  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) I now feel justified because you disagree with me. Oh, and he's Rogers Hornsby, and Albert Pujols has hit more homers in nine years than Hornsby did in his entire career. In his first nine years in the majors, Pujols has over 50 more homers than Williams had to that point. All the while, Pujols was unknown until he tore up the majors. The guy is on something. You can flame me all you want because there's no rock solid proof yet, but I'm sure we'll see soon enough. By denying it now, you're really just putting off the inevitable. First off, Rogers Hornsby is arguably the greatest right handed hitter of all time, but got overshadowed because he played in the same era as Ruth. As for Ted Williams, you forget to mention that he had lost 3-4 full seasons due to the war, and that took place during his first 10 years in the bigs. Those were 3 huge years for him as he was 24 and only getting better. The most impressive thing is that he came back in 46 and got back right to where he left off. Pujols wasn't unknown, and the likely reason for him dropping to the 13th round was because he was a JuCo guy. Pujols tore up the minors when he got drafted and was listed as one of the top prospects in all of baseball. Also, there is no reason to think he has taken steroids. Besides good stats, give me one reason to suspect him. I'm not saying he did or didn't, but it's asinine to say he's clearly a PED user because he's been putting up such good numbers. That's crap.
  2. I don't think I'm attracted to Ryan Sweeney anymore... I'd prefer a title change, and whoever changes it, you can make it to whatever you want, but I've had it with Sweeney, he's broken my heart too many times.
  3. One important question... will the clock be fixed (working right now, actually)!?!?
  4. That's very cool, congrats!
  5. If you guys want, I'm "friends" with Dan Hudson on facebook and I could try and set up an interview. However, now that he is in Birmingham, JPN might be able to do it better.
  6. I'm about to take a sledge hammer to my ps3.
  7. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:07 AM) Yessssssssss. It'll be epic if they do a saved by the bell reunion.
  8. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:19 AM) So Kane County Animal Control just called, they found my dog. What a great start to an exciting day for me!!! Congrats! Hopefully the dog is alright and you take some extra pre-cautions from now on!
  9. Not right now, but a draft section that covers the whole draft, not just what the white sox are doing. There aren't many free good draft sites, and I think with the posters we have, we can get really good coverage for next year draft, and get a lot more visitors to the site who are fans of other teams.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 05:23 PM) Pujols is on something. It might be steroids or HGH, but he's clearly on something. I honestly believe anyone who denies it is only doing so because they really don't want to believe it. So because he's putting up great stats, he's clearly on something? So was Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Roger Hornsby, etc, all juicers as well? He might have taken steroids in his past, I don't know. But there really is no indication of him having taken steroids. His numbers have always been great, he didn't turn into a huge muscle freak over night and his hat size has never grown 10 sizes. And he's never had his name linked to roids. I'm not buying the argument that he's clearly on something, that's bogus.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) It's never a pipe dream to imagine the Marlins trading a top young player. He'd be pretty expensive though, but yeah, that would be very awesome. I would think Josh Johnson is a much more realistic target than Haren also. Haren is going nowhere. The thing that worries me about Johnson is how long will his elbow hold up?... he's got ace stuff though.
  12. Justin Greene might be deserving of a promotion soon.
  13. Where's that skanberg cartoon of Ozzie with the Linebrink attached to his chest? I don't know why, but Ozzie keeps trotting him out there day after day.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) This is one of the reasons I don't think the government should be legislating morality. Government has to legislate morality, the question is how much. At this point, I say give gay marriage policies and such to the states, let them choose what they want.
  15. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) unfortunately I think the last guy who looked like that was Aroid Career averages, he has 30 points less regarding BA and OPS is below 1. Plus, he strikes out at about double (probably over double) the rate Pujols does and he's a steroid guy. Obviously though, you got Dimaggio, Ruth, Gehrig, and Williams will beastly numbers. The fact that Dimaggio has pretty much the same amount of homeruns as he does strikeouts (8 more K's than HR's) is one of the most impressive numbers in all of sports, IMO.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) And it's not even close. Joe Mauer has been getting a lot of pub of late (deservedly so). But in my baseball world, there's Pujols and then everybody else. Agreed. I've been saying this back when people were still on ARoid's bandwagon. Pujols is simply a beast. How many players in the history have a career average of .334, OPS of 1.043, strike out only around 60 times a year, average 40 homers a year (is on pace for 61 homers this year!), and average 120+ RBI's a year? I don't know, but probably not many. Plus, it doesn't matter what the situation is, all he does is hit.
  17. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) I think that the financial implications of this matter on the Twins will far outweigh the health matter for Mauer, but thats JMO. Basically what I am saying is that they are going to choose one or the other in the next 2 years, and try and reload with prospects A la Santana. It really doesn't make sense not to use Mauer and Morneau as your cornerstones on offense, no matter if they take up a lot of your salary room. Both are two of the best hitters in the game, and both still have A LOT more baseball left them. Also, considering they already locked up Morneau long term a couple years ago, they won't have to worry about him for a while.
  18. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) i dont see how moving to 3B or a corner OF spot will keep him more healthy than 1B, but whatever You got Morneau at 1B, and any position has more longevity than C.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) That .230 average a hard .230? It'll go up, this is his first year in the MLB with consistent playing time.
  20. Yeah, they'd probably jump at an opportunity to unload Young's contract (he's averaging about 12 million for the next 4 years). However, he seems like the type of guy you move in the offseason, not when you are in a division title race.
  21. Sad about not being able to post here for 24 hours, happy about that in about 48 hours I'll be posting on an upgraded Soxtalk!
  22. I really want Ian Stewart as our thirdbaseman.
  23. If Mauer wants to maximize his offensive output and stay healthy for longer, he'll move to 3B (with his athleticism and natural ability, he could become at least decent there, IMO) or to one of the corner OF spots. However, if he wants to stay at catcher because he loves playing catcher, I got no beef with that.
  24. QUOTE (gatnom @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) Move over Ryan Sweeney? I've had it with Sweeney. He could be a real good hitter but he's got a s***ty approach at bat.
