  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 05:12 PM) I wish I were that good Of course, studying for that little time might just make me study for a while. Shall I suspend your account for a couple hours
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 9, 2007 -> 04:49 PM) Ugh, I'm crazy hungover today, and I can't make myself get out of this chair and do some homework. This sucks. Just study for 10 minutes.
  3. I didn't see a certain basketball player turned baseball outfielder who went on to win a few championships in the NBA and is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time.
  4. The defense will mention, as often as possible, and is as many ways as possible, that these guys were, OMG! illegal aliens. The government should probably save our money and not even try to prosecute. No way in hell he gets convicted. If this was some middle class white kids stealing on a lark, the guy would never see the light of day. Many times it isn't what you do, it is who you do it to.
  5. A couple Spring Breaks ago I was at a locals bar on South Padre and some obnoxious dude was annoying all the women by hitting on them with the worst lines (are there any good) and annoying all the guys by telling them he could drink like an entire case of beer without getting buzzed. I looked at him and said, "too bad man, I feel really sorry for you." "whaaat? " "you can drink a case of beer and not get buzzed, yeah, I'm sorry for you dude" "cause I'm a real man and can hold my liquor?" "no cause you would waste $100 buying beer and not get buzzed, seems stupid to me. Hell, I've had four and I'm feeling really happy right now, kind of mellow, nice buzz." I've been sampling a lot of wheat beers lately and when I go back to some regular cheap domestic, it tastes like crap.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 09:45 PM) He didn't automatically get the job. Its obvious to me that Sox management was looking for a certian level of commitment from Brian last spring, and once they got to Tucson, they didn't get it. Its not all about statistics. You know as well as I do that numbers can, and do, often lie. Just ask Anderson's agent how much of a commitment to baseball that Brian has made in years past. For whatever reason, that is important to the Sox. They don't care about guys who can pad their stats in garbage time, they want a guy who is willing to fight it out in the trenches, and Anderson has never given them that. Spot on, although the concept of garbage time in baseball seems weak. I see it in basketball, but not in baseball.
  7. QUOTE(G&T @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) Plagiarism. Musically it is called sampling It was funny when I was taking a pro Bush position and channeling Southsider WWSD?
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) Yeah, lets sentence a 61 year old to prison for life, even if he isn't a menace to society. What he did wasn't right, but he doesn't belong to be in jail for the rest of his life, which he would get if convicted. A couple years of probation, and go from there. It's not like he goes around killing bad guys, this was his first incident. I'm certain his neighbors feel better, knowing if they have relatives over this Christmas, they could get blown away for leaving with presents. I'd want a guy who ignores direct commands from the cop to not go outside and not to shoot them.
  9. I'm taking a History class on line and the Professor basically created the Filibuster and set us loose. They didn't see it coming. 100/100 for Tex. The Professor asked if I had formal debate training, I explained I got my butt handed to me on soxtalk talking Bush, so this was easy. I basically wound up with both pro and con Bush positions and used some of the stuff from out threads. Sweet

    I just received this.
  11. Anderson - parties = Jenks - parties We could lock up Anderson for 5 years for what these other guys want for one!?
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) Well, so did we. And we'll win again with Brian Anderson because the other choices are too expensive
  13. The point I was making was use that as a reference when looking at these salaries, in a couple years, they sometimes look like bargains. Teams have to project out what a player is going to do. Maggs was a risk, and the Tigers won.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 06:03 PM) Tex, when's the last time I told you how much I despise you? I'm all about the money Who cares if we finish in fourth place, as long as we don't overpay for someone that could actually contribute.
  15. I can't believe anyone would want the team to spend $$$$ on a CFer when Brian Anderson is there for so much less. Screw these $18 mil players, we need Brian Anderson and his livable contract. What a bargain!

QUOTE(Soxy @ Dec 7, 2007 -> 07:14 AM) Not.worth.it. (And nothing like undergrad) All work and no play. We have a smallish program here that looks good to me now. We'll see in a year. I've been invited to take a couple grad level courses next year and will probably take them up on the offer. That way I will get a taste.
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:32 PM) Even faster, I took it from the pile of old Tiger Beats I keep in my sock drawer. I actually really like the earliest Hall and Oates stuff – the 1972-1974 "blue-eyed soul" stuff that KG thinks is a myth. The Rundgren-produced War Babies album is quite excellent. Seriously? If I spend some time finding that stuff and it's Private Thighs stuff I'll get even. Is this like the Bee Gees, great stuff and poor, crap and rich?

QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 05:13 PM) I only have 11 more days of college!!! Just typing that scares me. I DON'T WANT TO GRADUATE!!! Grad school
  19. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:23 PM) By the way, GP, if your friend wouldn't bang Hall, as her if she'll at least consider a mustache ride from Oates. I can't believe you got that down off your bedroom wall and scanned it so fast.
  20. Milwaukee Coliseum circa 1980, they opened for ELO worse.show.ever (ELO was masterful) Sara Smile, thirty minutes, both guys withering on the stage, the song took sooooo much out of them to sign.
  21. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Watch out boy, She'll chew you up! they're watching you they see your every move
  22. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) I'm still trying to work out how anybody gets involved in a conversation in which the subject is whether you would bang Hall from Hall and Oates. . . And for the record, I would not. I can't go for that. No can do. Cause you know it don't matter anyway
  23. The prices always look terrible when they sign, then in a couple years they are behind the curve. Rowand at $14 or $15 mil could look very cheap in a couple seasons.
  24. To save a few minutes. Down here people park on the tracks all the time. That seems even more stupid.
