  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) My platform would be the "Honest Grist" platform and it would demand that all American brewers immediately and henceforth abandon the use of adjunct cereal grains that make most American beers thin and cr@ppy, instead using only malted barley and wheat as the chief fermentables in their products. The resulting beer would be soooo damn good the whole nation will fall into a drunken stupor and I will quietly consolidate extraordinary powers within the person of the Executive. With these powers I will order an immediate end to all reality TV shows, mandate that "Take me Out to the Ballgame" be the only song sung during the 7th Inning Stretch, and push hard for the passage of a blanket resolution granting a suspension of marital fidelity obligations on the part of the person of the Executive in any instances specifically involving Kate Beckinsale. I would then make sure Kate Beckinsale had heard about all the good beer and maybe bring her up a couple of cases. Nice to see someone put some thought into this and truly wishes to help all of mankind.
  2. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 06:45 PM) It's duly noted that this is the second attempt at discrediting my campaign Actually after reading your platform, and knowing your character and views, I think you would make a great VP. After I win the primary, we'll talk.
  3. BTW, PA, to keep this fair and all I am reminded of the words of a great American President Ron Reagan, so . . . "I want you to know that I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience."
  4. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) When you're intoxicated and high, it's hard to not be noticed so true, so true.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 05:54 PM) ATM deposit. And that ended his career as a bank robber I almost did the same thing. I thought it was my expense check and was in line at the motor bank, filled out the deposit slip and thought, wow, that's ironic, it's the same amount as my paycheck
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) I've gotta say, I am impressed with some of the things I've seen so far. Great platform statements, PA's personal thread... 2 people even have new Sigs for the election. Very cool. Gee, nice when the moderator favors one candidate by name.

To clarify, if it was proven he tampered with the jury, bribed the judge, etc. he could be tried again, because he had not placed himself in jeopardy. Since the trial was considered fair, he can't be tried again. The courts have also taken a dim view of prosecutors looking for work arounds to this. In one case where a defendant robbed seven people at once, the prosecutor first tried the defendant for robbing only one of the victims. After the defendant was acquitted, the prosecution tried again, won, but had the conviction overturned on appeal. Of course his real judgment day will arrive and hopefully he will receive his just rewards.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) No he can't be re-tried for the Murders. Correct. The SOL doesn't apply, because he received a fair trial. The Fifth Amendment prevents a person form being tried twice for the same crimes.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) And one more that of course never hit the MSM... http://www.investors.com/editorial/editori...247191278714751 A non Union Dem just like me. Not too many of us around Dem circles. It's nice to know she can have a conserative bone in her body and still be accepted. The author seems to imply that non union workers are the same as illegals. Not nice.

He is the President and it is IMHO, his right to nominate whomever he feels is the best candidate for the positions. The American voter is smart enough to know if it really is a viable candidate or not. If the Dems block good people because of political ideology, they lose. If Bush nominates inadequate people because of political ideology, he loses.
  12. Pete Best. No doubt about it in my mind. If we are limiting this to the Fab 4, I'd go Paul with one caveat, it was so much better with Lennon around.
  13. If elected I would require every citizen to visit, via non motorized means, a State or National Park twice a year and must identify ten birds or animals by sound.

3/10, I really sucked at it.
  15. http://democrats.senate.gov/pdfs/RealSecurity_web.pdf I will not try and summarize a 123 page report, but above is the Democratic plan. Real Security addresses five subjects: Iraq, the War on Terror, homeland security, the state of the US military, and energy independence. It has been released since March of 2006, and largly ignored by the conservative media. Again, just because the conservatives keep saying something, doesn't make it true.
  16. Most of your platform consists of "It's a state's rights issue". If there is a checkerboard of different laws on abortion, guns, welfare, and etc. wouldn't that create an interstate problem? If we are the United States of America, shouldn't we be united on the big issues?

QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 07:38 AM) Deep down I love it, but I hate the way I got it. I was one of the last holdouts in the company and HR kept on my ass - "It's easier for me, wah wah wah!" Little did she know that's the reason I wouldn't sign up - she was all about her and even though I knew the benefits she never went that route. Finally my wife made me do it. I ran into the same issue at my office. HR didn't want to continue to overnight the pay checks, and one guy was holding out. Of course his was the deposit that was screwed up I wrote about.

  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 10:31 PM) When a party can come to power under a platform that is made of nothing, it's a sad testament to who was in power. You sound like a tape of every conservative talk show. The Dems have a platform, have a plan. Rush and Hannity repeating over and over again that the Dems have no plan, doesn't make it true.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Let me see him do that with his mouth. That's quite a fantasy you have there . . .
  24. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) Given that the markets have been going up for a while, including after the elections, I'd say the experts on the economic picture for the nation are not overly concerned. Imagine the absurdity of Americans placing body bags ahead of financial gains. It's Un-American
  25. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 14, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) Which is funny because I had to move your post as well, Mr. Kinky. I placed the platform in that thread and came here to discuss. As per your instructions. I assumed you wanted one neat thread with just platforms and all the discussions in another.
