  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) This has been the rumor all along, my bet is this is a trial balloon to see how much flack they will get. Also, if this health plan is the BEST THERE IS, then why are senators, representatives, and the president exempt from it? If they legislate this healing pile of s*** on us, they need to live in the same health care system. I'm really beginning to think the plan is to have a total economic collapse so the progressives can reshape the foundation of America. Look at all this crap: billions of dollars we don't have spent on stimulus packages that haven't worked, about to pass a cap and trade tax which won't help the environment but raise our energy prices by a ridiculous amount, will soon be getting socialized health care, the government is taking over GM and the banks, etc., etc., etc. This is beyond ridiculous.
  2. Glenn Beck pretty much sums it up: Sick and tired of dirtbag politicians. I thought Sanford was a good one, but apparently not. He's just like most other politicians. As Balta said, do what I say, and not what I do.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) A guy with speed taking too many walks is a bad thing? If he's taking the walks but not striking out a ton then that means he's getting on base. That's when a speedster should be going to town. I think he was trying to explain Greg Walker's hitting philosophy....
  4. Not good news, IMO... wasn't it because of his fastball-slider combo that made him so attractive in the first place?
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) But, Alexei is playing his first year at the big league SS position. He did real good last year at 2B, which was not his "natural position". Alexei for all his talent is still learning at the big league level. I have seen some plays where he is absolutely incredible and then he blows easy ones. It is concentration he needs to work on and work hard all the time. This is Ozzie's way to motivate Ramirez I think. Think about it, SS is Alexei's natural spot and he's been playing quite poorly over there. However, 2B is not his natural position, and he played great over there... I'm starting to think while SS is his "natural" spot, he's at his best either at 2B or in the OF.
  6. I wouldn't mind letting Richard skip a start and get some more rest and recovery time and let Poreda start in his place 1 time.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 07:09 AM) Not a chance, Alexei will be a much better SS than Beckham would be able to. Alexei is a rookie at the position and is still learning, give him time. He's 27 and all those years in Cuba playing SS don't count? I'm starting to realize why Alexei got moved from SS to the OF in Cuba.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 08:06 AM) If so, then he's going to do the same thing somewhere else anyway, so moving him doesn't help things unless you want to DH him. I think he'll be much better off in the OF. First off, there will never really be a reason for him not to fire the ball into the infield. Second, he'll have more time to read and react to the ball. He might make the same mistakes else where on the field, but SS is the most crucial spot on the field, IMO, that I'd prefer to have those mistakes moved to either 2B, LF, or CF.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 08:07 AM) Also, this isn't really true some of the time anyway. One of his two recent errors was on a leap for a line drive that he just plain misjudged. That is something physical, and something that would improve over experience, probably. I don't even think he had to jump for the ball. That was a severe lack of judgment and/or he tried to be flashy and make a leaping grab.
  10. Justin Greene just keeps hitting!
  11. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 25, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) All of the above sadly, big fan of Ed, though Michaels hit the worst. So unexpected. Grew up (more of the parents/grandparents though, but I listened as a kid) listening to that talented man. The King of Pop gone.. kinda reminds my grandparents of the Cash & Presley lost. Farrahs hurt more for the older siblings, but she was more of the "anyday" type from the battling of cancer. Still a loss nontheless though probably the first two will be overshadowed sadly. "The King of Pop" died a long time ago... who died was just a creepy billionaire guy who liked to touch little boys.
  12. I love Alexei and he has some of the best natural ability on team, but more and more I am learning that he is no SS. He has the talent to be extremely good there, but really lacks the brains. Today was another example of many. I have long supported keeping him at SS, but I think the time to move him is now, especially if we still feel we can be competitors. Basically, I'd move Alexei to CF (Wise and BA have been basically putrid), Beckham to SS (his natural spot), and Fields/Nix at 3B. Even though Fields and Nix aren't sexy options at 3B, I'd take their bats of BA and Wise.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) The Surprise comes later. But the New FutureSox was launched yesterday. www.futuresox.com If I do say so myself, its very f***ing badass!@!!!!! DAMN YOU!
  14. I must say, with the PS3 broken and this site being down, that was probably the longest 3-4 days of my life.
  15. Love the new format, but one thing... could we add a links to the DSL teams as well?
  16. Is it finally back!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) Why's that? Too many strikeouts? Or just low on the overall scale of odds. Mainly odds, but I'm not a huge fan of his game as well. I'm not saying he'll bust, but I'll be ecstatic if he turns into a .300 hitter.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) Mitchell turns in to a .320 hitter with power and we hit him 3rd Mitchell turns into a .300 hitter, I'll jizz my pants and never doubt KW ever again.
  19. I strained (is that the same as pulling it?) my hammy doing sprints today... any good tips on a fast recovery, because any extended time off is really gonna hurt my regimen.
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 08:28 AM) I got that 4 or 5 months ago. They said it was something to do over heating but it wasnt my fault. Fortunately, I had about 2 months left on a 2 year additional warranty I bought at the time for $75 so the fix and shipping and handling were free. The s***ty part was all of my data was lost. I wonder why they won't let you keep your harddrive... what are they gonna do with it?
  21. Come on front office.... get at least one of Dane Williams or Brian Goodwin signed!!!!
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) In regards to Williams, I only counted his first 9 seasons, not 9 years. I know he was in the war. And the bolded part...just look at the guy. If he starts to get flabby like Thome, Thomas, or Griffey as he ages, I might take back my statement. But hell, by that time, someone will have already tied him to steroids anyway. So you are saying that if he doesn't stay fit into his late 30's, he's a steroid guy? From everything I've heard and read, Pujols is a guy who has a work ethic second to none and works extremely hard to be in great shape every year. And I think someone said something about him getting bigger since his minor league days, well duh. He was 20 in the minors and still likely wasn't done growing. Also, considering he was just getting on an MLB conditioning and strength program, I'd say he was just scratching the surface of his physical ability by the time he got up the pros.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) For the 3 months between ARod's steroid admission and Selena Roberts's book, people were thinking exactly the same thing about ARod; oh he was just using for those 3 years. Not everyone, but a good number. Then she came out with a book saying he was juicing in high school. I still have no conclusive reason to believe that Bonds just started juicing in 1999, rather than switching which steroid he was on. Yeah, I'd say around 1999 he probably increased the dosage or went to a stronger type.... not that he just started.
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) My boy hammerhead johnson had it in his sig, and the site he said it for a long time here. Posted some of what I found here. It's scary to think how good Thomas used to be. However, injuries and becoming pull happy really effected the 2nd half of his career.
  25. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1...e_greatest.html Obviously, considering Hornsby hit over .400 a couple of times, and even had a season with over 40 homers and a BA over .400. I think his other similar season he had a BA over .400 but only 39 homers. I doubt we'll ever see anyone with numbers like that again in a season.
