White House Easter Egg Roll
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 03:42 AM) It's a liberal thing. We understand. We don't have the likes of Rush, Hannity, O'Reilly, Ingram, etc to teach us and keep us in line.

Top 10 Classic Rock Must Have Albums
I couldn't really argue with the list. I think it's very mainstream, and I'm not certain what period he determined could be "classic". I'm a Who fan, they were my favorite group in the 70s and early 80s, and don't have a problem with Next as listed. I think it is a better fit for the average Rock fan, although Who fans may differ. Same thing with the Stones and Zepplin entries. Those groups have to be there and these are their biggest sellers. In fact looking at who is listed, I had a hard time thinking about bouncing any of them out, possibly the Airplane or Clapton albums could be replaced but how could you drop Jimi or the Beatles? The Beach Boys are missing, that seems wrong. Other artists that possibly should be thought of Aerosmith AC/DC Queen U2

Top 10 Classic Rock Must Have Albums
Linked Top 10 Essential Classic Rock Albums Guide Picks From Dave White, Your Guide to Classic Rock. FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! If you're just starting a classic rock collection, this is the place to begin. These albums were chosen because they reflect the variety of musical styles that are found within the genre of classic rock. Choices are based on the continued popularity of the music and the artists, and the degree to which they define the genre. This list covers only a fraction of the best classic rock albums. It represents a recommended starting place for developing a full appreciation of the genre. 1) Sticky Fingers Rolling Stones More than six million copies have been sold since it was released in April 1971. This was the first album recorded on the group's own label, the first in which Mick Taylor played guitar on all the tracks, and only the fourth to be released worldwide. Because it contains tracks recorded at various times between 1969 and 1971, it serves as a showcase of the Stones' work at a time when the group was still honing its musical identity. Compare Prices 2) Who's Next The Who If you're a fan of the popular CSI TV shows, you're already familiar with two of the cuts from this groundbreaking album that serve as their theme songs, "Won't Get Fooled Again" (Listen / Download) and "Baba O'Riley" (Listen / Download). Released in 1971, this was one the most technically advanced albums of its day, featuring some of the first use of an electronic synthesizer, and an acoustic engineering technique that gave the music a deep, full quality, even on AM radio. The group could go hard, as with "Rock and Roll" (Listen), or soft, as with "Stairway To Heaven" (Listen), the song believed to have received the most ever radio airplay. Because it represents the band's broad range of musical styles, this album (also sometimes known as "Zoso" or "The Rune Album") is an essential. Compare Prices 4) Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd Although it has sold more than 13-million copies worldwide, this album wasn't as popular as The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon. It is significant because it is so indicative of the group's intensely complicated musical compositions and its elaborate studio production. The title song was a tribute to founding member, Syd Barrett, who, by the time this album was released in September 1975 had left the group due to erratic behavior brought on by mental illness. Compare Prices 5) Revolver The Beatles This was the 13th of the 20 Beatles albums released in the United States. It was released in August 1966, roughly in the middle of the Beatles' ten-year life. It is significant because it reflects both the style of the band's earlier work, and their first experiments with new stylistic elements that would become common in their later albums. Over the years, Revolver has repeatedly received critical acclaim as one of the best albums of the era. Compare Prices 6) After Bathing At Baxter's Jefferson Airplane The group's third album, released in 1967, is the quintessential psychedelic rock album. From its title, to its cover, which depicted a house as a whimsical flying machine, to quirky song titles like "The Ballad of You & Me and Pooneil" (Listen / Download) and "A Small Package of Value Will Come to You, Shortly" (Listen / Download) this album defined the psych rock genre. Compare Prices 7) Eric Clapton Eric Clapton with Delaney & Bonnie After the breakup of Cream in 1968, Clapton wanted to get out of the spotlight, and signed on as a sideman with Delaney and Bonnie. Delaney Bramlett's encouragement led to this, Clapton's first solo album, released in 1970. Bramlett also contributed his group as backup, and the song, "Bottle of Red Wine" (Listen / Download). The album is significant because it represents a turning point in Clapton's career, and set the stage for the 39 Clapton albums to follow. Compare Prices 8) Electric Ladyland Jimi Hendrix This album was released in 1968, when Hendrix was in peak form. It was the legendary rock guitarist's only #1 album, and contains samples of his stylistic range, from blues to '50s rock to psychedelia. The album contains what many believe is the best version ever recorded of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" (Listen / Download). Compare Prices 9) The Doors The Doors This group's debut album, it was released in 1967. It contains the song for which the band is best known, "Light My Fire" (Listen / Download). The album's largely dark themes, combined with lead vocalist Jim Morrison's legendary wild lifestyle, set the tone for the rock genre for the next several years. Compare Prices 10) Blonde On Blonde Bob Dylan This was the rock genre's first double album, first released in 1966, and subsequently reissued in at least ten other forms, with changes in the way the tracks were mixed. It was recorded in Nashville, which was somewhat unique at the time, as was the fact that it appealed equally to music critics and music fans.

The Dynamic Duo Strike Again
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Oh is THAT where that comes from? I don't need the drivel of Limbaugh, or Hannity, or any other idiot on the radio to think for me. It's obvious enough. You seem to parrot the drivel well. Everytime anyone says anything negative about Bush you immediately jump in with it's always Bush's fault and scream media bias. It's time to stop the "I feel your pain" and "Compassionate Conservatism" and just kick ass for four years. DeLay is the toughest politician out there. He scares the crap out of terrorists. He'd be Reagan without the charm. No wonder he was the GOP posterboy as Speaker. The Dems want him out bad because they don't have anyone that could beat him. He's biggest threat would be McCain in the primary. I don't see any other GOPers that would be nearly as tough on terror as DeLay.

The Dynamic Duo Strike Again
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 10:15 AM) Tex, seriously, how long are you going to keep pressing the DeLay comments? It's been almost a year, and the schtick is getting really old now. He is easily the best current politician to lead this country in the war on terrorism. Sorry if you don't agree. Now I guess if y'all would stop all the Hillary stuff and liberal media stuff that is drilled into our heads by 24/7 conservative talk radio, I'd have to follow suit. Every time Bush's name comes up you get on a rant, I've never complained.

Jim Callis on Haeger and Broadway
QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 03:08 AM) While I see your point about having your coaches developing talent and teaching things by the organization's formula, I'm not sure where you're going with ripping college coaches. Some of the best baseball coaches period have been in the college ranks (the late Rod Dedeaux comes to mind). While some kids might not get a lot out of the college experience, some have been helped tremendously by playing college ball. Players that age (17-21) need to mature as people, too. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Not all college staffs are top shelf, some are down right terrible, while other are arguably better than a Rookie ball or A staff. Instead of questionable, I should have said unknown, inconsistent, or something along those lines.

White House Easter Egg Roll
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) Wow. Talk about twisting something to suit your purpose. :headshake Which side? There is an event at the White House for families, where there needs to be two adults and a child under 8 to participate. Gay families with kids promote it as a way to show the world that not only straight people have children. Conservative groups catch wind that OMG! Gay Americans with children will be there and start a counter demonstration and look for ways to stop GAY!! people from being there. We can't have children of gay Americans pushing Easter eggs on the White House lawn. Sounds like both sides are twisting this to suit their agenda. Thank God the White House is showing some sanity and stating the event will not be restricted. I hope Bush shows some Compassionate Conservatism and makes a statement that all the kids are welcome, regardless of their parents choice in a partner.

Last weekend I was running the kitchen for a Boy Scout event and we had a leg left over from a doe we processed for an Indian Lore weekend. I wasn't prepared for vension, and had to make do with whatever provisions I could find around camp. I carefully butchered the meat, extra lean, and soaked it in milk for a couple hours. I started to boil it for stew, skimming and changing the water every hour or so. I found some canned, sliced potatos, corn, and carrots and added them. I also found some powdered brown gravy mix and an assortment of italian seasoning. Best damn vension stew I've had in a long time. I made enough for about 60 people and received rave reviews. Most didn't realize it was venison until we told them.

Well, I finally asked...
Congratulations! Sorry bud, but 7/7/07 is not going to work for me. I know I will be working at a Boy Scout Camp that week. Could you find another date?

The Dynamic Duo Strike Again
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 03:36 AM) Give it up, man. The Democrats are going to fight tooth and nail to keep this from blowing into a scandal. They'll use whatever means necessary. Why? Because this potential scandal can derail Queen Hillary's senatorial reelection and presidential aspirations. Funny that it's Republicans talking the most about Hillary in '08. She would lose rather easily to DeLay so I'm certain the Grand Old Party would love to see her as the Dem nominee. Both parties employ damage control, don't make this seem like the GOP encourages the airing of their dirty laundry and investigations. Everyone, in all walks of life, tries to fight any and all charges.

Most Improved Positional Player in 2006
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) I believe the MIP will be Joe Crede. He always put a ton of pressure on himself and was battling the game instead instead of playing it. I think while on the DL last year, he decided to just relax and have fun. He not only looked like a completely different player after the DL stint, but a completely different person as well. That makes a lot of sense.

The Dynamic Duo Strike Again
Left -----------------> Media The media always looks biased to one group of the other. Are you going to balance each article? Each edition? Should the media held the Lewinsky story until a positive story could also be run? Does it balance over a day? week? month? That is the brilliance of the GOP strategy. Every negative article is explained by liberal bias. Just listen to any talk radio. No media outlet hits the exact middle, neutral point.

The Dynamic Duo Strike Again
It certainly is sad that Republicans can't seem to get into Journalism. I wonder in this free enterprise system how an industry is able to lock out Republicans so well. And an entire industry will forsake profits, credibility, the public trust, in a united effort to get Republicans and elect Democrats. It must be all the profits they make when Democrats are in office. I wonder if there is a secret daily meeting of all newspaper reporters to discuss how to report all the GOP wrongdoings? Maybe there is a secret internet where only the media go to screw Republicans. LOL, maybe once I become paranoid and drink the GOP koolaid, I'll believe it. Bush is perfect, it's just the media. The GOP whining, despite having 24/7 shills like Hannity/Rush/O'Reilly just makes me laugh. They took a page from the doomsday cults and created a bunker mentality, us vs. the media and soooo many people started slurping the koolaid.
