  1. QUOTE(Soxy @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 06:40 AM) Do you mean just in terms of popularity? Because I think Carter had a much better approval rating from other world leaders and (other than the Iran Contra mess) had better international policies. He just couldn't handle domestic issues. Popularity, not getting much done, etc. I think Bush, at his core, is a good, decent man. He just ain't Presidential timber. I can't wait to see how Jeb does.
  2. Milkman is right, the RBI record would really be exciting. I like the guy. What can I say. I hope he erases every record that Bonds ever sets.
  3. Actually we are not backpacking. It's a residence camp on the beach, and we make regular supply trips. http://lagunastation.org/ No worry about running out.
  4. LOL, I am putting together my camp budget and am trying to figure out how much toilet paper a person uses per week. One roll? 1/2 roll? I know it depends on the food, but, damn I'm googling toilet paper usage stats and not finding sh, I won't go there
  5. Good luck pards. 81 and sunny here.
  6. What a great country we live in that we can have this sort of investigation and potentially an orderly transfer of that position. Once again our system works.

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:47 AM) Obama owns you!! supposed to be for bush, but obama vs. the bear would be funny That would be a good movie, Obama and the Bear, a nice remake of the 1978 BJ and the Bear.
  8. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:52 AM) Meh, I bet he smells like fish. I don't have smell-a-vision, but I do know he has crabs, lots of crabs . . . Rolla was overweight, paying a big fine. Eric is cute also.
  9. It is nuts to compare someone who choses to defend this country and all our asses to someone who decides to courageously go off to college. We really should honor college students over soldiers. Our nation owes it to them.
  10. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 06:25 AM) Him or Phil from the Corniela Marie are my favorite captain. My guy is cuter
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 05:38 AM) Don't you mean more body bags? Carter had less body bags, I'm not certain how I should have written that.

  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 11:49 PM) I'm just sad that Frank won't get 3000 hits. The guy was one of the best pure average hitters for a long time in his career and it sucks he'll never reach what I consider the elite plateau for an offensive player (3000 hits). One thing that frustrated me with Frank the past 5 years is that he became much more interested in the homer and his average suffered immensely because of it. After a homer he doesn't have to run as hard . . . I've always thought that was a logical conclusion to not being the day to day first baseman. Eliminate the need for all around baseball muscles and with his ability to add muscle, why not bulk up and power 'em out? I think if he was asked to play first more, he would have stayed "slimmer" (at least by Frank standards) and remained more of an all around hitter. IIRC it's been longer than that, He hasn't hit for average since he was hurt in 2001.
  15. Eventually, over the course of a season, the better players reach their historical levels, or damn close to them. That is why teams pay the big contracts.
  16. With guys off to slow starts all over this lineup, at least we have one position that there is controversy.
  17. IIRC didn't he bat 3 or 4 in Japan? I wouldn't blame this all on Ozzie, Iguchi seemed to want to make the switch as well. If this was by his request/suggestion, and Ozzie gave him a chance, It won't be the worst experiment that a manager ever tried.
  18. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 09:19 AM) But you can't have bad music with great lyrics and still be a good song. That's why somebody invented poetry, great line. I remember a conversation between Joe Walsh and Steve Dahl. Steve was opening for Joe and later would come on stage for an encore. He was trying to find the lyrics to a James Gang tune Joe was planning (Walk Away). He told Joe he couldn't quite figure them out. Joe replied, Hay man, I wrote the song and I don't know the lyrics, that's back when I didn't care and now I just kind of slur them. Of course he was joking, but there was probably a lot of truth to it. Some song writers are "lyric" and some are "musical". It is probably best when the two collide, (thinking of John - Topin)
  19. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) so anytime someone dies, that didn't expect to die, the flags should be at half-staff? if there's a big car accident and a bunch of people die should all flags be at half-staff? Unless it's a member of the armed services . . .
  20. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 23, 2007 -> 08:24 PM) I get the sentiment, but the green is unnecessary for Alaskan crab fishermen. They have a work-related mortality rate that is way up there. 296 work-related deaths occurred among Alaska's fishermen between 1990-2005. That's a fatality rate 23 times the overall U.S. work-related rate. The green was for them signing up for death as well. No one, outside some suicidally depressed sign up for death. I was grasping for a dangerous profession, not of the "serve and protect" variety. Maybe violet would have been a better color? BTW, Sig on the Northwestern is my favorite Captain.
