  1. The Cubs can market some guy to the point that Cub fans love him (Shawn-O-Meter) regardless of performance. Cub fans will slurp it up. Try that same stuff with Sox fans and we'll tell the guy to take a hike. We know silk from a sows ear. So Oz, tell us he's the best you got, tell us he'll come around, but don't, for the love of exploding scoreboards, try to convince us he's Ricky Henderson and important to the team.
  2. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) Would it be completely assinine to say I think he's going to break Bonds' record? He has the tools. He is easily a threat for the "non performance enhancing drugs" season home run title.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) Happy Birthday!!
  4. Hitmen., That was some great times at the ballpark.
  5. QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:51 AM) Some call those people fair weather fans Yep I am a fair weather Erstad fan and an all weather Sox fan. Some call those people fans who have watched the games and see a guy getting older, slower, etc. That's part of being on the decline. He will play well for some stretches and poorly in others. Guys are generally inconsistent early and late in their careers. That is why the BA/Erstad debate will rage on. Both players will have streaks of great play and streaks of crap.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) Indeed. Strange Things are afoot at the Circle K. The few hundred Circle K's/Citgo here switched to Stripes/Valero and away from commie gas. Thank God they didn't mess with my breakfast tacos. Same great taste, same terrible service.
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:50 AM) All of which will be the focus of a merit badge activity centered around Chili Night, right Tex? No chili night on this menu. Chicken fried steak, shrimp, fish, spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, fajitas, brisket . . .
  8. QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 02:34 AM) Sure there are other options and I would take advantage of eveyone of them. One can never be to safe. A responsible gun owner who has children will have their weapon in a secure spot that they know about, is easily accessible and maybe even in an area that only they will know. An alarm can be disable and is not the end all be all. As to living in crappy places and never getting broken into, consider yourself lucky. I sure hope you don't consider Lakeview or somethin shady. Easily accessible and secure. I have yet to hear a spot that was secure from the children and accessible enough to have the weapon ready to fire in under a minute. It depends on the neighborhood, but for most of the population, the odds are better that the kids will find the gun then someone will break into your home while you are there. It was an easy decision for me to put them away in a very secure location. I sleep better at night knowing my children, or their friends, would not accidentally discharge the weapon.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) The elementary school that's two blocks from my house recorded 8.45 inches of rain since 2 this afternoon (it's 10:40 now). Earler, the tornado sirens went off (again) - and I have not seen anything like it since I've been down here. The rain was so hard you couldn't see across the street, and then the wind would shift right away to another direction and blow the rain back the direction it had just blown from. Really weird stuff. It's quiet now, but man there's a lot of water around. Our back yard has 6 inches of standing water and between our houses is like a river of water as everyone's yard drains out.
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) The KC announcers just said Buehrle and Garland were in their late 30's. These guys shouldn't be announcing an A game
  11. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) If the pitching keeps it up and if the offense becomes consistent, the Sox shouldn't have a problem winning this division. That's a couple of big "ifs" though. It's an easy formula
  12. That's gonna leave a bruise. DP coming up.
  13. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) KC has some bad TV guys I know. Bad doesn't begin to describe it and the damn mlb screen saver of pac man has me wanting to throw stuff at my TV, On the bright side, I have the S-Video connection going, the audio to my stereo and soxtalk on the laptop screen. This is pretty sweet.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:55 PM) I agree....again. Easy to agree with. But I'd like an even better outfield with Dye as the fourth
  15. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) Man... Farmer and Singleton's banter is THE WORST. I'm listening to KC, that has to be worse
  16. This is why the Royals are hoping to finish third and the Sox are a threat to win a WS.
  17. Very nice. Great running BA, he's got some wheels
  18. Under normal conditions the #9 doing their job and gettng to the top of the order would be worth cheering, We'll see.
  19. Anderson with a K looking inning over. 4-3 KC
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Can someone provide an update/pbp for a bit? Gameday has completely died. Juan with a double drives in two. Anderson up with two outs
  21. The Dangerous Juan Uribe, I love the KC announcers. Come on BA
  22. Before BA I'm remembering how we needed Gload in the line up.
