  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:58 PM) I would guess it's just Burke for mostly fodder. Maybe Burke for Thorton or MacDougal? Crede for Burke doesn't seem too good. Burke is fine as a bench player, but I wouldn't want the Sox giving up a whole helluva lot for him. Crede for Burke doesn't seem good but Thornton or MacDougal does?
  2. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) has to be named six months after the trade is announced. LaPorta can't be traded until a year after he signed his pro contract, which was at least a couple of weeks after the draft, which was June 6th or 7th?... Do the math. Nothing with LaPorta can happen between now and say January. And there is zero chance the Brewers intend to part with him for 1-year of a balky-backed defensive specialist after shocking the baseball world with the pick in the first place. I know we aren't getting him. I was just saying it is possible, highly improbable, but later on of course
  3. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) Interesting. Burke would be a nice backup option at 2nd and he could also fill in in the outfield. Great defense and if Richar doens't pan out can start (plus he probably could platoon if necessary). I just wouldn't give up much of value for Burke (ie any top flight talent). I also think this would mean the Sox have to get rid of Crede/Uribe. I'm going to guess a reliever for Burke deal if it were to happen (one or two of the guys that Kenny has soured on). aka Aaaaaaaaaardsma, Sisco or Massett.
  4. Burke would be a great bench guy to get. Platoon w/ Richar vs. lefties and he can play the OF.
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) THE BREWERS CAN'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TRADING LAPORTA UNTIL JUNE. PTBNL...
  6. QUOTE(max power @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:49 PM) He also had an ERA over 6. yeah, that didn't help either hmm... would the Phils be willing to deal Fabio Castro for Crede... probably no chance of that.
  7. well, to be fair, Reyes got a lot of those L's due to getting the worst run support in the league.
  8. if we can get him for a reasonable package, why the heck not. But I think the A's would decide to keep him in hopes of him being healthy and then getting a kings ransom for him. However, I still think we should make a push for Haren. Danks and Fields could get it down... perhaps another player thrown in there such as Anderson or Getz.
  9. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 07:49 PM) I'm pretty sure it's official Rule 5 draft policy that Sox leave a talented reliever unprotected. Isn't it? ah yes, the mystery of why we didn't put Fabio Castro on our 40 man reason for some stupid ass reason.
  10. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Bears, you are the undisputed king of posting lineups thank you!
  11. 1. Fukudome, CF 2. Cabrera, SS 3. Thome, DH 4. Konerko, 1B 5. Dye, RF/LF 6. Fields, 3B 7. Pierzynski, C 8. Quentin, LF/RF 9. Richar, 2B that wouldn't look so bad.
  12. QUOTE(forrestg @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:10 AM) I beleve for us to participate in choosing someone in the ruleV draft we too have to have an opening on the 40 man roster. Is that correct ? We'd have to make room since whoever we select would have to stay on our 25 man roster for the whole year if we want to keep him.
  13. QUOTE(beck72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:44 PM) Dye is fine in RF. He's not going anywhere unless the sox are 20 games out come the deadline. Dye is fine, but isn't a spring chicken, and is too slow for RF and needs to be moved to 1B or DH sooner rather then later. I'd gladly take Bay over him.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 2, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Oh dear...Lincecum has just about the best stuff I've seen from a young pitcher in years. I'd take him over Felix Hernandez. He's also smaller then Gio and his mechanics aren't pretty... I like him to, but I'd be shocked if he holds up longer more then a couple of season, if that.
  15. apparently th D-Rays got Glenn Gibson... stupid move by the Nats, IMO.
  16. QUOTE(rockren @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Lame. extremely lame. Just offer him a normal contract you'd offer to a non-boras client. If Boras goes over board then just say see ya.
  17. Hell, I'd trade Dye to whatever team wants him, move Quentin to RF, and have Bay in LF. Bay > Dye.
  18. Elijah Dukes, close to being the worst form of a human being... Hope the Nats enjoy him for the month or so he will be with them cause we all know he's going to do something crazy. If I was a player on the Nats, I'd be scared for my life right now.
  19. The rumored deal between the Indians and Pirates is Shoppach and Cliff Lee for Bay... are you kidding me? If this is true, what a f***ing steal by Cleveland.
  20. Dodgers have offered him a two year 16 million dollar contract... KW Better be all over this.
  21. I wouldn't mind to continue dealing with the Diamondbacks next year or the year after and get Jackson when Thome leaves.
  22. yeah, this deal doesn't make a whole lot of sense from a Diamondbacks perspective, IMO...
