Jon Garland traded for Orlando Cabrera
I have a question... why sign Uribe for 5 million, and then trade for a SS? Okay, lots of people were expecting to see Garland traded, but our biggest need right now on offense is a leadoff hitter! This tells me that KW and Ozzie are now planning on having Jerry Owens start in CF and leadoff...

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Nov 19, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Why in the world would KW trade Garland and keep Contreras I will never know. Thanks for the 2005 World Series champion, Jon. We'll miss you. Well, it's because Contreras said he wants to stay in Chicago.

Kenny Williams, what the f*** are you doing? Jon Garland, a 28 year old right handed sinkerballer, for a decent 33 year old SS? Are you f***ing kidding me? Okay, there were some thoughts about trading Garland, but you just traded him for crap you dumbass Kenny Williams. Couldn't have tried to get a leadoff hitter as well? f*** you Kenny, and hello last place finish.

how about a catcher
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) LOL...so you made a statement as if it were a fact, when in reality you had no knowledge of the circumstances at all? I assumed he had gotten better because of how much the Marlins pitchers had progressed... but in this instance of assuming I just made myself look like an ass.

RP Yasuhiko Yabuta
QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 18, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) That is unlikely to happen. I wish the Sox would part ways with the Royals rejects and outbid the Royals for this Japanese guy. I would rather we trot anybody out there than some of the hacks the Sox used in the pen last year. Yep, cause we all know MacDougal is a Royal reject...

2007 Post ASB White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 17, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) Hopefully the sox have Josh taking as many ground balls as he can. They should invest in a trainer that can work with Josh in the offseason, and hit as many ground balls as you can. Work on drills such as coming in on the ball. I think with more and more ground balls and practice Josh can become a halfway decent 3rd Baseman. I think Josh's biggest problem is his glove work. He already is getting most of the balls, but whenever he gets them, usually when he reaches for the ball it pops out. I think Fields can be a very good third baseman if he can fix his glove work. Oh yeah, he needs to work on being able to hit a fastball, and not chase high fastballs.

Sox's hunt for OF is on
if the dodgers get rownd they means Pierre is definitely done with them. As for us going after Pierre, I'd pass, unless the Dodgers are picking up a huge chunk of his contract.

White Sox Fall/Winter League Discussion Thread
The Desert Dogs won their 4th straight AFL title today. Sweeney played RF, batted cleanup, and went 2-4, with 2 runs, 1 2B, 1 RBI, and 1 BB (0 K). Getz batted 8th and went 2-5 with an RBI, and no K's. So, at least he is consistently putting the bat on the ball.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 12:57 PM) Looks like Sweeney picked it up a little. I hope he was working on his swing or something in the AFL because his SLG sucks beyond belief. At the beginning of the AFL I watched an interview or something and Sweeney said he was going to just work on his swing and go from there. And today on WhiteSox.com they post the article farther pointing out that Sweeney has indeed been working on his swing this AFL.

how about a catcher
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 03:17 PM) Fixed. Olivo can't call a game. He still gets his signals from the dugout. well, I haven't really watched him over the past 3 years, so i wouldn't know... I'd still take him over Hall.
-
how about a catcher
I wouldn't mind Olivo. He wasn't a great game caller when he was here, but he has improved, and he's got a gun behind the plate. Plus, he's a much better hitter vs. lefties then he is vs. righties.

Crede/Fields
I would do a Crede for Delwyn Young deal in a heartbeat

Iguchi released
QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Wait, do the Phillies get draft picks no.

Iguchi released
I like Iguchi, but Mark Loretta should be the guy we are looking at for 2B. Perfect platoon option/situational player.

Phoenix won today 8-0. Sweeney went 3 for 5 today with 2 doubles and 2 rbi. Getz went 0 for 4 with a BB and a run scored, but at least no K's so he did put the ball in play.
