  1. QUOTE(Cknolls @ May 3, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Aren't all Pres. candidates afforded Secret Service protection? I thought they didn't unless they won their party's nomination. QUOTE(Cknolls @ May 3, 2007 -> 03:15 PM) Aren't all Pres. candidates afforded Secret Service protection? There is a SS committee that rules when a candidate is high profile enough and needs the protection.
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 3, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) VICTOR DRAZEN!!!! I thought he was dead!!?
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish @ May 3, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Start paying people to grow corn instead of paying them NOT to grow corn. More corn and everyone is happy. And that would be right in line with why we were paying them to not grow corn. It kept the land available and protected wildlife, stopped another dust bowl, etc. I think the government should declare eminent domain on anyone who refuses to plant.
  4. The ugly side of America comes out. Anyone not expect this?
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2007 -> 02:41 PM) There is still a Snuggery in Union Station... Really? Across from Adam's Rib?
  6. Do they ever lock anyone up for this stuff? More fiines, longer probabtions
  7. Snuggery was a chain of hot bars in the Chicago suburbs. IIRC they had four or five locations, including one near Motorola on Algonquin is Schaumburg. Last time I was there it became The Alumni Club. I used them as an example of how fickle the club business is.
  8. And the problem with the bar business and giving credit to or blame for their success after a ban is how many fail anyways. It isn't like bars are the blue chip business prospect. Anyone been to a Snuggery lately

    QUOTE(heirdog @ May 3, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) We became a home run team when Greg "Looping Swing" Walker became the hitting coach. New fan?
  10. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ May 3, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Are they really going to get worse than they are? And if so, does it matter? The current output isn't going to get them anywhere near the playoffs. The question is which approach could get them moving sooner? If players thought Walker was the cause, don't you think comments would have been leaked by now and all over the press? We have a few assumptions here. For example, that Walker took it upon himself to move away from "small ball" and into more power. That somehow Walker is solely responsible for the approach that the team is taking. For all we know, he is following the company line and the next guy may be forced to teach to the same goal. Prior to 2005, and during that season, every member of the organization was the target of this sort of plan. Of all the people in the organization that I could see leaving, Walker is at the top of the list. But I think it should have been done during the off season.
  11. If we continue to trade everyone when they are at "peak value" do you ever win another World Series?
  12. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 3, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Question. I have a friend who's dad owns a body shop. My friend and almost all the workers there smoke in the garage. Would a place like that have to ban smoking? Probably. Enforcement would be the issue. We can make all the laws in the world, but without enforcement, they are meaningless. In other words, if no one objects at work, it will probably be business as usual. If one person complains, there will probably be a problem. Here is an interesting question that no one has brought up., Certainly there will be smokers who can't go a few hours without a cigarette, and will have to stay home and avoid bars. Will there now be non smokers who will want to go to bars who may offset the business lost?
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 3, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) Personally, I think Konerko would have been long gone if not for the magic of 2005. I am certain that had a lot to do with it.
  14. Sometimes it is not about right and wrong, but about who is more right than the other. One person is polluting the air, the other is not. In that equation it seems easy to me who to side with. If they want to pollute their own air, inside their homes, I have no problem and I don't think society should, Once you leave your home, and come into the public, that's a different story.
  15. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 3, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) What are we gambling? Things can't get worse. Yes they can. Weeks and weeks trying to get adjusted to a new approach., Not trusting the new guy. I think the risk is about equal on both paths and prefer coaching changes in the off season.
  16. Where have I heard a statement like that before? Oh yeah, with Konerko. It's all speculation, but I think Dye will stay in Chicago as long as he's getting playing time. Texas does seem like the logical next choice.
  17. The best thing going for Iowa and Misery is on a clear day, and standing on the roof of your house, you just may see Chicago
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 3, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) If the A's would give up Harden for Dye and Gio, I'll drive Dye and Gio and thank Jermaine for two historic seasons with the Sox. Dye's going to be gone after this year anyways, and I'll take the chances of Harden staying healthy over Gio doing anything in the majors. Whose choice, Dye or the teams?

    Is there an easy way to figure out where spyware is coming from? Everyday I scan and some up with almost the same amount. Besides running a program, then scanning, anyway to find the root?

    QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ May 3, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) (The last one happened. I was in court waiting for my name to be called and there was a guy before me who's wife left him and he had absolutely no idea where she was. Dead, alive, with someone else, whatever...he had no clue.) lucky guy

    QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 3, 2007 -> 09:24 AM) They have little trade value at this time. They should have been dealt over the off season to get us anything of value in return. How far do you think they dropped in trade value? 50%

    QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 3, 2007 -> 08:59 AM) We sell tickets based upon our 2005 season, goodbye season ticket base if this s*** keeps getting thrown out. We've been a home run team a lot longer than from 2005. I wonder how many times since the Southside Hitmen that we fell out of the upper 25% in homeruns.
