sorry, sorry... bad idea
  10. If Kenny wants to deal with the Angels again, I wouldn't mind Gary Matthews Jr. if the Angels once again, threw in some cash. Something with Crede and prospect(s)?... But then again that is dependent on if Matthews Jr. would waive his no trade clause to Chicago.
  11. there have been rumors flying around of a Garza for Delmon Young trade...
  12. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 26, 2007 -> 02:36 AM) who are they fighting? they are all in a cage deathmatch...
  13. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) They need a backup RFer. Someone with a good arm. that's where Mack comes in...
  14. even if he throw in 5 million, we would still have an extra 5 million this year and an extra 10 next (or perhaps only 2.5 both years). Get rid of Contreras, and then bring in someone like Clement on a flier, and sign perhaps that Japanese starting pitcher.
  15. If we could somehow get Betemit, he'd look sexy on our bench and getting playing time all around the INF.
  16. do people here actually think Jose Contreras is good? Getting rid of Contreras and his contract would be a godsend.
  17. Contreras is like 48 years old. He is having tons of physical problems.
  18. I just realized that Muniz is 26 and going to be 27 by next season... they'd have to throw in a better prospect then a lower-level prospect if they want 5 million in the trade.
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 24, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Owens isn't very useful as a fourth outfielder because he would not be able to throw anyone out from right field (though we play him in center, despite the fact he cannot throw out anyone there). Ideally, Owens would be used in the Dave Roberts role of the 04 Red Sox. The 4th Bench Player would hopefully be someone who could play all three OF position and hit for a little pop. Perhaps Spilborghs from Colorado if we could get him?
  20. The Rays would have no use for Fields, unless they plan on sticking him at DH or LF. In all likely hood, the Rays want young quality pitching, and perhaps a SS. How about we trade Crede to the Phils or Dodgers for a decent spect, and then include the prospect in a deal for Crawford... Danks/Gio, Massett, Prospect f/Crede trade, and Uribe for Crawford? I think this works, depending on what type of prospect we get for Crede (especially if it is a relief pitching prospect). The Rays need some defense at SS and Uribe would provide them that, and Harris could move to 2B. Since they have Brignac waiting in the wings, they won't want to be locked into having a SS for longterm, and Uribe is only signed for one year. Perfect fit, IMO. But, their biggest need is pitching, starting and relief. Kazmir might eventually move to the pen, but for now he'll stay in the rotation. They got Shields, and I am a fan of Edwin Jackson, but they still have some holes. I think they would prefer Danks over Gio due to Danks is still young and a good prospect, and can start right away. Massett could also possibly fit into the back end of their rotation or pen. (it would be kind of ironic to see Danks and Massett traded together just a year after we acquired them for McCarthy.) Thoughts?
  21. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) As Broadway was working on his new pitch [4 seamer?], his walks were bound to be up. If he makes the bullpen, he will likely only use 2 or at most different 3 pitches. Whereas Lance needed to throw 3 or more pitches as a SP. The ones he can't throw strikes on or get batters out will be scrapped. I'm sure Broadway will be given a shot to be the 5th starter. Yet it's likely he's headed to the pen or the AAA rotation. I see Broadway making the team as the long man out of the pen (and spot starter) if he doesn't win the 5th spot in the rotation. I think Floyd will get a spot in the rotation no matter what unless he totally bombs in spring training, and Danks and Egbert will be the top two for the final spot in the rotation. However, I'd rather see Egbert stay at starter and go down to Charlotte if he doesn't win the job as opposed to Broadway. It's just a shame Massett is out of options. I really like him, but he needs more time as a starter down at AAA, and we all saw he isn't a good relief pitcher. He will likely be traded as it would be stupid to let him go for nothing.
  22. Having all three of Contreras, Danks, and Floyd most likely in the rotation, we need to have 7 relief pitchers, which means only 4 bench guys. Hopefully our Bench will look something like: Ozuna/Bourgeois, Owens, Catcher (looks like Hall is almost done as a White Sox, IMO-Wouldn't mind Lo Duca if he'd except a backup/platoon role, or Miguel Olivo), and like you said a power hitter. I have a feeling that last spot would go to someone like Cintron however...
  23. I'd rather bring in Corey Patterson.
  24. My hope for the draft is still Justin Smoak at no. 8... but that's probably a long shot.
