Congratulations! Sorry bud, but 7/7/07 is not going to work for me. I know I will be working at a Boy Scout Camp that week. Could you find another date?

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 03:36 AM) Give it up, man. The Democrats are going to fight tooth and nail to keep this from blowing into a scandal. They'll use whatever means necessary. Why? Because this potential scandal can derail Queen Hillary's senatorial reelection and presidential aspirations. Funny that it's Republicans talking the most about Hillary in '08. She would lose rather easily to DeLay so I'm certain the Grand Old Party would love to see her as the Dem nominee. Both parties employ damage control, don't make this seem like the GOP encourages the airing of their dirty laundry and investigations. Everyone, in all walks of life, tries to fight any and all charges.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) I believe the MIP will be Joe Crede. He always put a ton of pressure on himself and was battling the game instead instead of playing it. I think while on the DL last year, he decided to just relax and have fun. He not only looked like a completely different player after the DL stint, but a completely different person as well. That makes a lot of sense.

Left -----------------> Media The media always looks biased to one group of the other. Are you going to balance each article? Each edition? Should the media held the Lewinsky story until a positive story could also be run? Does it balance over a day? week? month? That is the brilliance of the GOP strategy. Every negative article is explained by liberal bias. Just listen to any talk radio. No media outlet hits the exact middle, neutral point.

It certainly is sad that Republicans can't seem to get into Journalism. I wonder in this free enterprise system how an industry is able to lock out Republicans so well. And an entire industry will forsake profits, credibility, the public trust, in a united effort to get Republicans and elect Democrats. It must be all the profits they make when Democrats are in office. I wonder if there is a secret daily meeting of all newspaper reporters to discuss how to report all the GOP wrongdoings? Maybe there is a secret internet where only the media go to screw Republicans. LOL, maybe once I become paranoid and drink the GOP koolaid, I'll believe it. Bush is perfect, it's just the media. The GOP whining, despite having 24/7 shills like Hannity/Rush/O'Reilly just makes me laugh. They took a page from the doomsday cults and created a bunker mentality, us vs. the media and soooo many people started slurping the koolaid.

Somewhere an unoriginal headline writer writes Willie Harris Changes Sox Best of luck to him. I thought he managed all the personal ups and downs of last season very well.

he's having his caddie reach in and take the ball out of the hole . . .

Timo I'm thinking Pods steps up. He was nagged by some leg stuff, and his bat wasn't always there. I'm thinking consistency at the plate, better steal percentage, even if total steals remains about the same. Plus, what fun is it in picking one of the obvious? BTW, Gooch has been doing this a long time and at a pretty high level. I'd be surprised if he improves much over the second half of last season.

There is a reason that the MLB drafts every kid who owns a mitt. Drafting baseball players has the worse payoff of any sport. I don't mind trading away prospects for MLB ready talent. As much as it sucks when guys like Bull are gone, after pulling for them to make the 25, the odds are so long, take the guy who is ready.

I think this can be a position by position and a current state of the roster situation. In general, I like college pitchers. A few more innings pitched, and against better talent, starts to reveal any structure issues. Roster situation. If I'm the Yankees, I'd take all the chances in the world on left side infielders, those positions seem nailed down for a few more years. College outfielders make more sense. Finally, in favor of HS draftees, who would you rather have coaching a player, your minor league system or a college staff of questionable skills and methods? Another factor is how loose you are in dealing prospects. If I was a develop my team in house type, I might opt for more HS picks, if I was a deal 'em kind of GM, I'd take the quicker to be almost ready college kids. (Actually, I need to rethink that last bit, that could go either way.)

NBA fines Bulls GM John Paxson
Texsox replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) I doubt there's a fan in basketball who would complain about a guy on their side receiving one of those fines. Hell, if Pax asked all of the Bulls season ticket holders to put up $1 to cover it, Ib et they would. Wouldn't he be about $10,000 short? Not specific to this game, but I always laugh when I read about an inbalance in free throws and it somehow implies the refs did a bad job. If the free throws should balance, why not just issue them before the game? Sometimes one team does commit more fouls, doh! -
Didn't the Cubs just sign Grissom? Maybe they are trying to figure out how their World Series dreams died

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 02:08 PM) Just walked over to Wendy's to grab a burger and walked by a lady in her car on her cell phone.. Apparently she was extremely upset with someone whose name appeared to be either MF'er or stupid asshole, because that's what she kept calling him and boy was she LOUD. I went inside and the drive thru folks were laughing about it cause they could hear her over the speaker from the parking lot. sounds like you met my wife . . .

Can we have a confirmation hearing? Mr. Kickass, what do you believe the role of a moderator to be in a modern, post 9/11 world and do you believe that neutrinos are a component of dark energy?
