  1. First off, let's be clear she doesn't speak for the GOP party. She will finish 4th in a three way race. Why she isn't running as an Ind candidate, I can't begin to figure out.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 07:58 AM) How about take the religion out of it and call it what it is. A bunch of sick f***s who abused children. Exactly, yet we can't seem to do that when some suicide bomber claims to do something in the name of his religion.
  3. QUOTE(TLAK @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 06:32 AM) The Tigers are now in great shape, splitting with the White Sox just about iced it. At 81 wins with 34 to go, a .500 record puts them at 98 wins which should be plenty. And the majority of their remaining games are against the less successful teams. You can spin these numbers anyway you want but I see it as the division is Detroits unless they collapse. It's been months and months since a team leading the AL Central collapsed enough in Aug/Sep to make it a race . . .
  4. Take the thoughts of many Christians when a zealot in the middle east kills someone and the moral outrage we use to paint that entire religion, now twist it to be all Christians abuse and molest children, and we have an understanding of what good decent members of some religions feel when s*** happens in their religion's name.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) Here's the only place the article mentions younger kids being accomodated at the front: I'm not even sure it's the same bus. But there's no other suggestion that the black kids were moved to have young kids up front, so I thought you were talking about this. I didn't see where she said "her" bus driver, thanks for pointing that out.. It looks even worse for this woman.
  6. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) No... It's not necessary, in order to accomodate 2 kids, that 9 others be moved all the way to the back. Just shift everyone back one row. Looks pretty obvious to me. I don't see where it says only two, I guess it is infered by only one parent talking. I just can't see someone being that openly racist, I really would like to hear her side of things. But if it is just like this article makes it appear, she needs more than a boot up his backside. She needs sensitivity training with Ozzie.
  7. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 04:08 PM) Hey to everyone on here that was offended by my name I apologize. That was not my intent at all. I just joined this site today, and don't want to start off on the wrong foot with anybody. Like I said whoever I offended, again I apologize. Now I know what OZZIE feels like!! ANytime we can get a thread closed, even for a few minutes, means almost everyone knows you are here. Nice entrance.
  8. Reopened and being cleaned up. DiegoTony was a gentleman and nicely changed his screen name.
  9. This is a tough one to discuss.
  10. Anyone see the irony of this coming up in an Ozzie thread?
  11. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) The reason it's called the "CY YOUNG" award is because the player it's named after had more wins than anyone in history. It would be ignorant to say that W's mean nothing. Rolaids Relief is named after an antacid . . . I do agree though, winning is the name of the game.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Goddamn do I love Jon Garland. It's days like these that make me happy we endured those days of 2003 suckitude We forget, he came up fast. It is easy to believe he hasn't even reached his prime. The next 5-8 years could be special.
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) Considering Doyel knew nothing about College Basketball, yet it was considered his specialty, I'm going to go ahead and guess that this article is horrible and uniformed. Light and entertaining, not much baseball, more ozzie and his PR skills
  14. At some point Jon and Cy Young have to be talked about. He's tied for second in wins, but his ERA will probably keep discussion to a minimum unless something magical happens between now and the end of the season
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) And Cotts could use some confidence. With mauer and Morneau in there lineup it would be nice to have two lefties that we could count on out of our pen. Not into complete game shut outs?
  16. QUOTE(dagotony06 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:02 PM) The media make me sick. They just try to bait ozzie just to say something controversial. I like that Ozzie says what's on his mind, and doesn't hold back. There is nothing wrong with that. I understand that the world we live in now is all about political correctness, but that doesn't mean it's right. I have no problem at all with what Ozzie says, it's his opinion and he is entitled to it. If people don't like it, oh well. When he is speaking as the Manager of the White Sox and also represents the MLB, he has to live by the rules that they have in place. Also, there is probably some language in his contract about conduct detrimental to the team, etc. All of which could, and IMHO, will, get him in a jam his sense of humor and success will not get him out of.
  17. QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) It's not obvious to those of us at work and not watching the game. Usually when a player starts a game, he doesn't get pulled out. 10-0 lead, pitcher cruising, player that logs a lot of innings = pull him and let him rest.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Wow, awesome outing for Jon. I'd probably go to Cotts for the 9th considering we have this one wrapped up. That or Bmac. I figure both could use the work. 98 pitches so far. I'd leave him in. Give him the SHO
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:59 PM) Yeah but we're talking about P.A. guys. The Astros P.A. guy at the ballpark is annoying as hell. Oh, in that case, you are right. But I really hate the juice box. Almost everything about it.
  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Was there even a delay? I left for class around noon and just got back now. Short one.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) He's HORRIBLE. Him and then the Astros guys are the 2 worst by far. And wow does Brian make it look easy. Covers 1/3 the earth indeed. After I got past the creepiness of Milo Hamilton, I've emjoyed the Astros broadcasts, but they are my ":home team".
  22. I can't believe we had the only team in baseball without a single guy juicing, and any team that has hit as many homer runs as the Sox over the past 6 seaons, should be under suspicion. But I don't see who was as obvious as Sosa, Mac, I-Rod, Giambi
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) Am I the only who would root for pretty much anyone besides Detroit? I think after all of the years of Tigers/Pistons/RedWings/Lions/Vipers hating, I couldn't ever root FOR a Detroit team, even if it were against someone like the Yankees or Red Sox... I think the only exception I could make would be against the Cubs, and since that could only happen in the World Series, I don't have to worry about that one... The Tigers are the only ones out of the group I could. I think they had vision, a multi-year plan, took some risks, and have a great season to show for it. I applaud that. I love their history. I'd rather kick their sorry ass out of the playoffs, but I'd cheer for them over all the other AL teams and every NL except the Astros
