  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) Eh, why not. We let 12 million people do whatever they want anyway, I guess a few more crimes won't hurt, right. After all they aren't white, so they shouldn't be subject to our laws. I hope you don't think that's what I am implying here.
  2. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:17 AM) Oh, so we just control people's minds, the advertisors, and the radio. Yeah, brainwashed. Maybe not brainwashed, but come on, how often do we hear "media bias" when a story is unflattering to the GOP? Are you saying there are an equal number of liberal talk shows? Are you saying that these shows aren't advertiser driven? Be proud! The RNC is so much better at this than the DNC it makes the Dems look like amateur hour at the local comedy club. Name anyone on the planet that has been better at this over the past decade then Karl Rove? It's finally catching up to him, but the man is brilliant.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:18 AM) So you don't mind letting everyone else getting away once the word of the first arrest happens? I do mind. BTW, the reports seem confused about the violent killer. They didn't seem to be looking for him, just document forgers. If they were all non violent offenders, would the tactics then concern you? Cops stop high speed pursuits to protect citizens, they don't shoot at a fleeing suspect if there is a chance of an innocent person being harmed. Are you ok with letting them get away? My concern is they used over the top tactics as a way to silence a protest. That smacks of terrorism and something we can not allow our police to do.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) So how do you break up a group that includes the crimes of illegal aliens, killing people, running an illegal ID ring, tax evasion, kidnapping, dismemberment, robbery, and conspiracy, (right off of the top of my head)? As I mentioned earlier, take down the violent killer away from innocent people, not in a crowded shopping mall. Do you think they would have tried to arrest a danferous killer at Woodfield, or allowed him to exit the mall?
  5. I'm looking for someone who will balance the budget, raising taxes if necessary to accomplish that, but I would prefer they look at spending less first. I would also like someone who respects everyones religious beliefs. I would like someone with a plan to exit Iraq that doesn't involve us handing Iraq a blank check for the next two decades. A pro Constitution candidate who doesn't wish to trample on my rights.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) No acutally I am not exaggerating. There is already on guy in this very thread who said he believes that ONLY the RNC partakes in these kind of activities, and you seem to believe that the media is a GOP controled machine. You guys are brainwashed. No re-read what I wrote. They can't control the media, even better, and this is what is genious, they control how you view the media. They have convinced a large segment of the population that the media has a liberal bias, is out to *get* the GOP, and is not to be believed. That is the beauty of their strategy. The talk radio is dominated by GOP leaning hosts. Just look at the shows that are available. How can you compare? The GOP lined up some great advertisers who will sponsor those shows in any market regardless of ratings and demographics. Brilliant. Be proud GOPers
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:15 AM) How many crimes need to be committed before we do something serious? I am not against arresting and convicting them. I have no problem with that. But again, it's the tactics. Was the force appropriate for the situation? Would they have gone into Enron with the same tactics to arrest them for their white collar crimes? I think we need to over see the police and not allow them free reign. If they did indeed decide on this method because they wanted to send a message, or because of the race of the people, etc. we ought to know that. I don't want to draw this parallel, it wasn't that extreme, but think a couple steps from this and it looks like the gestapo coming in. That's what I want to avoid. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:23 AM) See Flash's posts. Having to nab an entire ring of people, getting them individually is highly problematic, more dangerous, and less likely to succeed. They were selling false documents. Why would you think they were dangerous? Especially to the level that the police responded? I must be missing something in here. Were any of them already convicted for violent crimes? It looked like to me they were entering a Gang Headquarters not a shopping mall.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) It is because he wrote a piece about it, and drudge picked up on it. From the TG people I know, its such a hard thing to go through, and really really can destroy someone's psyche. I can't imagine making that decision. I can't pull the trigger on Lasik. Reading his article, he really seems committed and ready for it. I wish him the best of luck.
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 08:14 AM) And there is never anything coming from the other side of the aisle... Yikes. You guys really are brainwashed. Yes the GOP is a complete multimedia machine which is unopposed by anything known to modern man, and has the power to control the thoughts of every man woman and child on the planet. That's why President Bush has a mid 30's approval rating. You keep buying the Clinton company line about a vast right wing conspiracy, because tin foil looks good on you. LOL. The GOP has been screaming media bias for so long, it worked. 24/7 conservative talk. It's amazing. Be proud GOP_man. And I assume you are exaggerating, or else here's the tin foil
  10. We thought 2005 was toast with Thomas. Who am I kidding, it would be a looooong summer without Thome.
  11. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-oldmik...viewed-homepage My first reaction was to check the date of the story to see if this was 1980 something. But no, it's fresh. So I wonder is this really news in 2007? I've seen the headline on a few news headline sites, so people seem to be talking about it, but is it just industry stuff so the media covers it?
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 07:48 AM) Obviously it is pretty much the opposite of that. If the GOP agenda is making it out into the public hands, and the DNC isn't. If they had such good control of things, there wouldn't be leaks, for example, like the DNC. They get their message out, and no one even seems to notice it. When the media reports on GOP failings, the GOP radio network, and their loyalists, start screaming media bias. Teflon. It's easily the single greatest political strategy of our time. They have insulated themselves from criticism. It's not about message. It's about the GOP faithful believing that any bad news is just media falsehoods and any good news is obviously fact and probably underplayed. Like I said, it's brilliant. Reagan had it by his larger than life personality and charm. They figured out how to synthesize it and wrap even someone like Bush in it.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 07:50 AM) So exactly what laws do people have to obey anymore? SS, There is an appropriate amount of force that we allow our police to use. We don't expect them to raid Enron in full riot gear, pushing every MBA against the wall asking for ID, drawing their guns and kicking in the bathroom doors, to arrest people for white color crimes. When it appears that the police may have been in the terror game, it must be investigated.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) And they are a complete joke. They aren't nearly disincentive to stop behavior. I know for a fact that one of the main steel mills pays over $1 million A DAY in fines to the EPA, because it is cheaper than actually changing and fixing the problem. link?
  15. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 06:46 AM) If you seriously believe that only the RNC does this kind of stuff, there isn't much point in even talking to you about politics at all. The only difference between the two is the RNC is much better at this and has control of the publics perception of the media (against the GOP, helpful to Dem) and the opinion talk shows. The RNC doesn't have to control the media, all they had to do is discredit it.
  16. The killer thing has me confused. If they knew a killer may have been there, and hence the weapons drawn and large show of force, why not take him separate and in an area with less innocent people? If they didn't know he was there, we are back to the why all this show of force for a white color crime?
  17. All over America, conservatives are wiping a tear, wishing for those glory days of the 1950s.
  18. Since I was rained out, do I have free reign to start this one? Or was I blocked? I don't want to test fate and be a jinx,
  19. Wow, this only went to 80 posts. I just saw Mark Buerhle wearing a Sox cap.
  20. QUOTE(NUKE @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) If I were in that neighborhood I'd probably not feel comfortable unless I was armed also. As for these people. I don't know who the bloody hell they think they are. They feel as though they can just flout the law and then start a protest when they get arrested for doing so. And we tolerate it. We tolerate it because all these whiny leftist diversity nazi's get a woody at the thought of this country being overrun by illegal aliens. The people protesting where the innocent people who were treated like criminals because they were hispanic.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) Pft, I had a pocket full of Kryptonite years ago Alternate punch line, I guess that line was better than this has never happened to me before . . .
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Never like to see that happen to anyone not named Bonds.
  23. Those two, look at Thome's walks, are a classic example of having someone protecting a hitter and making them pitch to you. I'm guessing A-Rod would have had a very similar week to Thome, less hits, waaay more walks, on the Sox.
  24. Until someone knocks him off, McCain is still my fav on the GOP side.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) I wouldn't bet on Edwards just yet. He would be the second easiest candidate for the Repubs to demonize, next to Hillary. The work has done, the positions he has had, and the stances he has take will be very easy to fire up a Republician base with, and potentially scare some moderates. Believe it or not, I think the hardest person for the Repubs to go after would actually be Barrack, because they risk looking like racists if the attacks are too harsh. They don't have to go after him. That's the really sad part. The other issue is we love Governors, not Senators.
