White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 02:01 PM) MLB.tv, my friend. Thirty bucks and you will be hooked up the rest of the season. I got pissed at them for a blackout and cancelled. I need to get hooked up again. I was also waiting to see if the games would make me puke or not.

I hate not seeing the game. Gamecast and this thread is nice, but not the same.

White Sox vs. Royals......Goin for the Series
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 3, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Pablo probably would have been an easy out at home if he ran. With two out I thought he would have been off with the hit

Why didn't we score on Gooch's swinging bunt?

Nice to see Loaiza pitching well
I still think he was Kenny's best trade. Talk about buying low and selling high.

Big Frank
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Compared with the other guys of the steroid era...I think he has to go first ballot, because it makes a statement about the other guys when you consider that the main punishment for having not stood up and said it was a problem or used the stuff is going to be not being a first ballot HOFer. Why not reward the guys who do so cleanly? That was something I had not considered, and if the voters wish to make his election a statement on that era, I could see a first ballot election. They may also look at 2000 and Frank getting f***ed out of the MVP by a steroid using Jason Giambi. OK, I'm in the first ballot camp.

FBI Sting or Entrapment?
Under that scenario, I could see it. But the officers must be careful and not become a coconspirator

QUOTE(Soxy @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) Oh hon, it's a SNACK. So, you have one of those around 10, then come back for your Big Mac, SuperSize Fries and Diet Coke at noon at dinner time. Ick. Exactly. Don't forget a healthy salad for dinner and the egg McMuffin for breakfast.

Hendry Helping Tigers and Twins
QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 10:27 AM) No, that's not it. But to label any poster's good faith effort a the worst anything ever is a bit extreme. Debate the content, but respect the poster. Respect is a good thing..wouldn't you agree? I thought it was more a tongue in cheek thread starter that would have been fun to kick.

Contreras needs to go to the DL
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 12:59 PM) Yeah that 5.1 innings pitched on 68 pitches 6 days ago is really holding him back. If only he had gone 9 with 125, then he would be ready. How about some consistent innings? If all you're looking for is 5 innings, we have that. It is a tough transistion, with proably a sacrificial start thrown in. I think it would not be enough of an upgrade to warrent the lineup change.

Charlie Haeger
I am not even close to thinking moves should be made to find a spot for him in the starting rotation. I't watched too many players, and especially pitchers, struggle once they get to the mlb level. He's getting an extened tryout, under playoff race conditions. We'll see this month and next Spring if he's a player.

Contreras needs to go to the DL
Putting BMac in the lineup as a starter, would be the most unfair thing we could do right now. He isn't "stretched out" for the extended innnings, and the pressure would be incredible, epecially for someone who is basically a rookie. I don't think it would be enough of an upgrade at this point in the season. I could agree that the time to move him may have been a month ago. Anyone care to debate when a 4 man rotation might make sense and who should be dropped? It seems like we have two candidates.

Question about Muscle Soreness.
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 10:54 AM) I still hurt like hell after a workout and I've been lifting a long time. The funny thing about me is, that it seems to be worse 48 hours later than it is the day after the workout. That's why I work out every other day and try to seperate the muscle groups so that none of them are being overworked. When I was running and racing the 48 hour mark was the most difficult as well.

They can be funny or smart sweet or tart To kick it off, from the Matt Lienert is a daddy thread . . . Hmm, the irony, huh?

Dems don't like minimum wage?
One job I had in high school was "x-dating" for an insurance agent. I took a phone directory and he paid me .10 for every person I spoke with who would confirm their info and when their car insurance expired. I am certain some hours I was psid less than minimum, especially when friends would stop by. I was alone in the office in the evening. I could see a similar wage scale here, and I believe it is what the US Census uses, $X per house. Work faster, earn more. I am not necessarily defending that company, just offering some possible explainations. Most businesses fo not have the time or the interest to thouroughly check their suppliers labor practices, but you would think a political party would. Imagine if some company came in off the street and asked you for your employee records and other information like that before offering to place work with you. Most businesses would not hand that over.

FBI Sting or Entrapment?
Of course this is an area that is so easy abused that only well trained officers should be involved and then under strict guidance. To me it's similar to putting a beautiful 20 something lady in front of some dumpy middle aged married guy, buying him drinks, and then seeing if he would cheat. That situation would never happen in the real world and this guy may never have cheated in his life. We have to avoid the "testing people" aspect. That should not be a bonafide method of law enforcement.

FBI Sting or Entrapment?
I am troubled when law enforcement becomes a co conspirator. Providing materials that they might not have gotten any other way, seems to step over a boundry.

Greatest Ever Article on Mack in CF
I am reading the challenges of being the jack of all trades, versus the challenges of being called on for one position on a daily basis. I am not certain, with enough off season time, if he could or couldn't be a decent everyday guy in center. I am certain he would be much improved. I also have respect and a certain amount of empathy for his plight.
