  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Who becomes the hot autograph at the fest if PK is gone? Steff, as always . . .
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) Frank's moving back full time. He'll be the only one here full time aside from Oz Jr who goes to college here, that I am aware of. Yo Frank, hold up the moving company . . .
  3. Once again, we come to the point that most Sox fans want short, incentive laden contracts, and everyone earning about $5mil per year.
  4. Clemens gave Houston a 1-year hometoen discount, then didn't he become the highest paid pitcher ever after winning arbitration?
  5. Come to think of it, Can anyone on the team, with the exception of Cotts, be considered a hometown guy? I never really paid attention, but it seems most make their primary residence elsewhere.
  6. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) Ahh.. the universal example. :rolly Doesn't AB have all the offensive Sox season records that Frank doesn't? IIRC he had a monster year in a Sox uniform.
  7. That would be the funniest Sox commercial. Jay as the ultimate Sox fan. I love/hate this team. The only problem is all Sox fans love JR
  8. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:15 AM) I don't believe the hometown discount is a myth at all. Players have done it. People do it all the time in other careers, even high-paid, highly competitive ones ones like corporate CEOs. Money is something to everyone, and everything to some. I just don't know if Konerko is one of those who it means everything to, today. Then are chances go down even more. Born in Rhode Island, high school in Arizona. I guess getting closer to Phoenix or RI would be the "home town discount".
  9. lol, Jay would fit in so well around here. How many f***ing choke avatars were floating around? How many naysayers that we got screwed on the Lee trade? How many were logged in last season waiting for KW to announce his resignation? Remember the dugout press conference? I'm beginning to think Jay is the ultimate Sox fan.
  10. Rex, actually does commercial work. His disco inspired car commercial kills.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Or carefully planned.... I'm voting the latter. I thought it was obvious No one really thought he was serious, and that had an relevance to his contract, do they?
  12. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 10:08 AM) Tex, Kong is going to get a max deal. And that isnt going to be here. The hometown discount is a myth. The comments he made at the rally were probably just things that were caught up in the moment. His agent is going to shop him around and get the max deal. The Angels after watching Kong destroy them, and them needing a RH bat makes a perfect fit. Moreno will spend the money and is not afraid of making this deal. My money is on the Angels. I agree, and that describes about every player wanting a max deal for their position. I was just pointing out that the years are not as important as some people are making it out to be.
  13. I'm not hung up on a 7 year deal if it is structured properly. Buy outs involved, dollars are right, etc. The obvious example $65/5 or $65/7 which one would you take?
  14. I'd have to see the money before making a decision on 6 or 7 years. If there is some consideration for age. $65/5 $72/6 $75/7 then maybe 7 doesn't look that bad in the AL where he could be DHing. but 5 @ $13 vs. 7 @ $13 would be a tough pill to swallow.
  15. Sounds like he is looking for his last contract. Good luck Kong. Get rich, you deserve it.
  16. Frank being Frank, I see him putting up better numbers if he was "screwed" by the Sox and signs elsewhere. He has a ton of pride and if he was to switch uniforms, he'd be on a mission. Having said that, there should be some consideration by the team for Franks total career contribution, and total career compensation. Much like they did with Jordan in one of his last seasons. Maybe $6,000,000 is too much for 2006, but he was seriously underpaid a few seasons compared to his peers. JR should step in, reward the face of the franchise, and not have it handcuff Kenny. Frank will be productive, witness his not fully healed numbers from this season.

QUOTE(mreye @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) Or trying to cover malpractice insurance costs. I think you can partly blame our sue first society. good point.
  18. People are incredibly generous.
  19. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 3, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) I wonder what position they were in? Since you have more experience with microscopic male sex organs, what would you have recommended?

Medical insurance is one of the biggest hindrances to small business. It is almost impossible for small companies to offer decent health care for their employees. As far as mistakes, I believe the profit motive causes some Doctors to over schedule appointments and work too fast.
  21. I guess they came and went at the same time . . . sorry.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) At least he man'd up and admitted it unlike some of these other clowns who just offered excuses. I was thinking the same thing. I actually gained a little respect for him. No b.s., I didn't know, etc. Althought it would have been funny if he said, Sosa left it behind
  23. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:06 PM) Tangled up in Blue. MacArthur Park. Fiona Apple. Tori Amos. The Beatles. Shakira (spanish language only) And, on *very bad days* Old Liz Phair and Ani DiFranco What happened to "You can leave your hat on"?
