  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) So, you're saying you pack up a baby every year? Just for s***s and giggles?

  4. I will probably have to DeLay my plans. I was planning on being out in the Bush backpacking up in Texas Hill Country, taking advantage of the cool weather.

  6. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) I can't respond to this post because it's in the past.... There is a certain bit of irony in that.
  7. Anyone do much dehydrating? One of my favorite backpacking items is to at home dehydrate the applesauce (actually almost any fruit sauce) then rehydrate with some hot water at breakfast, leave it in a nalgene™ bottle wrapped up in a koozie, and enjoy a warm treat around lunch time. For those that do not do much backpacking, when you are carrying everything you will need,. weight becomes an issue. So dehydrating food removes a substantial amount of water weight.
  8. Happy Birthday
  9. BTW, someone mentioning that NW will be avoided like the plague. NW travels well with well heeled alumni. Most Bowls would love a competitive NW team.
  10. QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Nov 12, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Canes win 47-17... Damn 1st game of the season vs FSU , they gave that one away and it will hurt them. Should be playing USC for National Title... best Offense vs best Defense. Not to be a homer, but have you been watching Texas? If USC didn't have "the streak" the gap between #1 and #2 would be a lot closer. Many voters believe, and I'm inclined to agree, that until USC loses, they are #1. But that means they are looking at 2003 and 2004 in voting for 2005. However, judging just on 2005, I believe more voters would place Texas in the top spot. So perhaps it would be Canes - Longhorns

    QUOTE(SnB @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 02:18 PM) so soxtalk can't have any more fun topics anymore? every single god damn thread has to turn into a political/religous/other BS argument? GMAFB See, you're bring god into it I wonder how his hand doesn't fly off and what exercises he does during the pre-season.

    QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Their witty advertising? Genius! but no.

    QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) I know this! It was a guy working for Guinness, but he couldn't publish the paper under his real name because of the intellectual copy right (Guinness owned them I think), and so he published it under Student or something. Or at least it's something in that vein. We have a winner. It was Guinness' second most important contribution to society. Third was the Guinness Book of World Records. Any guess what #1 is?
  14. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) You raise a really good point here. One that we should open up another thread for. What SHOULD the message be, for EITHER party? I would start with the national debt, discuss how American has become the worlds greatest superpower by welcoming people from all corners of the planet, NOT keeping them out, make some meaningful reforms in how public schools are funded . . . I think everyone who truly wants to vote in an educated manner should decide what their issues are, and read over each party platform and campaign info ans see which candidate matches their values, not just assume one or the other, and not be swayed by attack ads.

    QUOTE(Mercy! @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) Hi Kyyle - Stop and think about what you just said. It implies that every day you begin your life all over again with a tabla rasa; that you respond to everyone as if you knew nothing about them. Life (online and off) just doesn’t work that way. Now, if you mean being unwilling to let go of some past personal conflicts with someone or bringing up subjects which have no bearing at all on the current discussion – yes, I agree, not nice. But neither of those situations apply in this particular case, do they? I’m always interested in the dissonance between what we say, what we say we believe, and the ways we actually behave. But even then, it is impossible with this format to make any judgements. Plus, history is important. IMHO, you did not look back far enough. SoxforlifeinPA circa 2004 would have found a masturbation looking bell ringer very funny. PA circa 2005 would quote We all have faces we put on. We all grow and change. Peace.
  16. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) That coffee mug is pretty damn funny. Seriously, the Republicans and the Democrats are a MESS right now. Neither party has a message. That could be because they are looking for a marketable message, instead of looking for solutions or improvements.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Nov 13, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Actually, the funny thing is no one from the Republican party has anything going for them right now, IMO. Yes we do:
  18. Really? I am surprised we don't hear more about him??

  20. Rex, with all do respect, money for tv is so huge. The Illinois race was mismanaged from the start, and not a typical case. I'll take the lesser candidate and 8X the money and 99 times out of 100, you'd lose. By the time all my money is spent, my candidate will be the better candidate. I think Juggs has an excellent point. I also think that the RPC has a huge media advantage with the GOP Radio Network. It's a 24/7 telethon. Contributors hear the cause and the message. No such outlet for the DNC. The Dems hope could be that Dean is rousing the masses and creating voters and volunteers and just lagging in donors. We all know if the candidate is hot and gaining mind share, the money will follow.
