Wal-Mart sticks it to short sighted Chicago.
BTW, interesting difference in shopping at stores in Mexico vs. US. The Walmart type stores all expect to have their employees put everything away. As a customer, you are a guest, and shouldn't be expected to fold stuff or restock the shelves for them.

Wal-Mart sticks it to short sighted Chicago.
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) I have no idea how the K-Marts here survive. There is never anyone in them here either (at least the one in Plainfield). As fast as they close here, call centers move in. They love the wide open spaces, big parking lots, and the bilingual work force they can hire.

Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
I wonder if Frank was expected to play 1B regularly if he would have adjusted his workout regime to remain more nimble and possible have avoided some of these injuries? Anyone want to start a steroid controversy now that he's just another player on another team who is muscular and suffered a freak injury? And once again, why is it that almost every ex-Sox complains on their way out of town?

Wal-Mart sticks it to short sighted Chicago.
Yuch. I was thinking you meant like dirty floors, carpet, etc. There are a couple 15 year old WalMarts south of me that I will not go into, but most are very clean. I also visit Target for a few things, but they never seem to have enough cashiers open. I go to K-Mart for the feel of being the only one in a huge store. It's like walking into White Hen, just a clerk and me.

Frank Thomas signs with Oakland Athletics
Frank being Frank. Plus, I can believe he thought he would start and end as a White Sox. In his mind, he signed several less than market contracts to stay with the team. He probably is feeling his loyalty would have been honored and returned. I'm thinking if the team had collapsed and not won the WS, there would have been more of a movement to keep him on the team and sell tickets for a chase for 500. With the WS, and signing a player of Thome's stature, it made parting ways possible. Highlighting the business of baseball and once the situation isn't mutually beneficial, it's a news conference and uniform switch time. Finally, Frank, with all his charm as a person, isn't even close to Artest and TO and the others idiots of sports.

FUN FACT: With the exception of the bandicoot, males of all marsupial specias have a penis that is posterior rather than anterior to the testes. High Court Delays Fla Execution
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 25, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) And so many of the death penalty's strongest opponents want us to continue killing our unborn. Ironic, isn't it? Catholic teachings are Pro-life and anti Death Penalty. A consistent ethic n respecting life. Thankfully, our juries are never wrong, and if they are, we can always dig up the corpses and set the innocent free.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 07:33 AM) We have a ton of new Wal-Marts here (super and regular) and they stay nice for a few months then they go to hell. The employees seem not to care. The Target that's been around for 4 years is cleaner then the Wal-Mart that opened just last month already. It's nasty. I guess each region as it own standards. It probably also helps we don't have snow and all that comes with it.

Wal-Mart sticks it to short sighted Chicago.
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) Wal-Mart is just dirty.. I don't understand why people shop there over Target. I don't pay attention... are the prices that much different? Yes, plus the product offerings are different. It also depends on which Target and which Walmart. They are opening a bunch of new Super Walmarts here, which are very clean. To beat K-Mart, Walmart went cheaper and Target went with better merchandise.

A Million Little Pieces Controversy
I was LMAO that he totally fooled her and a couple million Americans, hook line and sinker. I can't wait to read A Million Pieces Part 2, How I was exposed a liar on Oprah, relapsed, and soared again with the help of Dr. Phil, Scooby-Do, and a tunnel from Mexico.

2 Tons of Pot Found in Border Tunnel
This is an International Humanitarian effort to help those needs Americans strucken by glacoma. God Bless Them. Ask a city to build a tunnel like that and it would take years, tangled in red tape. What a fine example of private industry, ingenuity, and perserverance.

Wal-Mart sticks it to short sighted Chicago.
There are so many cities, towns, etc, that have tried this. I am amazed that towns will keep trying. If WalMart wants to come in, they will find a way. Your local stores will close or adjust. People want the lower prices and convienence of a big box retailer.

Palestinian Elections
QUOTE(kevin57 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) In any case, demoncracy occurred in yet another Mideast place. YEA! Whatever Hamas may do, they'll have to be accountable to the people. Most of the Palestinians may want Israelis in the sea, but they want bread on their tables, a roof over their heads, a good school for their kids, and a decent street to a decent job a lot more than some political ideology. I believe most people are more concerned about beans and beds than ideology.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) I really hope you're right. Im not optimistic though. I'm not any more or less optimistic than before. What I do know is the present path wasn't working. I don't believe Israel is under any more of a threat than they already were. In reality, is there any country on earth that has worse neighbors than Israel (and vice versa depending on your POV).

GM lost $5 bln in the 4th quarter
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) Relying on government or corporations to provide for you in your old age is looking more and more like folly these days. Thats why Im saving as much as I possibly can without sacrificing too much of what I want. And how are you savings? Imagine if the companies you invested in went bankrupt and your stock is worthless. That is basically (not exactly) what these people may have done. They would have invested in GM, and that seems like a blue chipper to me. Who would have thought 20, 30 years ago that a GM pension wasn't golden? If you are investing in the market, you are relying on corporations. If you are buying government bonds, you are relying on the government. I agree with what you are saying, but it just isn't as simple as that sounds.

Palestinian Elections
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) When NORML runs a candidate for Office, it's platform is the legalization of marijuana. When the Green Party runs a candidate, it's platform is the environment. When Hamas run candidates...destruction of Israel. Excellent point And when someone has the choice of voting for corruption or another party, do they have to buy into the entire agenda? If you have the choice of a Republican or a NORML candidate, you would take the Republican because you are against NORMLs stance? Of course, then you would agree 100% with the GOP stance. I agree, this isn't a very good turn of events, but I'm not ready to slander all Palestinians because of this. David Duke won an election, does that mean the majority of people in his district wanted the destruction of all blacks?

Palestinian Elections
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 01:20 PM) 78% of the people voted for Hamas representation, a group organized and "principled" on the annihilation of Israel and the Jews. That sounds like a mandate to me. Sorry, I just assumd there were more issues than just one. I assume then, in Israeli elections, Palestinians are the only issue as well? Oh wait, could it be they chose Hamas over corruption? Maybe they got tired of the corruption? Nope, the only chance it could be is they all want the end of Israel. BTW, do they elect people or is it just Israel Yes/No on the ballot?

QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) I believe that this translates to "a majority of "palestinians" do not recognize Israel's right to exist.". And a majority of Americans believe everything that Bush stands for. The majority of Americans are pro-life, tax cuts, God fearing Christians, want war in Iraq, etc. You may be right, but it is impossible to logically make that generalization from an election where there was more issues than one. This was an election for people. All these assumptions and generalities do not help the peace process. What it means is a majority of Palestinians believed the Hamas candidates will be better leaders for them. Be carefull how you generalize. Do you believe that everyone that voted for Bush agreed with him 100%? Someone mentioned that no one wants peace there. I disagree. Everyone wants peace there. Sadly, they want peace by eliminating the other side. Rex, I can't believe this could possibly be good for the peace process. If you can pull that off, I'll be shocked.- President's News Conference
