  1. QUOTE(minors @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) And finally the public has caught on just look at the 2004 electoral map only small pockets where the liberals still control. LMAO, 49% the population voted for Kerry, so your small pocket argument is laughable. If that really meant anything the GOP would have folded their tent after Clinton's reelection. Keep dreaming. What would please me is if people would respect human life enough to never kill anyone, under any circumstances. Who is it detering?
  2. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 11:50 AM) I want them in the vending machines again! If you have ever had it with the cane sugar instead of the corn syrup, you know that it is actually WAY better in that version, which is also the true old fashioned way of making the stuff. I was looking at an old picture recently, and in it was the old stubby glass bottles you used to be able to buy, with the foam outside label and the metal twist caps. I had all but forgotten about those! When I was working in Mexico, I couldn't figure out why the Coke tasted different. What is interesting is the Mexicans wanted me to bring US coke with me, and some of my neighbors wanted me to bring Mexican Coke back. I had a trade going for months.
  3. The first time I had Seagrams, I got so drunk I begged this girl I was out with to pleeeease stick her fingers down my throat so I could puke. 28 years later, I can enjoy a Gin & tonic, a extra, dry martini, Stoli with a couple olives, great, good, bad, and ugly tequila, but never put whisky near me. :puke
  4. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:27 PM) Very simple. Killing the innocent is wrong. Killing the guilty is justice. I'm curious, if an innocent person is put to death, would you charge anyone with murder, or would you rack it up to a mistake, no harm, no foul?
  5. The entire sports world must stop for two weeks out of respect for the Super Bowl. The public can only care about one thing at a time. We want 24/7 Super Bowl coverage. Let's hear about what some obscure lineman eats for breakfast. Damn, NBA playing games. The NBA even orchestrated the Artest trade/no trade/trade to steal the limelight. OMG! WHY ARE WE EVEN TALKING ABOUT THIS? THERE'S A SUPERBOWL IN A FEW DAYS!!! STOP ALL OTHER FORUMS I think most people can pay attention to more than one story. I can't believe there has been any Super Bowl story that you are missing because a HoF QB is contemplating retirement.
  6. It is hard to measure deterents. Since it is causing people to not do something, who really knows how many would have if the deterent wasn't there. You also have to assume that the appearance or lack there of, is the only factor. There are other factors in murder rates, poverty, battles for drug "turf", etc. Anyone of those changes and that may have a bigger impact than the penalty for murder.
  7. I'd love to see him traded to a upper tier team for a final trip around the league. But I don't blame him for not wanting another season in GB. And I appreciate a city the size of GB keeping a team and doing that well financially.
  8. If we was averaging 27 a night, he'd still be around. The league loves to find a mid range, somewhat known player, and look tough on drugs. I wonder if he can get a book deal and appear on Oprah?
  9. I'm more concerned about health and any changes to his off season routine that may have occured. That may cause a slow start before adjusting to pitchers. And remember, they have to adjust to him as well. I'll take a HoF hitter adfjusting faster than a run of the mill 3-4-5 starter.
  10. This one will be a battle. It's the number two lefty, not critical, but every spot is important. I'm guessing Ozzie goes with his gut and doesn't pick Munoz.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) I rather see Joe Borchard make with us. Yep, it's his to lose.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 05:08 AM) There is a concept that many people live by. You don't see it too much on liberal side of things, YAS, that really isn't fair. Liberals want to responsibility for many things, some of which isn't theirs. Example, let's take care of ANWR and the wildlife in it. Let's take care of murderers until God calls them home, or not. Let's as a nation take responsibility for our poor, not abandon them. Let's take responsibility for our nation's elders, through a strong social security program. Let's take responsibility for our Troops, not just wave flags and cheer as they go off to die. Let's work to bring them home and out of harms way as quickly as possible. You've made many good points, this one is not one of them and shows a complete lack of understanding liberals. Caring and taking responsibility for others are core priciples.
  13. One thing I don't understand is how conservatives can be for the death penalty but on the same hand be against pro choice. The Vatican teaches a consistent ethic in life, Pro-Life and Anti-Death Penalty. Makes sense to me.
  14. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) I think its also pretty messed up that you're comparing us to the Hussein regime when they tortured and killed people for no reason other than to satisfy their own sadistic urges. I'm not certain that is true. They decided what were serious crimes against their country and got tough on them. Isn't the concept the same? Strong law and order, they shut up protestors, they followed strict fundementalist religous views. They concept is the same, they just stretched the boundaries. Read through a list of countries that kill their citizens and then read through a list of countries that don't. Then you tell me which list you want to be on.
  15. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 06:06 PM) If there anything flawed about it its that its not the manditory sentence for all serious crimes. Isn't it ironic that Iraq loved the death penalty and torture, like Nuke, and we are sending in guys like Nuke to stop them.
  16. QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Mistakes in cases where DNA was not used, I would think. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/183007_crimelab22.html Fortunatly the other man wasn't convicted. A quick google search shows a lot of concerns.
  17. Vienna Beef, but there is this nice tofu dog :puke sorry Soxy
  18. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) What is it something like 1 in 19 million? Id say thats pretty fullproof. Without research, I'm guessing that there have not been 19,000,000 DNA death penalty cases, yet there have been mistakes already. So the odds would seem to be less than 1 in 19 million.
  19. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) This is the one area of the capital punishment debate I agree with the other side on. The way we implement it is rediculous and very arbitrary. Uniform sentencing standards, and the need for fullproof evidence ( DNA and the like ) would go a long way to resolving that issue. Even DNA isn't 100%. I'm glad y'al trust the government so much.
  20. I didn't realize spring training was underway Even if this was a possibility, the decision wouldn't be made until it was tested during spring training, and proven to work. I'm certain they will get some work in left and center.
  21. Wow, I guess Iraqi's are Republicans, they don't like the liberal media either for everyone living and working in a war zone.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jan 28, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Celebrities who use their access to the media to promote their political agendas. At some point we should take freedom of speech away from anyone who actually has an opportinuty to reach more than a few people. Perhaps a constitutional amendment that once you become wealthy or famous you have to STFU. We could start with Rush
  23. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) I'm against capitol punishment when it comes to unborn. They are totally innocent. As for the others, well, they reap what they sow. Larry, Kentucky nice, well played. But Larry, if a jury sentenced the fetus to death, would you be ok with it? We could make a law that being an unwanted baby is eligible for the death penalty. Pro-Life: From Conception to Grave. Say No to murder.
