f***, I really wished we traded for Jackson when I was clamoring for us to get him.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) Phegley has a very unfortunate and easy name to make fun of haha How is it actually pronounced? "Feg-lee"? Hopefully he just mashes and it wont matter.... I've heard it pronounced as "fag-lee" a couple of time.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) How does a dead person type on Twitter? uh, you ever hear of ghosts? You'd think some people were born yesterday with some of these questions....

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:45 PM) I see blind people every day by themselves. Can you put your credit card in a CTA bus? No, but there are these new things called bus cards which are a lot easier to use than money What about when you pay to get on the el? Again, aren't there cards you can use? What about if they want a coke out of a vending machine? How are they suppossed to know how much to put in or which one is coke? Do vending machines have braille, I haven't noticed? Also, wouldn't changing all the systems that accept dollar bills to accept completely different bills of different sizes be a pretty lengthy and costly task? Might just be easier to carry a role of quarters with you. They should be able to use money just as easily as you or I. I don't disagree, but the sad truth is that their blind. No matter what, handling money for non-blind people will likely be easier than it is for most blind people.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Like I said earlier/in the other thread/wherever...the problem with Alexei right now is that lately he's had a rash of these. We had a good 10 game errorless stretch earlier this year, although there were some fielding mistakes, they're really coming in bunches right now. Maybe some of it has to do with a newbie at 3b, maybe some of it is a lack of focus, whatever. Right now, what we're seeing is intolerable; it's costing us runs. A lot. I wouldn't mind a message being sent if he keeps this performance up on the field, ditto for other guys, but we need to see improvement starting now towards the end of the season, because right now we're trending the wrong direction, and that's a trend that can't continue. It just infuriates me when people with so much talent blow it because they're too lazy, too scared, too cocky, whatever the case may be. Alexei definitely needs a wake up call, and perhaps another couple game stint with Nix at SS will provide at least a little bit of a wake up call like it did a couple months ago.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) There are indeed computers for blind people, in fact it may make some things, like shopping, easier. I see blind people walking around downtown every day. Chances are they purchase things at some point. braille keyboard, words get read by the robot guy? And while they may purchase things, don't you think they might use a credit card to make it easier on themselves, not only with bills but also with change?

QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) As much as it would pain me to see.....Clint Eastwood is 79. he seems in good shape but he could be one to go soon Clint Eastwood will never die.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Judging by L. Lohan's picture on perezhilton.com tonight, she might be a good candidate. why??????????? What is the bigger question.... why did she have to become so ugly or why were you on perezhilton.com?

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 06:53 PM) And consider this: right now the Sox have the second best ERA in the AL. Bad defense and great pitching...hmm. how the hell did this happen?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:11 PM) Piniella truly is a Cubbie now. When your team sucks, you make fun of the attendance of the White Sox. I got the impression that he just doesn't care anymore about managing. Also, that was a great quote by Ozzie.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 07:03 PM) I am 99.9999% sure that bmags' post was sacrastic. I think BearSox's, unfortunately, was not. Okay, how many blind people do you see go shopping by themselves on a regular basis? The fact that they can't tell the difference between a 1 and a 5 is the least of their problems.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) BS, I hope that the blind don't read what you wrote... I hope there are no braille computers out there....

At this point with the cubs, you gotta look past the contracts. You f***ing suck, go sit down. The only problem is they have no one to replace them with.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) First of all, if you exploited the warranty loop like every one else has done, you wouldn't have this problem in the first place. Once the warranty is about to run out, you return it to the store, exchange it for a new PS3, buy a new warranty. Sony could easily put the hammer down on this, but they don't. That's generosity #2 from that company. Second of all, electronics break. Deal with it. When your TV breaks, call the manufacturer and ask them to send you a brand new one, free of charge. Even a less than half price refurbished model. They won't do it. People take very good care of their automobile's, and they eventually break. No car manufacturer sends them a brand new car when the old one finally has had enough. That's just not how business works. The only reason Microsoft can do what they do is because they sunk over a billion dollars into their model. And they did it only after a 60% or so failure rate. Sony doesn't have those deep pockets. Very few businesses in the world do. The fact that Sony doesn't tell you that you are s*** out of luck should be more than enough to a 'loyal customer.' They're offering you a better than fair deal (and the refurbished models are more or less brand new, I speak from experience) and you just want 'more, more, more.' If I were the customer rep dealing with you, I would have told you that you're s*** out of luck and that your only option is the buy a new one and then closed the call with, "Welcome to the real world." Are you really comparing a PS3 to a car and big screen televisions? Give me a break. There's quite a difference. A 90 day warranty is not acceptable, considering I took care of my brand new one and it still broke. Sorry, but I ain't trusting a refurbished one (say whatever you want, refurbished does not equal new) to last maybe more than a year.

what's the GTA bug? And yes, I talked to a supervisor, and it wasn't any different than talking to support personal. I really don't think a supervisor could have done anything now cause he basically gave me no options as well. I sent an e-mail to them complaining about the service and asked for it to be sent to management (which they e-mailed back and said they were delivering it to management). Hopefully this yields better results, angry letters stating to be a loyal costumer threatening to completely abandon them for their rival sometimes do the trick. Or they can be stubborn dicks like directv was for my family and say too bad that we got s***ty service from them.

Might not be a bad idea to go after DeRosa in the offseason if he isn't asking for a ton.
-
Who do Milton Bradley and Alfonso Soriano have pictures of? No way should Soriano be batting leadoff still and no way should Bradley be in the lineup everyday in the 3 hole.

While it is looking more and more like that list is fake, I doubt it would surprise anyone if that list is indeed true or many of the players on that list are on the real one. EDIT: Yeah, the fact that Burnitz is on the list twice, that pretty much indicates that whoever came up with it got lazy towards the end and this is fake. If you noticed, the names are grouped by teams. And in 2003, Burnitz played for the Dodgers and Mets, and he's grouped with both teams. Looks like whoever came up with it knows their stuff and isn't an idiot, but he came up with this list by selecting possible PED users by looking at every team's rosters in 2003.

QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) Ozzie... In the post game presser today said that Alexei will be the SS for the Sox as long as Ozzie is the manager. He said fans need to get Alexei moving to CF out of their minds. I got no problem keeping him there for the rest of the season cause I frankly don't think we're gonna do much, and thinking about it, a move like that would be quite the change mid-season. However, we'll see if Ozzie and more importantly Kenny change their mind about Alexei by the end of the year and heading into ST 2010.

Not as good as the Iverson one, but funny.

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) Farmer and Jackson have been all over Ramirez today, calling him "lost" on how to turn the double play. He looks lost on the field altogether. Either his mind isn't on the game, or he's dumb, or he thinks he's the greatest player ever. Plus, it's looking quite evident he doesn't have the courage to stay in on a DP. Also, at bat, even though he did hit a homer today, he still tries to pull everything. I love Alexei, but he really needs to put his s*** together.
-
That spin thing he did on the DP was despicable. You don't do that s***. He almost blew the DP by taking an extra couple of seconds to get rid of the ball with his stupid ass flashy spin. I wouldn't have been oppossed to pulling him right after that inning. We're not the Cubs. We're not a team that does a hop and a jump to catch routine fly balls (Soriano), or raise their hands to the heavens after making a fairly routine diving catch (Bradley). There's no room for that s***. I'd bench Alexei tomorrow, I don't give a s*** if he hit a home run today.

I bet most of our errors have come in the past 2 weeks-month. It seems like every game we've played this month, we've had 2-3 errors in it.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) I got a refurbished one. When the say refurbished, they pretty much mean new. There is no difference at all. I really don't give a crap, I don't trust it. As someone who took very good of their PS3 for 2 years+ and have it break on them, I'm not trusting a refurbished one. Odds are that one would just bite the dust in a year or two anyway. Also, my family and I have had a bad history with getting refurbished stuff back. I don't trust it. If they expect me to pay 150 bucks, they better offer more than a 90 f***ing day guarantee.

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?
BearSox replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Thornton has a good shot. He's really been dominate this year, and he seems to have picked up popularity all around the league with his appearance in the WBC as well as his fastball dominating lefties. I know set up men usually don't get a lot of love for the all star game, but in this case, it makes sense. He's probably the best left handed reliever in all of baseball right now.
