  1. I guess I'll go download his new album and see if he's right
  2. The problem is most of their insurance policies only cover the instrument if the musician is carrying it. More at link He said replacement costs for an instrument in excess of 30,000 pounds ($57,000) were "not uncommon."
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) This was the funniest thing I read all day yesterday. ROTFLM*O+ +updated to reflect the new kinder gentler soxtalk
  4. All I can figure out is nuclear annihilation and complex wars are too much for most people to grasp. They can't do much about a nuclear bomb getting dropped, but we can protect children from this kind of idiot. At least we think we can. I'm rambling here and not making sense, but it seems we avoid the stuff we have seemingly have no control over and jump on the stuff we seemingly have control over. Does that make sense? I was thinking about the police work in this case and how most crimes get solved not by police work. Has the Brown's Chicken murderer(s) been caught?
  5. My God, it's hell having one wife pissed off at me, why would anyone want three or four?
  6. http://www.talksox.com/forum/ Another one.
  7. bummer for Arow. I can't believe he is still playing at such recklessness.
  8. I am sitting here wondering, what percentage of the population is as f***ed up as this guy?
  9. What religion are we fighting for? We are "One Nation Under God". I guess all our actions are in the name of Christianity.
  10. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 07:34 AM) No denying they changed radio in this country, whether one wants to admit it or not. They were part of that wave, no doubt. There were guys in almost every major city that were all pushing boundaries on FM. Most faded away without talent to sustain them beyond the initial shows. Others took it bigger, (Stern for example) either by continuing to push boundaries, or savvy marketing. I've enjoyed Dahl because he actually has grown up. He's only a few years older than myself and the parallels are fun.
  11. I am using Gspace to back up some files to my gmail account. Has anyone tried this? I do not have to worry about security, these are image files that I wouldn't mind someone copying.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Looks awesome. I've done desert hiking before - it can be a big challenge. If you have young scouts, that will be a serious trip for them. Make sure you have your 2 gallons per day. The early plan is to not only have lots of water cached, but to have a support vehicle stop by on day three and meet up with us. The NPS finally provided a bear locker along the route to store water. I believe it is an upgrade from "find a spot and don't forget it". I am calling to see if water pilfering has been a problem. I also plan on offering, depending on participation, two options, a relatively lazy, South Rim and down and the more challeging Dodson Trail trip. It seems like a great time to just take a tarp, but I am certian we'll have to go with tents because of some fears of snakes, insects, arachnids, and other things that creep and crawl in the desert.
  13. Once I even used a little duct tape on a small blister. Left it on for a couple days and it saved a bigger heel problem from forming. After one very rough trip, I actually fear blisters. Over Christmas break I am leading this trip to Big Bend
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) All this does is continue the trend we have been seeing since people realized how important TV was during the Kennedy debates. It just happens that more and more time is getting eaten away at by these mediums. It also continues the trend of electing the best actors instead of the best people for the country because of what they do when the cameras are supposed to be off, and how old or bad they look on TV.
  15. Most of the foot related problems I have seen are caused by wet feet, socks, and shoes. I always tell people I am leading that it is much better to take 5 minutes and take care of a hot spot then be hobbled by blisters. With the Scouts, I even go so far as schedule to foot break if we have a number of newbies on a trek.

    13+5 maybe...

    That's a big boy.

    Alrighty then...

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 01:13 PM) I think we need to get these two together! http://www.esquire.com/features/articles/2...wo_Vaginas.html LMAO, I was just thinking that and started to search Esquire on-line.
  18. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Sort of. If its a blister on your foot and you are out hiking all day, sometimes its better to pop it under controlled circumstance. Even better, I know a great trick for foot blisters. Kind of gross though, and off topic. But if you want to know how to turn a painful blister into a hard callous overnight, I know the way. I usually do the moleskin donut, but honestly have been blister free for years (at least on my feet) Smartwool and poly liners with a pair of boots that just flat out fit my foot. When I bought them I thought they would be more for day hikes and knocking around in, but pressed them into service on an impromptu trip and love them. Timberland something or others I picked up at their outlet. They replaced some Merrils. What's the trick?
  19. Seriously, we swept the Tigers. Beat the Yankees. If that didn't produce a #1 for the week, I don't know what more we could have done. Who had a better week? Won back to back series against two teams in the top 4.

    Lunch

What do you wish you had versus what you did have? I wish I was at Dirty Al's on South Padre Island eating the blackened fish tacos and fried. I actually had a tyson chicken breast sandwhich microwaved while at my desk working on exporting a Microsoft Outlook calendar.
  21. Obviously they didn't check here first, we deserved a top 25 spot.
  22. QUOTE(Dan @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:33 AM) THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICS! The parade isn't until Wednesday, I want to know that the absentee rate is that day
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:04 AM) Hmph, I'm afraid that if there is such an option, an easy way to open a ppt file as an EXE, I don't know how to do it. And I for one am always nervous about opening ANY .exe file from anyone, unless I actually speak to them on the phone or in person and they say "Yes, this is ok to open (I don't trust email for that purpose, since virii can fake emails quite easily.)" But, I do think that there are some software programs which could be purchased/obtained to do the task for you. Quick download.com search turned up this one (hope the link works), free to try, like $50 to buy. If you just go to Download.com and search for Powerpoint, you'll find a fairly long list of file convertors on there. Not sure if any of them are any good, try to follow reviews for that. This will be sent on their request from the Boy Scout office to Scout leaders, so the trust issue should be covered. Thanks for the link. I am also looking for a batch program to convert all these pictures to lower resolution.
  24. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) I agree. The only ones I've ever "popped" were poppped on their own accidentally. That old wives tale about popping blisters will not go away. I remember when I was running cross country it was almost a ritual early in the season heating needles and popping away.
  25. WELLINGTON (Reuters) - A parade of 30 topless porn stars riding motor bikes down the main street of New Zealand's biggest city will go ahead, officials said Monday. Auckland City Council Monday gave the "Boobs on Bikes" parade the green light, saying there was no legal reason to stop it despite concerns by some councilors that granting it a permit would add legitimacy to the event. The parade, part of an "Erotica Expo" organized by local entrepreneur Steve Crow, will proceed down Auckland's Queen Street from midday Wednesday. Police earlier said they did not regard the parade of leather-clad porn stars as indecent. "In the opinion of the police, given the standards of decency observed in this day and age, a female being topless in a parade on a weekday in Queen St will not in itself constitute an indecent act," police inspector Rob Abbott wrote in a letter to The New Zealand Herald newspaper Monday. However, the behavior of the participants during the parade might still attract the attention of police, he warned.
