While I can't comment on the above poster and his motives, I can agree that the trashing will begin shortly. It always does. And IMHO it occurs by fans of every team. I don't mean to dis Jon, but many had him as the second coming of Cy Young. He is also around here an icon of someone who "couldn't miss". While he is emerging as a good pitcher, he isn't something we couldn't live without. The difference between a Roger Clemens and a AAAA is razor thin, and can't be predicted with any certainty. So trading prospects isn't as earth shattering to me anymore.

Agreed. I am surprised that you now support higher wages. When the Dems were pushing for increases in the minimum wage, that was going to kill businesses and the owners. Just keep in mind how low our unemployment rate has been for the past couple decades. A meat packing plant is about the worst job you can imagine. I'm not certain how many people are wanting to get in that career. Long, monotonous hours, cold, sharp knives, blood, etc. The meat packing companies have been begging for employees for a long time. Would you encourage your kid to take a job in a packing plant for $15/hour? The other issue the meat industry faces is people eating less and less beef. With a huge increase in cost, that would further increase. I don't think the American public is ready for $8/pound ground beef. But we've killed or downsizes other industries and survived.

I finally got over here and I am LMAO. Fans of both teams hate this trade. All of my Ranger fans think the Rangers got majorly hosed on this deal. They want the GM strung up like Christmas lights. Prospects are prospects in my book. I've watched waaaay to many not pan out. (where is big Jon Rauch?) I like B-Mac more because he posted here, but as a pitcher, I'll take a couple extra top to near top prospects for one top prospect.

While others have lined their pockets, played in pro-ams on the PGA tour, or any other retirement activities, he remained active and used his platform as an American President, to champion human rights around the world. He was a much more worthy pick in 2003.

At the other end of the scale of needs, have Pres. Bush and Clinton raising money worldwide is what it takes. Don't cast the net any wider than you will need. I like the "let's not go" black tie gala. If you are nice, I may just let you in on the details.

I purposely mentioned the monetary investment because people are more likely to acquire free music than free DVDs or books.

Mike I have done many fund raisers. What is the dollar goal? What has the group done in the past? How many people are involved (paid staff/volunteers)? What resources do you have? The key is first adding up all the resources, and especially don't forget people and their hidden talents. Right now I am in the middle of a small fundraiser that we are projecting will earn us $45,000. That is much different than a $2,000,000 capital campaign. So what are we talking?
