good trade, can turn out to be a great one. Carter, while I like him, is only in A Ball and at least 2 years away from even making it to the bigs... Still wish that we can somehow get Cunnigham back now. -

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 07:42 PM) LOL, that's a terrible argument. Of all the problems you could come up with, this is the one you name and use Michigan as an example. Well done. What? I was just saying that should be a good game, not an example. Missouri not in is BS. VT not facing WVU, are you kidding me? Georgia vs. USC would be a great rose bowl... just plain idiotic. -
Question: What happened to the Cuban SS?
BearSox replied to Chombi's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
bench guy who can play SS and the OF and has some pop, and can be a steal, at a low cost... I don't see why not. -

what a f***ing joke and what a f***ing horrible BCS. Hopefully they learn their lessons with horrible ratings this year. Michigan vs. Florida in the capitol one bowl should be one of the better games. -
How many moves wil KW make at Winter Meetings?
BearSox replied to yoyozuna's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm in favor of trading Dye, but it's not gonna happen. He has low trade value and if we were planning on trading him we would have just accepted Boston's offer at the deadline. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) 'We'll wait and see if something develops on the trade market,'' Williams said. ''It doesn't have to be a center fielder. We may choose to go the left-field route. We have a lot of flexibility as far as that's concerned.'' Flexibility = Jerry Owens can play either LF or CF http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...T-sox02.article I remember that quote, and I wanted to punch a baby in the face when I read it.

QUOTE(rockren @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) LOL. Which is a big reason why these threads annoy the hell out of me. This is probably the 5th thread or so like this since the beginning of November. It's fun to play GM, but never take these things seriously.

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Which projected lineups are these? you didn't hear? KW is now going to take a look at every fans projected lineup and get his ideas from there.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Well the funny thing is the excuses for some of the guys we drafted. We picked up Broadway because dealer Kenny wanted someone that would be ready quickly and we could use to trade for talent. Yet its Garza who was drafted after Broadway, and he is moved for Delmon. Young would of been great in our OF. Thats the type of impact young bat we need. So not only has our minors not given us some talent outside of a guy here or there. But now the trading chips dont look like they can get us anything. Its a failure all around. Hopefully Kenny gets off his hard on for certain players or we will waste the 8th draft pick on Danks brother. What an overdraft that will be. Hell, if we had Garza we would keep him and he'd be our no. 3 right now. -
Will the rebuilt Twins finish ahead of the goinforitall Sox?

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) No idea, who else do they have to play the outfield? well, if they get Cabrera for CF, I think they might have a platoon of Tyner and Monroe in LF. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) KW has all but admitted Owens will be starting at either LF or CF. and if thats the case, the season would be done before it started, so might as well keep all of our "prospects" instead trying to improve the team by maybe 5 wins.
-
Crede for Matt Kemp straight up? Where the f*** do I sign up?
-
Xaiver Nady is a good platoon player, but we don't have anyone to platoon him with. Unless of course we choose to platoon him with Jerry Owens, in which case if Jerry Owens is getting 400 AB's in a season, we would suck regardless of who we put out there vs. lefties... unless we have a dominate pitching staff and a much improved middle of the order (such as Miggy or Bay), which are both very doubtful. Times like these make me wonder why the f*** aren't re rebuilding?

QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 12:00 PM) An outfield of Cabrera, Cuddyer, and Young might be the best throwing outfield in history. Isn't Cuddyer just going to move back to 3B? -

BearSox replied to WHITESOXRANDY's topic in Pale Hose Talk
so um, can someone catch me up to speed? Is it true that twins intentions are too rebuild and have an awesome young competitive team by 2010 when their new stadium is built? That is good for the short term, but we're f***ed in the long term, if we weren't already. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) If you put KW's comments together, Jerry Owens seems like a lock to be starting in LF next season. With that in mind, Xavier Nady would be a great acquisition to fill in against LHP. The Pirates are desperate to get rid of him, and you could probably get him for someone like Adam Russell and Heath Phillips. Nady could really help against LHP, and then just let OC lead off against. Why offer anything for him when the Pirates pretty much said they will non-tender him?

another guy to keep an eye on is Yohan Pino... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/P/Yohan-Pino.shtml http://twins.scout.com/2/563806.html He struggled at AA, but he's worth the risk of a bullpen arm and possible future starter, IMO.
-
we still might be able to keep Hernandez as he might go undrafted due to the fact that there could be a lack of teams actually thinking he is ready for the bigs.

Don't ask me how, and this would never happen, but... LINEUP: 1. Fukodome, CF (FA signing) 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Bay, LF 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Fields, 3B 9. Richar, 2B BENCH: UTL, Bourgeois INF, Lamb (FA signing) OF, Barton (Rule V Draft) C, Hall ROTATION: 1. Buehrle 2. Vazquez 3. Contreras 4. Floyd 5. Broadway/Gonzalez/Egbert BULLPEN: CP, Jenks SU, Linebrink SU, Thornton SU/MRP, MacDougal MRP/LRP, Affeldt (FA signing) LOOGY, Logan ROOGY, Wasserman

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 05:49 PM) He was hurt being thrown to the ground by his coach to keep him away from an umpire. Let me repeat that, in case you didn't get it the first time: He was hurt being thrown to the ground by his coach to keep him away from an umpire. if I recall correctly, he'll be out for a good portion of the 08 season as well.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Barton is awesome. Plus, he could design the team airplane to be more fuel efficient and save Kenny $$$

the reason why the Mets had to give up Milledge is because they were trading within the division. If they were doing the same exact trade with a team in lets say the AL West, Milledge would not have to be part of the deal, IMO. With that being said, I think Milledge is overrated anyway.

Sox looking at Fukudome, Bay, not Rowand
BearSox replied to beck72's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
If we can get Fukudome and Bay, that'd be a pretty good offseason. Bay is a good player who wouldn't cost nearly as much as MCab. A lineup of (see below) would be great. And would allow us to eventually trade Dye (especially if he is doing good) at the deadline if everything is going as planned (Thome, Bay & Konerko playing up to their level, Fields improving, and Fukudome doing good) and then shift Fukudome to RF... 1. Fukudome, CF 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Bay, LF 6. Dye, RF 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Fields, 3B 9. Richar, 2B Also, if we don't select Barton from the Rule V draft if he is still available, I'll be pissed as f***. Almost as pissed when we passed on Porcello. -
The Sox have relievers available to trade ?
