  1. She's probably tired of all this s***. No matter what you think of her, she actually seems like an honest politician, and I think she's realizing no matter what she does, she'll get smeared. I wouldn't be surprised if she disappears into obscurity for a while, just to get away from it all for a while. Plus, it's not just her that gets smearing, it's her whole family including her underage children. This is a move that would also protect them. I bet for a while she'll be relatively unheard from, but in around 5 years, I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to make a comeback in politics.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) I really don't understand what the Nat's GM is doing here. This and the Dukes demotion scream of a guy more concerned with chemistry then talent. That's a HUGE problem. Chemistry is huge in baseball. Probably bigger in baseball than any other sport, IMO.
  3. I bet they were having him throw mainly offspeed and breaking stuff so he could get a feel for those pitches again during a game.
  4. So far 2 scoreless and hit less innings for Griffith. 1 K and 1 BB.
  5. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) Please refrain from posting things that appear to taunt Sox fans. This is our fan board, y'know. Who cares... no matter what he does, the Royals are still a terrible team and have been for quite some time. I was quite surprised at how bad they were last night. Terrible approaches at bat, terrible base running, terrible fielding. They are just a bad team.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:35 PM) High mileage are you a Royals fan? What up with that pic? Did the sig of Grienke and the avy of George Brett not give it away?
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) I'd be very surprised if Fields got sent down. I love BA as much as the next guy, but he's pretty much blown his shot this year. I'm no fan of Anderson, but I'd keep him solely for his D. If you keep Wise you got a lefty off the bench who's slightly less bad of a hitter but a better threat on the bases. With Anderson, you got more power, but a worse hitter, not as fast of a runner, but a very good defensive player. I'll take the later. Plain and simple, neither should be getting any regular playing time, but I'll take the defensive replacement over the pinch runner.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) Defensive talent and ability. The guy can't hit. The question is who gets sent down when CQ is ready? If not BA or Wise, it has to be a reliever. I assume Wise would go, but don't rule out Fields being sent down.
  9. Might as well move Pods to CF now and let Nix get the rest of the time in LF until Q is back
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) I hate interleague baseball. Call me a traditionalist, but I always found it fascinating, how in a very real sense, we had two separate leagues that'd only meet for a championship series. I hate the ever-increasing concept of the manufactured rivalry. I think 6 series a year is too much. I say keep the 2 series vs. your interleague rival team, and then have 2 more series vs. 2 random NL opponents each year (it'd take 8 years to go through the league). Oh, and for the 2 league champions, they should definitely have a WS rematch in interleague play.
  11. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) Perhaps. But as much of a traditionalist I am in everything else, I really prefer the DH. I'd rather pull my nails out than watch some pitcher take three weak swings and sit down. The thing is, most pitchers are bad at hitting because they haven't had to focus on it at all. If they made the same rules for both leagues, I'd much rather see pitchers hit than have the DH.
  12. Personally, I'd keep BA for the rest of the year. He's our best defensive OF at any spot. However, I'd either have Ramirez or Pods play CF with Nix filling in the remaining spot. Also, I'd get rid of Wise and call up Kroeger. Kroeger would act as the lefty off the bench and can play either corner spot as well as 1B, and maybe even CF. I'd try and trade Fields to Oakland. Not sure with whom I'd replace him on the bench with, but it'd have to be someone who can play the INF.
  13. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) I should've phrased that differently. I LOVE divisional games. I hate 18-19 divisonal games. 12, or even 15, would be much better IMO. In my plan, divisional games would have to be trimmed down to 15-16 games, at least for the central.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:05 PM) Why? It'd make things even, how is that different from what you originally said? I'd be scared they make the DH in both leagues. I'm a big fan of the more traditional play the NL uses, and I'd be sad to see that go.
  15. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:03 PM) I respect your view, but I don't like to hear how it's completely unfair to assume he's a cheater when he has played in the dirtiest era in the history of the game. Suspecting him is one thing, but automatically assuming he is, I just think that's crap. Like I said before, it's basically racial profiling, except with baseball players.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 12:01 PM) If he's 21, how in the hell would Contreras be able to guarantee he throws that hard? He would've been about 15 when Contreras got out of Cuba. He's still got family and probably friends in Cuba, as well as probably a lot of connections. Plus, he's still probably pays close attention to Cuban baseball and probably has seen him pitch several times.
  17. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) I cannot wait until he tests positive or is tied to steroids somehow, just to bump threads like this where people are willfully ignoring the fact that we all know he's on something. It wouldn't shock me if he does fail a test. It wouldn't shock for 90% of the players in the league. However, until there is a legit reason to say he's guilty, I'm not gonna say he's guilty.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) Move the Astros from the NL Central to the AL West, problem solved. Or if you care about interleague and don't want to take the Rangers' rivals away then move, say, the Rockies to the AL West, and the Astros out of the NL Central to replace the Rockies in the west. Either way both leagues would have 15 teams. If each league had 15 teams, inter league play would take place throughout the whole year. Some people might like that, but I would think it'd be terrible. It would take away from divisional games and games vs the rest of your league. Plus, if you did that, you'd definitely have to make the rules the same in both leagues. Either get rid of the DH or have pitchers bat. And if it meant have pitchers bat, I might be a fan of it.
  19. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) Florida's new stadium is a few years away isn't it? That kind of sucks, don't want to take a trip for a football stadium. See you in DC. Tickets will be cheap and readily available. I don't even know if they got approval for a new stadium yet.... one of the Florida teams really needs to move out of Florida. Neither get good attendance (until the playoffs) and I'd prefer to see the Rays get moved mainly because they have such a gay name. Rays (of sunshine) is probably the gayest name of any team in sports. I say you move the Marlins to Orlando (keep them as the Florida Marlins) and build them a kickass stadium. Places in and around Orlando are big tourist attractions, and if you put a team there, you can get a lot of tourists in your ball park. Lets go to Universal Studios one day, and a Marlins game the next!
  20. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) Pfff, have they ever even played? I don't know... has the WH finished that BBall court installation?
  21. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) It's amazing how far some people go to try and prove their ridiculous claim that all politicians are the same. Is Kevin Johnson really Obama's buddy anyways? Yeah, they like to ball it up together.
  22. I really dislike how they do the inter league schedules... what was up with us traveling to Pittsburgh back to back years? The only interleague team you should face back to back years are your interleague rivals. I also feel the American League needs 2 more teams added to make things more even.
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) Amazing how fan perceptions change when a guy has a few good (or bad) games. 1.) It's been more than a few games. Everytime Nix has had a shot at some playing time, he's produced offensively and defensively. 2.) Nix would have been the starting 2B out of ST if not for his injury. He was raking during ST.
  24. how did Negron and Kroeger look?

    Pie...um...

I'm a big fan of apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on top or plain cherry pie.
