I thought it was suppossed to have the slide show with the pictures relating to the stories, and I thought the colums were on the right... Did you guys change it or is it messing up?
-
How come it looks messed up on ie now?

feeling lazy today, so tomorrow I'm gonna do some final draft reports, and hopefully by Tuesday morning I'll have my top 100-150 ranked with a mock draft. If I had more time, I'd try and do a whole first day mock draft, but I think I'll only have time for round 1 and maybe supplemental round A.

JD, Jenks, Dotel, maybe Linebrink, probably Anderson, one of Getz or Fields, Colon, and maybe Pierzynski. The younger guys (Getz, Fields, Anderson) would likely be part of a bigger deal if they were dealt. -

I want some re-tooling on the coaching staff. First one is easy, fire Walker. Get rid of Ozzie Jr... AKA Joey Cora. I got nothing against Joey, but he seems to be basically Ozzie, and I'd like to see a differing view point in there. Plus, the work he's done with the infielders does not seem to be working out. Jeff Cox needs to be moved from 3B. Too many times we've had runners either stray off for no reason, him making stupid decisions holding or sending runners, etc. I like Cox though and think he's a great guy to have around as an infielders coach or something. Not loving Harold as the 1B coach. I loved it when we had Rock as the 1B coach though. I think the 1B should have a better idea about stealing bases and knowing the finer points of it. I would love to see Ricky Henderson at this spot, but I heard at the end of 07 with the Mets, he wasn't great in the clubhouse. However, I'd love to bring Ricky in as a roving minor league hitting and base running instructor, if he wouldn't fit in as a 1B coach. I wouldn't want to see Baines go though. Maybe move him back to bench coach or as an assistant hitting coach or something. -
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) From today's game: Bot 1st: St. Louis - A. Pujols hit sacrifice fly to deep left, S. Schumaker and C. Rasmus scored Just how far did he hit it? Looks like it was probably something similar to that play last year vs. KC where Alexei scored from 2nd on a sac fly... If you don't recall, the CF made a fine play and crashed into the wall or made a diving catch and was down, while the Missile flew around the bases.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Looking back in FutureSox, seemed everyone wanted Smoak or another power corner guy. The immediate posts following Beckham being picked were "Meh", "Dammit!", "barf" and "Boo". Funny looking back. My reaction was meh, as I wanted Smoak (who has been raking), but I've grown to love Slayer. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) Probably one of the most versitle young (or old really) players in the game. He's 6'3 mind you.. he can play 1B, 2B, 3B, LF or RF. 1B and 3B are probably his strongest positions range wise. Rockies can put him literally anywhere. He can play. The guy just has a ridiculous amount of power. The ball flies off his bat. He's got his average up to .230 after being down below .200 just a week ago. Man, I love watching him hit. He hits the ball HARD!

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) I wouldn't let that Wilkes Booth team anywhere near the Lincoln Saltdogs of the Independent League. Or at least not have them go to a movie together.

Anyone know anything about Justin Greene? Solid results in his first full season of pro ball. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 01:28 AM) Leesman is very legit. Nice to know. He's got some stuff to work on, but he's been having a very solid season. -

Is Charles Leesman a legit prospect? Didn't someone post something that a guy with the Sox org. was talking about him having some serious stuff? Also, what about Justin Greene. 2008 draft pick, batting .303 in Kanny right now. Doing pretty good, has an .871 OPS and has improved his K rate. Someone to keep an eye on. -
After a slow start, Kuhn's been raking. 19 for his last 41 and has got his average over .300. Gilmore is still hot, went 2-4 today. Got his average up to .240.
-
Is it an injury you get from pitching though? Is it because of his mechanics or what?
-
Ian Stewart absolutely raking right now. Had 2 homers Saturday night (4 in his last 4 games), both were bombs, a double, 5 rbi's, and made a hell of a defensive play at 3B. Colorado's never gonna trade him, but I'd love to have him as our 3B.

I mean is it gonna be a re-occuring thing? Is it something to be worried about in the future?

How did Nate McLouth end up in Atlanta and not here?
BearSox replied to VAfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's no reason why Morgan shouldn't be a part of their future plans. He's very solid defensively, and he's done nothing but hit at the MLB level. There really doesn't seem to be much of a difference between him or Hernandez, except Hernandez is still a ways away and Morgan has proven to be able to hit MLB pitching. If they got rid of Morgan because they have Hernandez, it just shows how incompetent they really are. If they were smart, they would have chose to go into next year with Morgan in LF, McCutchen in CF, and McLouth in RF. I'm sorry, but you don't trade your best player and the fan favorite in Pittsburgh for a mediocre pitcher and 2 guys with upside but aren't near MLB ready. Thats a huge slap in the face to the fans. -
Eh, doesn't sound like my thing.

what's the point of it? Does it get you high?

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:21 PM) This is nuts..Jayson Nix is batting .203 this season. He's not good, but people are acting like we discovered this amazing player. If someone could get through to him and get him to start using the whole field, he could turn into a solid player. He's always had the potential, and this year he's shown good power, has provided us with some very good AB's, actually looks like a hitter at bat, and has shown good versatility. I'm surprised at how well he's handled playing SS, 3B, LF, and RF this year, considering prior to this year he barely played any position but 2B (he had 40 games at SS when he first got into professional ball, and in the past couple years he's had a game here or there at 3B). If we actually work and practice him at these positions, and if he progresses as a hitter, best case scenario is something like Mark DeRosa, IMO. In fact, their stances and swing are similar.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) I'm really resentful of the fact that they have even dumber blackout rules than MLB does. Totally self-serving, and usually makes it virtually impossible for me to catch a Sox game simply because of where I live unless they happen to not be carrying a Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, or Braves game (which is basically never). If they at least would let me watch the games on MLB.tv I'd probably be more forgiving. The blackout rules are god awful. If the game isn't being broadcasted in your area, there's no reason why that game should be blacked out for MLB.tv or the MLB cable package. And as someone who owns MLB.tv, their blackout rules are awful as well. The MLB really needs to get all their s*** toghether regarding broadcasting.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 6, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Do you agree with me that Nix is a more valuable player than Getz? I think this whole thing will actually end up being a battle between those 2 for backup; Nix being the more versatile position player. I agree with that. Getz doesn't have the arm strength to play any position well, besides for 2B (which he plays a very good). Nix on the other hand is a stud at 2B, and has showed plus D at SS, and the ability to play LF, RF, and 3B. Best case scenario is for him to figure it out at bat, and he could become a Mark DeRosa type of player. In fact, their careers have started out similar. DeRosa was a decent prospect who came up with Atlanta but never did much, moved on to Texas, learned a lot from Michael Young, and look at him now. That'd be awesome if he could become a Mark DeRosa player. As for Getz, I like him, and I hope him the best and that he could become a solid everyday or platoon 2B, but he doesn't fit in with what we need, IMO. If we didn't have Beckham, I wouldn't have minded a Getz-Nix platoon. But, luckily, we do have Beckham.
